The side effects mentioned from using dry shampoo: hair follicle clogging, build up on your scalp, these things would still happen with the alternatives suggested.

Exactly, why not just wash your hair 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ nothing better than clean, and I mean REAL clean freshly washed hair. I just can’t go more than 2 days without washing my hair. Even my dermatologist recommended me to wash my hair EVERY DAY, especially for oily scalp, of course with a good gentle shampoo.

      @mspococurante 5 лет назад +7

I don't think so, because natural dry shampoo doesn't have alcohols or any other chemicals that are sticky. You can brush the powder through your hair with a brush, so its not sitting on your scalp.

As someone who’s always humbly accepted comments from women and men that I have beautiful long thick hair. I’m going to say that I agree with you. I’ve never used dry shampoo because I got traumatized by two of my friends whom would get all dolled up with their hair dye, curls and “perfect looking” hair when we would go out ( I was the simple one who didn’t do anything to my hair) every time we’d go out I would get this awful smell it was perfume and all these hair products. one day I asked them “what do you use on your hair and they said dry shampoo” I put two and two together. They didn’t wash their scalp, they were so used to and couldn’t smell themselves but it was just very bad i could puke, I was imagining all of the hair product and all of the dust and smell the hair collects through the day mixed with not washing it for days and clogging the pores with the dry shampoo.. It all seemed like a disaster to me. I decided I would keep my natural color not dye it for as long as I can and wash it every day or every other day but I cannot do two days without washing it. It hasn’t caused me anything bad my scalp is healthy and I get a trim once a year. My routine : I wash it, I apply 5 drops of natural pure argan oil when it’s damp let it sit and I let it air dry then I brush it gently or I blow dry it during the winter when I’m running late. My hair is wavy so my curls come in natural. I never use a flat iron and I don’t own a curler. If I do want it flat then I comb it sitting under the sun. Lol I think the key is to let your hair be natural let it breathe and wash it. Don’t apply too much heat or products. I also get a gallon and go to the beach, I fill it with ocean water and then i put in a spray bottle and spray my hair with it during summer for extra vitamins :) I I hope my advice helps anyone :)

I’m not crazy! The same thing happened to me. I would dry shampoo for 3 or 4 days in a row. I started seeing a lot of hair loss last summer. My scalp would get scabs and acne spots. I did a test and stopped using it and my scalp has improved. I would always use Batiste too. Going to try some of your recommendations. Thanks for doing this video!

I would use dry shampoo all the time but then I found it would always leave a residue and make my hair feel like there was something in there. Almost like hairspray. But then I found out that you can use baby powder instead because it clings to oil. I put a little bit of cocoa powder in my baby powder bottle to make it brown since I’m a brunette too and it works perfectly! I try to only use it 2-3 times a week and I wash my hair only every 3-4 days depending.

I’ve used corn starch and chocolate powder in my hair when I’ve run out of dry shampoo and I’ve noticed it works just as well as the real thing, I just like the application a lot more out of a spray bottle. My hair feels way better without either to be honest and I can even see how my natural curls really come out to play when I’m not using it on a daily basis, so I do think you might be on to something
Also, comb through your hair while you have conditioning still in it (yes, in the shower) and start from the ends and work your way up. This is much more gently on hair and a time saver as well

Yessss! I was also in love immediately when I found dry shampoo years ago. And you are right, it isn't good for your hair, because the alcohols dry out your hair, and makes it a bit sticky on your scalp. That's why I also suggest brushing it through. I make a dry shampoo that is a light brown that blends with all colors and textures. (I have a friend who has red curly hair who uses is.) One thing, baking soda is not necessary :( Its so harsh...and there isn't really any purpose for it in the ingredients. When you run out of that one, look for one without baking soda. The PH is just toooo low. Loved this video!

Thank you Nicole for putting this video out. Dry shampoo is overrated and hyped up but really not good for your scalp or health as it seeps into your pores.

Dry shampoo is like alcohol hand sanitizer. It is only a substitute for washing when you don't have soap and water available. Use dry shampoo when backpacking, camping, extended travels, or 24 hour hospital shifts.

