You were actually good natured about that first airbnb. It looked like a nightmare on every level. You survived and enjoyed your trip. Yes - lobster rolls daily!

Yesss I already miss our daily lobsters. And thanks haha I was really trying to be fair and tame my irritation. Glad our second spot didn't disappoint!

Airbnb is always hit and miss. Sometimes you find a gem, sometimes they're quirky and questionable. Which is why I only use Airbnb with my partner!
I've only been to the US once. Turned 30 in NYC and had my first white Christmas! I had a lobster roll from the Chelsea Market, which was amazing. Also had one in Boston, from Luke's Lobster. Haven't found a comparable one here in Australia yet!

hi Jacqueline! Celebrating 30 in the city AND having a white Christmas sounds like a dream! I'm so happy you came here for that, I would totally do the same. Luke's Lobster is one of my favorites, it's the favorite outside on Maine for sure. I go there when I crave a lobster roll in NYC and every now and then I order fresh lobsters from them all the way from Maine.
Are lobster rolls a thing in Australia? I just googled and it seems like you have a ton of different rock lobster varieties. Adding to my wishlist.

@@KateOstre They're not a thing here, unfortunately. I used to make my own to get my fix when I lived inland. Now that I live in Melbourne, I've found some restaurants that offer it. It's more of a gourmet, quirky restaurant item here. Our thing when you're along the coast is fish and chips, and there are huge debates about where the best fish and chips are from.

@@KateOstre I really like Williamstown here in Melbourne for seafood. Off the Pier is my favourite fish and chip shop. If you ever visit Melbourne, you can get the ferry from Southbank to Williamstown and spend the day there.

Have you been to Maine? And would you eat lobster rolls every day or is it just me?

I don't know what that first air bnb was, but it's not a Maine cabin. You're right to be concerned...weird. And that second lobster roll "dinner" at the Lobster Shack is absolutely nothing I've ever seen in my entire life as a Maine resident for a lobster roll (I dont know what the heck that was that they served you). A true Maine lobster roll is nothing more than a grilled roll with fresh lobster meat maybe tossed with a bit of mayo. Warm lobster meat with a bit of melted butter on a roll has started to appear, but it's not traditional. Where did you eat breakfast? It looks pretty good. You go to Portland Headlight EVERY time? Skip it next time...we have lots of other lighthouses...with free parking, and better lobster rolls. You rented a bnb and had to sleep on the couch?! Oh boooo, no way. The Holy Donut...good choice...Portland is notorious for no place to park. It has many parking garages within a 10 to 20 minute walk of wherever you want to be. Not "Bahth"..."Bath", as in tub. Yes, you should stop at Taste of Maine. Bnb 2...excellent. But noise like that happens on a working dock. Aw, relaxed...very nice and only happens when you leave the southern counties...they're all hustle bustle. Come to Midcoast and the vibe is very different. So glad your second round was so much nicer for you. You know...there's an actual Whoopie Pie Festival here every year. And back to the city. I'm really glad that for the most part you had a mostly good visit. Next time? Call me. You're missing out on a lot more that Maine has to offer. Thanks for bringing us with you.
