when Butch and Jayce were in the Marvelous 3, I saw them open for Collective Soul. Butch flipped me the bird after about the 10th time of me yelling "Southgang rules!" it was great!
I Freakin" Love Jesse Hart & Southgang. Another Great Underrated Band Of The 80s & Early 90s. I Do Love My Southern Boys. & Yes I'm Representing - Cause I Live In The South Too. Peace
Wish they would make an appearance. Love all their music. Vocals are superior to anything going today as well as the guitars, Hell the whole band is better than anything going right now. Drove down many a highway listening to Southgang. Funny how i ended up living in Georgia.
Butch Walker sure has come a long way from his days in this band. I would've never guessed what a good songwriter he was until he broke away from Southgang and formed The Marvelous 3 and his solo records after that.
Hey I'm from Cartersville GA and I went to school with Butch's AKA Brad's sister Dana (Cass High).. hehe time flies... I learned from Chris Fowler as well.. but now I live in Macon GA..and soon I hope to come back to Cartersville r Rome to jam in a bar if they have any.. love the sound of this song and I let all my buds local listen and brag... keep on rocking guys ya'll need to get back together....
I heard this song for the first time during a rock night in pub in Muswell Hill, London. I was blown away by it so tracking the album down became my mission. The album is so so good. Love this band.
I remember meeting them when I headed security in SC and they were "Floyds Funk Revival". We had to actually reinforce the stage to accomodate their show. The remaded themselves into just "The Floyds". When their singer became pregnant they became most successfully as Marvelous 3. I felt at that point they the best trio next to Rush but somehow underrated. Even inviting me backstage to see theme after they "became big". Haven't seen Butch and the boys in years. I miss you guys.
Very nice see and hear too your metal-melodic band! Dear metal brothers! In band Southgang! Class melodic composer + play, and sing!!! Class!! Thank-you very much for the music!! Good luck in life in music,in studios on concerts!!
Thanks for a fantastic blast from the golden era of metal. Thanks also for introducing me to a "new" band (despite being 20+ years old!). Great track and I love they tried something new in the video with the backing singers but holy hell does he sound just like Vince Neil. If I heard this on the radio I'd swear it was the Crue.
Thes guys were all so very sweet. I do have fond memories of Tin Masa and thr Rainbow!! YOu guys loved the rounds of shots.. LOL My 17 yr old son loves the music!! He plays the drums and wants to bring back this style.. ALWAYS LOVED YOU GUYS.. KATIA
Thank you for the memories. I remember sitting in my bed and listening to this tape, crying because Southgang was playing in my city and I couldn't see them. Wow.
SOUTHGANG,LOUDNESS,DOKKEN,STRYPER...the list can just go on & on! All the old 80's rock music. This is the main reason way i like to DJ,when i get the chance that is! I also collect CD's (200+) 1980's rock alone...M.I.P.!!! LONG HAIR,WILD PARTIES,GREAT FRIENDS,GREAT MEMORIES...& REAL ROCK MUSIC TO KICK BACK TO AND ENJOY!
Wild! I grew up with some of these guys back in high school in another lifetime. A few of the guys were in a band called 'Oasis' and if memory serves correctly 'bite the bullet'. They would practiced in a old storefront along Shorter Ave. in Rome, Ga then. Damn time sure flies. Didn't know that 'Butch' (hehe) had moved on to many other accomplishments. Good job Butch! If you guys actually see this you might know who the hell I am. LOL Take care guys!

They were pretty good! Got here after reading Butch Walker's (lead guitarist) book-"Drinking With Strangers"Also check out Marvelous 3.He is a great musician and producer still! Hell,Butch-this isn't bad at all-it was what it was and it sounded great!
And your opinion is a zilch a zero. Why post. You obviously love this fucking video like it's your birthday. You're just to fucking macho, read as insecure, to admit you like it. But alas, you already admitted it without even saying it. I have hear dmany better band yes, but there are a few cool songs on this record. Mostly the haunting ballads. Hey man you want something fucking heavy that all these morons never caught onto.. get yourself a copy of Subhuman Race by Skid Row. That record is amazing! Skid row BEFORE johnny sukcinger is amazing! They were heavy as fuck. Great sound, great lyrics, badasses. Well except for Rachel bolan the friend betrayer/band destroyer. I hate that kid's guts...
I agree. 1989 was an amazing if not one of the best years in hard rock and heavy metal music, tons and tons of great albums were released that year. This album was released in 1991 however. :)
Southgang's lack of true success in the music business was always a disappointment to me. I really talked these guys up back then. I turned a lot of people on to their music, and love it as much now as I did then. Rock On!
I have this album on CD. Ain’t that a shame that Southgang is not on Apple Music. However one of the members of the band is though. I really hope Southgang gets put on there, would love to see that.
