Moses played with a torn pec most of the season last year. Dudes a beast. Carter Warren will be the 4th tackle ahead of Mitchell.

Tippman was the first center taken off the board last year, and has just had a rookie season. What we know is that he was almost never the point of failure on the line -- and at a certain point you have to consider that a general feature of the Jets 2023 offensive line: "who made the screwup, and under the circumstances was it fixable?" The other part is that he was the one solid piece in a line that was collapsing around him, with a carousel of different players.
Not a major point, but you graded him the same way you graded Simpson, who's a known commodity. Tippman has a high draft pedigree, he seems to be durable, and had a good rookie season which saw him snapping from a shotgun for the first time in his carrer. That's the overview -- not his pff ranking.
Also, between Tippmann and JMS, who were the Alt and Fashuanu/Latham of centers last year, Tippmann seems more like THE ONE than Schmidt. Which has nothing to do with the price of fish: we're not reviewing the Jets scout room. But I'm just SAYING. Anyway, I think aside from the upgrade -- the is the first season since... 2015 where the Jets start out with a GOOD offensive line, the Jets can actually afford to have one bad player. If your line is good, you can deal with a key member being injured: when the line is bad, the same injury is a catastrophe. And the last two seasons, the concentration of injuries at OLine for the Jets was almost funny -- I think continuity of the line as a unit (knock on wood) will make every player better. I swear though: when people were doing the lol Jets thing last year, I was like "five offensive linemen are out for the season" "all teams deal with injuries" "true, but not in the same unit! Lets see how well the Dolphins do when they have five players out for the season, all at WR." Two years in a row and the same conversation.

Off the subject of the line, the main thing Jet fans learned about Aaron Rodgers was that the three players he had the Jets hire: Lazard, Cobb, and Turner, weren't hired because they were good; they were hired because they were emphatically NOT good. Corley, the WR drafted at pick 65(?), has figured this out, and has literally moved in with Rodgers.
Haven't seen him play yet, but he's not stupid.

TBF Morgan Moses said he got injured last year via a torn pec but played thru it. Dude is a BEAST. S
Would also add in Carter Warren as the backup RT in case Moses goes down. The Jets have pretty good backups for the tackles, but the guards are a lil sus.

Nevermind can they protect Rodgers, does Rodgers have anything left with his reduced mobility and now carrying an even more inflated ego. Plus, Saleh is the worst strategist in the NFL. San Fran will show that you can run on their defense, and 41 YO Rodgers will be dinking and dunking to avoid hits but not getting TDs.

I think he might or might not sustain an injury that keeps him off the field for significant time. Do you guys have guns to your heads? Why do sports fans always make 100/0% predictions on things with unknown variables? Manning and Brady both had out-for-the-season/need a partial rebuild injjuries in their careers while still having MVP level seasons in the tank. The last elite QB of that era, and the youngest (by far) just had his. If it means getting something like Manning's first season with the Broncos, I'll take that in a heartbeat. Same thing with... however many Superbowls Brady won after missing a season and being 40.

  • @TonydaGM

The issue will be chemistry and continuity, you can't just slop 5 guys together and expect top 10 o-line play. Most good o-lines have 4-5 drafted starters and 4-5 returning starters. Obviously Smith is a talent upgrade but Jets are 1 injury away from a bottom 10 o-line.
