To become a member of society and not just " hipster circles" you have to learn German language.

3:28 sorry, no: Irony and some sarcasm are big in many parts of Germany. 4:22 ok, that might be.
4:52 that is absolutely not true. Politeness is (was) very important in Germany, starting with the formal addressing „Sie“. In my experience Germans are often rather viewed as being too formal.
That being said: you can be polite and still express your opinion, and that’s what we do.
Some Asian cultures might find that rude but not other European cultures.
7:53 that is simply false. They don’t try in any substantial way to attract well educated people.
The claim that you don’t need to learn German is infuriating and actually rubbish! German is our one and only official language.
I am German, older than this Englishman- and I have never been to or heard of any place in Germany where you need to talk English to be understood!
There are quite a lot of evidently false claims this lad makes and the one about not having to learn the official language of the country is by far the worst and in itself incredibly RUDE.

I think the definition of the official language as german does not only mean the one german language of high german but also the German language of sorbian and the german language of low german. It just means we speak a german language.
That's why they are recognised as regional languages (secondary official languages) that are used in official documents in those regions. The reason that high german is needed for all documents is because the region of high german being spoken is all of germany.
Of course the definition does not encompass english as it cannot be defined as a german language even if the origins are from the old anglo-saxon language.

Germany is in process of deindustrialisation !

    • @MichaEl-rh1kv
      @MichaEl-rh1kv День назад

That is a bit exaggerating. Some industries will go down, like coal and steel in the 1970s and 1980s, some because being partly obsolete, some because of bad management or both. Such processes of restructuring are normal in any advanced economy based on capitalism and competitive market structures.

I'm from the UK and have been living in Germany for 50 years. I think the young man is talking rubbish. Of course you need to learn German. I think if you do not try to learn the language it is also very disrespectful toward the German people.

I also have to learn the language for every country I choose to live in. It's the main language there, and you want to be able to communicate with the people there. If I move to Japan, for example, or South Korea or the Philippines, I learn the local language there, that's perfectly normal and is expected of you.

7:30 Technically it is more a stagnation becoming persistent than a real recession, but to many Germans it feels like recession. The German economy is still strong, but wrong decisions in the past do have bad outcomes now. Germany is also very dependent on exports, and demand for German products is declining in some important markets - partly because of those wrong decisions by industrial leaders, partly because those countries are also struggling at the moment (like China). Currently Germany's economy has the lowest rate of growth within Europe, even sometimes in danger to go negative for a quarterly period.

The British conquered half of the world in the past.
Did they used politeness or guns?
