My first year trying it. Ordered the bulbs in the summer and planted in August. Nothing happens till the nighttime temps start to cool. Light dusting of compost at planting. Doesn’t require a lot of water. Can be left in the ground for 5 years then moved to a new spot. Doesn’t require a lot of space but the harvest is a bit tedious, that’s why the spice is so expensive.
Fondly remember most of this. Beginning in January, I always start a mental countdown to spring. Can’t wait.
