Weird someone else tested their Randy II and was getting like 12 watts on the bird when full modulating. Also you don't need test equipment for the modulation setting, someone else already figured out setting it to 85 does the trick.
i followed your directions. I put it on my watt meter and watch the receive meter on a different radio. plus I could listen to the difference on the receive radio. Im very happy.
I like all the features this radio has compared to old handheld radios of the past. I went out and bought one of these president randy fcc radios. It's first time in thirty years I bought a new radio, something different in long time. I basically want it when on the highway for traffic reports from truck drivers. I see in owners manual it talks about the SWR antenna matching. If I am reading it correctly when using the rubber duck antenna that comes with the radio you don't have to worry about SWR. Is it only when using a mobile antenna on vehicle you then need to adjust SWR settings for the antenna your using.
I agree on FM it's about time usa dose it, it's long over due. I did buy Am randy FCC radio really to use it on the highway for traffic backups or break downs, or road closures because truck drivers always know whats going on with traffic. Maybe down the road I'd upgrade to new radio if president come out with AM/FM radio.
I'm in the USA, and I was able to order the RANDY 3 from Amazon UK, no problem. Cost me a little more, but the car kit and CTCSS & DCS capability, is worth it to me. It doesn't have the weather option though. Impressed with all of these, enjoy.
Awesome. Does it have a bnc connection on the antenna? I think this would be great to use with a magnet antenna in a spare vehicle. Also I wonder if they have any other antenna options? I have some older maxons and both are set for the same power and modulation however one has a rubber ducky with a coil load thats a few inches longer and that little difference in real life makes a bigger difference on how far they reach. I think years ago you could buy a telescopic metal antenna with a coil near the top and that made them work even better. I finally got AA 1.5 volt Lithium batteries in the maxons and they are way more usable then the older rechargable batteries. I was going to order one of these but I was not sure if they could put out decent power and modulation or be adjusted. I like it will do 4 watts and has a tiny upswing with modulation.
310 for 4 Watts high on my am/fm Randy II. 1 Watt on low is 344, AM Pow mod L/H 77, FM Mod 510. Using a meter. These are the best numbers for that radio.
No there's no reset, you need to write down your original factory settings so that if you screw up in the service menu you can go back to the factory settings if you saved them on a piece of paper or whatever!
the president randy radio is ok, but the antenna falls apart. I have six radios and all the antennas they are not soldered welded or crimped. I had to buy tnc to bnc adaptors and use Midland antennas on each radio.
So I bought the Randy 2 FCC. I have absolutely no clue about them. Iam an adventure motorcycle rider. I would like to to know if it’s possible to hear and talk on channel 19? Other than that it Would be walkie-Talkie between us riders.
Yes you can talk on any of the 40 channels. eep in mind the range will be limited depending on the terrain. Flat open areas might be 3-5 miles. Hills might limit it to 1 mile.
Do you work on radios for people? I have an old RCI Ranger RG-99 that could use a checkup. There are no shops near me so I need to send it out. But I don't know who to trust. I just feel there are guys out there that will say "Oh you needed this and that done so that's why you were charged $400."
@@cbradiomagazine Thanks. I emailed Superior a few weeks ago. Never heard back from them. Troy's did get back to me with an estimate. Maybe I'll go with them when I'm ready to get this thing up and running again. I haven't used it in years so I figure it probably needs an alignment at the least.
@@cbradiomagazine Thanks. I'm currently using a McKinley and just ordered a Galaxy DX-2547 (hoping the drift issue was fixed in this new batch), so there's no rush with the RG-99.
Very confusing about the AM modulation... You said go down on the menu to increase the modulation, then went down to a higher number? That doesn't make a lot of sense... Would that have done the same thing if you went UP to a higher number instead of down? Also you certainly didn't show "everything" there are many other settings...
If you weren’t able to understand the video then I’d strongly suggest not going into the service menu until you learn more about radios/modulation work.

But you got AM operations on 29.000 - 29.200 plus Aside from 26 mhz quiet cb below 1. It would been cool . Try see what that quit cb 58 model does .

I'm hoping and waiting to see if the Randy III will be sold in the USA now that FM will be allowed on US CB radio.

I have the President Randy II FCC. It had both AM and FM, it's in a mobile setup with the President Virginia Mag mount antenna and works great

TNC connector
I wonder if you can adjust the AM/FM FCC Randy to get a little bit more modulation.
Yes I'm sure you can adjust the newer version with FM.
Is this something i can run a linear amplifier on with in my car with an external antenna?
Do you have to worry about swr with an antenna swap with this?
Is modulation the same thing as mic gain?
Thank you for posting this
Why did you only swing 3 watts from the factory? My dead key is 3.5 channel 1 and from 9 up it's a solid 4 watts?
Use my midland on my motorcycle with PTT feature. Does this radio have that capability?
Good information bud the overexposed display is a torture!
Do you happen to have the original settings in that service menue?
Thanks for sharing this information
Gracias por el vídeo.
I don't understand why that menu is not in the radio instruction manual 😕😕
Do you have a UHF CB band in the US?
USA CB band is 27MHz. We do have some other radio services for public use as others pointed out.
we have cb on hf FRS on uhf and MURS on vhf. these are all license free.
And GMRS which is paid licence but uses many of the same frequencies as FRS.
Where's the UK version sold in USA I need it for expanded 10m FM ops with splits and simplex best thing is these have pl times.
No frequency mod to use in fm mode on 26.80.50??
Not the FCC version, the Randy ll FCC cannot be modified but the Randy lll from Europe can be easily modified for expanded frequencies!
Would a swr meter work

@@that_kid_ozzy9121 Sure, but be sure to write down your stock settings first just in case.

I Love mine, just talked 5miles on mine right out of the box with a Abbree Tactical Antenna for 27mhz 42.5”
Did you get the TNC model or do you use a BNC to TNC adapter? Too heavy?
What Modulator/Demodulator are you using for display purposes.
is that the one for the uk
No - The U.K. version is FM & AM

Why do you want to have it in a handheld? Too cheap to buy a real radio?

Does the removable antenna on a portable CB unit meet FCC regs??
Only FM mod on new version in Europ