This is so weird! I have been trying to figure out why my hair is getting thin, especially around my forehead for the last few weeks and now you post this video! I use dry shampoo maybe once a week now, but I used to use it a lot more. So it very well could be the cause. I’m curious to come back and read more comments to see if other people have the same issue.

Oh my goodness I’ve been having issues with my hair getting thinner and almost brittle around my temple area too for the past year! I hadn’t thought about it being related to dry shampoo but that definitely makes since considering that’s where I use it the most. I was using a natural dry shampoo for awhile and kind of got sucked back into switched back because it wasn’t working as great as I was hoping. Looking back that’s about the same time I was noticing my hair thinning. I’ll have to try the ones you suggested and see if it helps! I used to get a lot of buildup from dry shampoo as well. It was even creating dandruff at times but I found a scalp brush that feels really great when shampooing that’s helped with buildup. It’s called Marvy shampoo brush and scalp invigorator. Definitely recommend it for a nice scalp massage while shampooing!

Omg this is everything I’ve beeb dealing with. I’ve been using that same dry shampoo (batiste) for probably 8+ years. I’ve tried several other ones, but always fall back on old trusty. The last couple years though, I’ve been noticing SIGNIFICANT hair loss especially at my temple areas and hairline in front. So much so that I’ve been concerned it may be a symptom of a more serious health problem or something. But, the last month or two I’ve also been dealing with major dry scalp/peeling issues and that has led me to believe it may be from the dry shampoo due to the nature of its ingredients and it’s tendency to overly dry and absorb natural sebum. I have hair past my butt and it’s been terrifying watching my hairline thing (I’m only 24). Thank you for speaking up about your experience, I will definitely be trying some of the products you mentioned!!

This is definitely something not everyone is aware of until it happens to them! Me included. I was just like you with my dependency on dry shampoo until I noticed my hair thinning exactly where I apply the product. It’s been 9 months since I stopped using dry shampoo and my scalp is loving it! Using little to no hair products combined with oiling weekly, my hair grew back within a few months and I’m so thankful.

Just research some dermatologist papers; some people can have some issues with it:
First, if you clog the pores in your scalp you can make yourself prone to hair loss or seborrhea dermatitis
and second Dry shampoo is, at heart, an oil-absorbing powder, and build-up can irritate your scalp and weaken hair follicles which, in turn, can possibly cause hair to fall out.
(and of course, bleaching hair can make you prone to have hair loss because the structure of the hair has been compromise)

I use dry shampoo pretty often and I've been beginning to suspect that it is causing breakage. After some research, I realized that all spray dry shampoos have denatured alcohol, which is drying, and could definitely be causing that issue. Thanks for this video. My hormones make my hair an ungodly greasy mess within two days after washing. I’ve tried washing less etc but as a regular exerciser I also get a sweaty and itchy scalp a lot. I use the Shea Moisture dry shampoo powder when desperate because I’ve read many spray ones have dangerous ingredients. They didn’t even work well for me. I’m shocked. Before I started using dry shampoo regularly, around 4 years ago, my hair was finally healthy and shiny after being so damaged and over processed. Lately however my hair has been falling out in the shower in small chunks. Not enough to be alarming, but it adds up after a while. Getting rid of the buildup has also been challenging, so I’ll definitely try to implement some of the tips you mentioned like the ACV rinse! In the meantime, no more dry shampoo for a while 😬

A fe drops of rosemary oil in your homemade dry shampoo / texturing hair powder can promote hair growth. In the 18th century Europeans who powdered their hair knew that you have to comb (with wide tooth comb) or massage your scalp well once a day (before going to bed?) to keep powder from clogging pores of the scalp, which will prevent hair loss.

General comment: Try to shower everyday, and eliminate the dry shampoo. if you don't want to use the shampoo use water. That might even help with having oily hair or losing / thinning of hair. If it doesn't help, then it's some chemical imbalance.

Me, too! I actually stopped bleaching my hair two years ago and have completely natural hair. Still I have quite some breakage and was also wondering if dry shampoo is the reason..

I have virgin hair and my hair is thick I decided to try the dry shampoo method to not wash my hair every 3 days mostly because my hair would get very oily within the 2nd day. Furthermore I started to use it once a week for a month and started noticing my hair was thinning and I was losing it as well I don’t use other products or heat tools on my hair I just let it be I will stop using dry shampoo now.

