The saying I always liked was "as long as you can think clearly, you are always armed and always dangerous."
It's a two part saying. Our best tool is our brain. And to be in control of your emotions (anger, fear, pain, etc.) when in a crisis situation.

Option 1. bolt on a string.
You fly. Unassembled. Take a length of 550 cord. Say 28 inches long. Tie the two ends together. Lay it on a table. Now stretch it out - it ends up about 14 inches long - two strands side by side. Pas the loop through the large nut. Fold it around in direction opposite to how it went in. Now loop the loop through the other and tighten. Now you have a nut (piece of metal at the end of the cord). Swing the nut against a target.
Option 2. Master padlock on a string.
Follow the instructions in option 1.
Or, you can put the mater padlock on a finger and have it operate as a one item knuckle buster.

How often do you see/hear of gun violence there? I've watched a couple of UK gang documentaries and they seemed more common than I would have expected there. Genuine question by the way. I've tried to look up different things, but I saw some sites/people saying they are extremely rare and others saying that they are common.

Another great video, I agree 100%. If one chooses to carry a weapon - learn to use that weapon effectively. Myself, I am proficient with nun chucks/sticks, knife, and open hand Tactics. But I do agree with you, IF you choose to carry a weapon - know the weapon AND know yourself, if you weaponize yourself but are reluctant to use it, or don't know if you would use it . don't carry. A weapon can easily be turned against you, in that case it would be better to surrender your possessions. Thanks for the video.

I live in the Democratic People's Republic of New Jersey, so it is hard to get a gun permit. I carry a tactical pen everywhere I go. I occasionally carry a money clip that has a small knife built in it. When I lived in Pennsylvania, I had a concealed carry permit and carry a Walther PPK/S in.380 auto. You asked to hear it. In NJ good luck. I grew up in a crummy urban neighborhood and when i was 16yrs old three kids tried to rob me at gunpoint and my instinct to save my life was grab the gun. Put up a hell of a fight and ended up with a bullet in my thigh and the guy with the gun took one in the gut before i took off. I walked 2 miles to the hospital where the police questioned me and put 2 and 2 together and realized i was involved with the other guy who had been shot and was in critical condition. I plead my case to a jury and spent the next 7yrs of my life in prison. We were both charged (as adults)with aggravated assault with a firearm and discharge of a weapon which is a violent crime and a felony. He had a list of other charges like armed robbery and was sentenced to 15yrs. Long story short my youth was robbed from me, im a felon whos only been arrested that one time and my entire life could've been much different. They painted a picture in court like i was asking for trouble being in that location and i should've called for help. Thats how it works in NJ. Someone breaks in your house and you shoot them, you better pray they don't die. And theyre gonna sue you. My life didnt even srart until i was 23yrs old and some of that institutionalization never goes away. And PTSD i guess i would call it and paranoia . Wtf, ill never get over it. And ill never stop carrying something to protect myself from that ever happening again and ending my life. I love this chanel and i think good people are here. Thats why im sharing this here.❤

You are a voice of reason and common sense. While the 2A may very well be our “permit,” the way laws and perceptions have been imposed and/or altered over the years have led a lot of good people who really only wanted to go about their business into bad outcomes. I don’t know about others, but I never had 10-20-30-etc years of my life that I wanted to spend between court rooms and prisons. I’m all about using the power vested in me by the Constitution and particularly the 1A to change those perceptions and rid our country of tyrannical “edicts,”.
My personal EDC regardless of whether I can carry a pistol consists of a small, bright, handheld light, a knife, and POM OC. I generally can still carry the light if I can’t carry the other two, although I try to avoid such places where those, as well as other items are restricted. Nevertheless, it is important to, and makes us all better prepared citizens (or pilgrims if you subscribe to John Wayne) to apply situational awareness to every place we walk into; to note the exits and any available asset, and to have some sort of plan; to adapt our EDC to the environment such as sidewalks or walking trails (a cane or big stick would not necessarily look out of place, although a sword cane that looks like something Dracula would carry might raise curiosity).
Anyway, keep up your good message. people who are searching and find your channel who are on other side of the fence but are scared might change their attitudes.

Another OUTSTANDING video, Daniel. For me, what I carry is somewhat dictated by the season and what I'm wearing. Right now, it's extremely hot, and Im wearing gym shorts and a tank top. I'm typically carrying an LCP Max or Glock 42, spare magazine, and a floding knife. In cooler weather, I'll carry a larger firearm, probably 2 knives, pepper spray, and maybe a kubaton. I always have some sort of blade and flashlight on me, again, that will change with the season and wardrobe.
And what you carry should relate to the force continuum. If all you carry is a gun, you can't generally be justified in the use a gun unless there is a deadly threat, or threat of great bodily harm. Empty hands skills are the starting point, and they are easy to conceal, lo. But training in all that you carry is an absolute must.

