The "Berry" pronunciation is not universal by any means. I was born in Duxbury and have never pronounced it "Ducks-berry". Some people do, but it's not a rule. And please, please: if you are from elsewhere, do not feel compelled to use non-rhotic pronunciations. That accent is slowly dying off, and nobody will be offended if you keep the "r" in.
Thanks for adding that context. I pronounced it without the "Berry" for 6 or 7 years until I kept hearing it pronounced with the "Berry". I think it's not universal for other towns including Roxbury/West Roxbury.
Can't believe you left out Haverhill
That’s a good one that I missed.
Good catch - "Hayv-rull" 🙂
Hi, this was awesome! Can you help with Winchendon? How should I say this word like a New Englander?
Great question I have no idea 🥲 But knowing New England my guess is Win-chin-din!
American teaches people how to pronounce English. Now I've heard everything.
You forgot lestah.
You misspelled Everett and left out Leicester...Nice video!
Thanks and nice catch on Everett!
Thank you for pronouncing "Wareham" the right way. :) If someone says, "Ware-em," I know that they're not from the area.
It's hard not to pronounce it right with all those Wareham Ford commercials on the radio :)
@@tunesman100 so true lol
Omg 😂 I am belly laughing!!! 👏👏👏 🤣 🤣
How could you leave out Athol?
@sjrigatti because I have no idea how to pronounce it ;)
@@tunesman100 it’s ATH-l. Like athletic without the -etic and emphasis on the ATH.
@ sjrigatti I never would’ve guessed that and that is New England for ya!
Dude, this is wicked pissah! But it's pronounced Woostah, Leminstah, Brewstah, etceterah. Just sayin.
Check your spelling of Everett.