Briogeo Scalp Revival charcoal and biotin dry shampoo is the best (available at well.ca and Sephora. I also have dark roots and blonde highlights. It rubs in so nicely and smells amazing. It’s cleansing and calming for your scalp. Live Clean has a great Apple cider vinegar clarifying shampoo. Also...try a Wet Brush to brush wet hair! I was struggling with hair breakage and find these three products have worked wonders ✌️

Hi Nikole, I wash my hair every day because I get soooooo sweaty at the gym. I wish I could wash every other day. That being said, I used to have blonde high lights in my hair and I also straighten my hair. I do not like my curls. When my hair got to a certain point, it would NOT grow. My hairdresser told me I had to choose between straight or the bleach, my hair couldn't handle both. I chose to go with my natural color and my hair is now very long and super healthy. I use minimal heat and air dry my hair as much as I can. Since I do wash every day I had to be kinder to my hair. I use quality shampoo and conditioner and minimal chemicals including dry shampoo etc. My daughter uses the dry shampoo so I will be sharing this information with her as well. Thanks for the video. Off topic, do you have a video with a recipe for buffalo cauliflower?

You have to dilute it with the same amount of water. So if you take 500mL of ACV then you have to mix it with 500mL of water.

I have been using simple Glutinous Rice Flour (yes, simply from an Indian food store) for years every other day i.e. when u don't shampoo. So it's all natural. Yet, I'm starting to think it may be contributing to the thinning I'm noticing st my temples. I'm going to stop using it completely.

I used to have a lot of hair and then suddenly I notice hat i had half of what i did an dmy texture changes it was like thinner i dont know, i thought it was because of a hormonal thing or coloring it (even though I've done it for years and i dont use bleach) etc I tried soo many things and stopped doing a lot of things to get my hair back having no luck, never thought about it being dry shampoo but I guess maybe it was I stopped using 5 months ago and my hair is sooo much better

Dry shampoo is so popular but I never liked it. I just don't get it. "Don't wash you hair every day to not remove natural oils. use dry shampoo to remove oils"
    .. isn't this contradicting? Maybe I'm just missing something.🤔

  • @poochiejack978

I have never used Dry Shampoo....ever. But, someone just told me about it so I bought it. I am 54 and I have been told by many people that my hair is so healthy and beautiful. My hairdresser says it's super. I don't wash my hair every day. I don't constantly brush or comb it only on wash days. I use my fingers to style and comb on off days. A secret I totally believe in is biotin. I take it everyday or if I'm having whole eggs, I will skip that day. I eat organic ones. I use 2 egg whites with one egg. Or, if my hair is stressed I do both, eggs and capsules (NOW co). This is no joke, many diets deficient in biotin results in hair loss or lack of growth. I know this is totally true because I actually make an egg everyday for my Jack Russell who's 8 years old and he has the coat of a puppy and he doesn't shed like most Jacks do. He is very youthful. Also, blow drying every single day is not good.
I will proceed with caution on the dry shampoo which I bought for vacation.

I think everyone has a little hair loss. I wash my hair every other day, haven’t dyed it in over a decade and I also never blow dry it or use a straighter or curler on it. I do use dry shampoo maybe once a week, and I’ve had hair loss before I ever started using it. I also switched to all natural shampoos and conditioners about 3 months ago. I loose a little hair but it’s still pretty thick.

Idk how people can go days without washing your hair, doesn’t it smell after a while? I can’t go more than one day without shampoo and conditioning my hair! Dry shampoo makes my scalp itch and I find it doesn’t make my hair feel any cleaner, it’s just masks the grease and oil. Girls, just wash your hair.

@studyn00k and @HealthNut Nutrition, good questions I wanted to ask too, what types of shampoo and conditioners do you use or have you mentioned before in another video?
Also, you mentioned apple cider vinegar, do you think then maybe it is a good thing to use in detoxification? Do you know if it alters dyed hair's color?
I can ask my hair dresser that one too.
And lastly, you had mentioned a natural hairspray, do you have a go to or one you always use? May we ask? Or may we ask ones that didnt work well for you, if you have tried others?