Butch (Brad) came home to play for us in Cartersville, Ga at the Grand Theater, which he did not have to do. He's always been an awesome dude from the time I met him in high school. Give him props 🙌
Classic ! wow Butch Walker had some hair back in those days (he was the dark headed guitarist) ! Just seen him on "Daryl's House" on Palladia ! He is really talented and was very humbled in the presence of the great Hall ! He looks good for 45 years old .
I just bought an amplifier that has Butch Walker, Joyce Fincher, Mitch Mclee and Jessie Harte's autographs on the case cover. I feel honored. I had no idea. Can someone tell though who Jessie Harte is? I didn't see him mention on wikipedia.
I knew the name of Southgang first time in cd cover of Wildboyz . thank Wildboyz for let me to know other great band. I LOVE both. I love american hairband.
Man this band is so fucking good! Butch Walker should get the guys back together and do a few shows, it would attract more Walker fans and get Southgang more exposure for a small second run.
Where have these guys been? Awesome song! Down here in Australia our record companies have alot to answer for. Why this didnt become big down here instead of some of the crap we got I will never know. Take me back to the time, I want to live the times again but knowing all these bands. HAIR BANDS RULE!
I remember seeing these bands in METAL EDGE magazine lol along with Slamming Gladys, Tyketto etc I never heard their music til now 12/26/2021. I am 46 now but even as a kid I saw there pictures and already wasn’t into it and their names. It’s so cheesy omg lmao I’m glad I never bought their albums
I got cd from a rock station back when it was released and still have it today
I used to dream I was a badass wrestler named Angel and this was my entrance music. I might be drunk and confessing this.
Lamo fair play....
Reading Butch Walker's book called Drinking With Strangers...I had to look this up!! Awesome!
Saw them in cleveland at flash Gordon's. I was 12. Awsomeness. I'm 42 now
The lead singer is my uncle. I'm not kidding. He's starting a new band called "Bloody red Hearts."
Tell your uncle I have that cd I got it from a rock station in Lexington Kentucky and I still have it I loved it
Awesome
Tell your uncle he's freaking awesome.
tell you uncle stop being a doutchbag and moking his band back then and come back with a tour
sry im wrong that was the guitarist who says that 😆
Like the longer album version. Saw the guitarist in a band called Floyd's Funk Revival. He was not happy when I kept yelling, "Play Tainted Angel!"
when Butch and Jayce were in the Marvelous 3, I saw them open for Collective Soul. Butch flipped me the bird after about the 10th time of me yelling "Southgang rules!" it was great!
If they'd came out 5 years earlier, they'd be legendary! Good band, good guys.
Desmond Child could not handle so much projects in a row, so they managed to wait:)
This throws me right back into my teen years!! We had the best of music, best of fun, best of everything. Love getting a glimpse of the past.
This whole album was so good! I played every song until the tape was worn out! Loved it's southern rock sound.
Thought I knew all the 80's Glam Metal Bands guess I was wrong I love the ladies in the video.
Rockin' tune!!! "Georgia Lights" is my favorite track from the album:) This will always be awesome music!
And I'm paying tribute and trying to keep it alive with my guitar covers. ;)
Kick-Ass Rock Guitar Hell Yeah buddy.. I'm a drummer and would kill for someone to play these times with..
Georgia Lights is such a great song!
This one album was just a taste of what they could have brought to the table
I just found this on vinyl. Unofficial pressing but still excited to hear it
I think I will probably love this song 'til the day I die. Always brings back memories of the day and makes me smile.
I Freakin" Love Jesse Hart & Southgang. Another Great Underrated Band Of The 80s & Early 90s. I Do Love My Southern Boys. & Yes I'm Representing - Cause I Live In The South Too. Peace
Loved Southgang when they came out. Loved Marvelous 3. Love how Butch Walker had evolved and the music he puts out now.
One of the most underrated bands, great sound
Wish they would make an appearance. Love all their music. Vocals are superior to anything going today as well as the guitars, Hell the whole band is better than anything going right now. Drove down many a highway listening to Southgang. Funny how i ended up living in Georgia.

Been fun watching Butch evolve, he's def. talented.
Brad is a great hook writer. NO DOUBT
Everyone starts somewhere.... you just don't become a great songwriter. C'mon man!
"He" didn't break away. Three of these guys ARE Marvelous 3
Hey I'm from Cartersville GA and I went to school with Butch's AKA Brad's sister Dana (Cass High).. hehe time flies... I just read it...I knew some of the ppl he mentioned in the first couple chapters...I wasn’t impressed by the “story telling”.
Bands like this were a dime a dozen all over LA in the 80's
