Short answer: optimizing what little time I do have. For consuming media, I listened to this video while driving to work, and authored this comment while having porcelain time at work. For buildimg, as you heard me say before: rattle cans for painting, and a tiny workspace in the living room. I am enjoying time with the family and cutting at sanding at the same time.
Very good video on how you manage it. I didn’t start this hobby until I retired a few years ago. I wouldn’t have attempted this hobby while still working. I was in auto parts manufacturing, the last thing I would want to do is work on teeny tiny car parts 🤣. Now I look forward to it. Videos like yours give me inspiration. Thank you for doing what you do.👏👏Enjoy your day.🥳
Same Bro. Except my weekends are Thursday and Friday and I get most of my modeling time in then. On Saturday and Sunday I go in earlier and get off earlier, especially Sunday which is only a 7 hour day. But Mon-Wed I just don’t have the motivation when it’s almost 6 by the time I get home. On top of everything, I’m single, so I have to do all the other things without someone to share responsibilities with. Makes me one of the slower builders. Peace and love.
You're doing hood with your time Jason. I'm retired and with two teenagers, house maintenance and the gym I still can't find a standardized time to build. Thanks for sharing.
Great video Jason! I know that when I was working as an elementary school teacher, time was very limited. Usually I could squeeze in an hour or two on the weekends. Now that I'm retired I have to squeeze my modeling time in between "projects" on my "Honey Do List". It's a shame that our lives are so busy that we don't have enough time to participate in our hobby which is supposed to help us relax. Tom S.
EXACTLY!!! I forced myself to build when I wasn't in the mood. I was building my Monogram 41 Lincoln for his GB and it's a mess. I screwed up the paint, assembled things wrong and generally did a suck job at it. I won't do that again.
It seems when the weather is warmer, I have less time inside...Sometimes I will get up way early to get some time at the bench. The wife and I hang out every evening as well. I enjoy watching some tele with her. Since January.... We have watched all of Chicago Fire and Chicago PD...starting Chicago Med now...We will watch 1 or 2 in the evening, depending on the story. We have to keep our santity...
I ALWAYS get Stalled Out deciding Paint color. Get chassis done and engine and scratch my head deciding What color do i use. Green, Blue, Silver, Red gets Old after awile. Just did a 49 Ford hot rod and painted it OD Green w/Brass paint replacing Chrome parts.
Great response to the question, we all have our own challenges, but I like your outlook on not forcing build time, it will definitely lead to frustration and poor builds!
You seem to have your time management figured out and you differently have your family priorities right! I'm retired and single and I still struggle with finding time for model building!! It doesn't help that I'm somewhat ADD. lol
I work full time (until the end of this year when I retire.) so I am tired at the end of the workday and I am getting remarried in 4 weeks so the details of that have been a huge deterrent to having any bench time. Maybe next year things will change.
Great response!!! Thanks for sharing. I may Need to Answer this myself.
Thanks!!
I still have no idea how you blast out the awesome models. Mad Respect Brutha
I appreciate that my friend!!

Great response Jason. Its an art form, a creative process. It can't be forced. Sometimes its just not happening, and thats ok.
Exactly
Great video!
Thanks!
Great video. Very thought provoking. I missed Paul’s original video but may need to respond.

If I hit the lottery, doesn't have to be much. I could pay people to do the stuff on my house. There's always something keeping me from building.