All the training in the world (physical training) means nothing if you're not ready in the mind for what comes after. That goes for any "self defense tool" including your hands and feet.

18 years of bouncing downtown Minneapolis. I have yet to see anyone that isn’t reduced to whining slobbery mess with law enforcement grade OC spray (pepper spray).
Law enforcement grade OC spray is a great non lethal weapon with no liability issues.
Being aware of wind direction is a good thing. Spray, stream and gel options depending on your use scenario. Stream is good for individuals, cone spray for multiple people or a larger target area, gel for indoor use.
High lumen flashlights are often over looked. Use dependable brands like surefire or streamlight.
A lot of people boohoo a strobe option. But I think that comes from people who haven’t ever been in an environment to actually use it.
Strobe is very effective at blinding people or masking your actions from them like reaching for pepper spray or firearm.

Research you locale. See how the political environment is. Read the police blotter.
    Practice, observing your surroundings. Listen.
Volunteer in your local area. A CERT program has lots of information for those with ears.
Personally, I train in Martial Arts every day. Lift weights 3 evenings a week, kettle bell/HIIT 2 evenings a week. On weapons day training, I include the weapon AND other striking and kicking techniques. Even though I use a cane for long distance walking, I still kick, and include using the cane to help balance. I'm mid-60's and when I get too sore to get a good workout, I do a light self defense workout. Some part of my body is sore all the time.
I practice drawing and aiming daily, as well as drawing my knife.
Almost every motion you use daily, including taking your pen from your pocket, can be practice in drawing and striking. I whack my back yard with a machete and tomahawk instead of power equipment. Also use a shovel and pick ax to chop the ground for planting. Using manual tools helps build muscle and coordination for self defense. Also helps toughen up the hands for striking.
    Stretch.

I know people who say you shouldn’t have a knuckle duster or switchblade, or even a zombie knife.
But say assault rifles are ok because you can do more things with them.
    Like target, hunt, collect.
But with those items there is much to do with them.
What arguments are good to use against such mindsets?

I always tell them "Because I can"
I have a very good friend that refuses to take me hunting (I've never been hunting before) because my rifle was an AR and he told me I need a "proper hunting rifle" I still haven't gone hunting.... So my point is do what is legal and what you are comfortable with and don't worry about what others say.
Or go all anti on those people and tell them that "back in the day people used a 7-8 shot lever action and a 6 round revolver" so why the need for more than that 😂😂

My argument is that people gravitate towards certain self-defense weapons because they feel the most comfortable and effective with those things and no one has the right to tell you what you’re not going to be effective with. They say they’re illegal everywhere and that’s just not true. If you can carry legally Knuckles are great form of self-defense

Thanks for the video. The likes are finally starting to show on this video.
I like your approach, but I'd ask the questions in reverse order.
The first issue to examine is what the threats are likely to be. If one is facing rioters, nothing but a semi-automatic firearm is likely to be effective. Against a revolver, rioters will try to get the defender to fire his five shots and then be defenseless. If the first shot goes right between one rioter's eyes, maybe that will dissuade the other ones. For anyone without that level of skill, being able to make attackers believe that they will eventually be shot is important. Conversely, if one is in a rural area and is unlikely to face a crowd, then a five-shot revolver is fine as a self-defense firearm. Against people who aren't that tough and aren't that intent on causing harm, a stun gun might be good enough. While stun guns are sometimes illegal, an advantage to them is that the attacker stopped by a stun gun will be okay pretty quickly. That attacker is less likely to be able to make an effective complaint. Pepper spray is a little higher up the ladder, but again, pepper spray is not lethal. Pepper spray isn't as good a choice in places that are often windy. Many common thugs will change their mind if they are hit hard enough. That can make knuckles or a kubaton a good choice. In places were the attackers don't change their minds until they are physically unable to keep going, one must be extremely strong and skilled to do any good with knuckles or a kubaton. As you said, all of these considerations have to be overlaid with legal issues.
I would keep your second issue in second place, but I'd look at it from the opposite direction. Instead of picking something and asking whether I could become comfortable with it, I would look at what resources were available to become comfortable with a weapon and then consider which resources to pursue. If one lives right around the corner from a martial arts school, one can ask what that school teaches and how much the teaching is oriented towards practical self-defense. If the school teaches something that's going to fit with a kubaton, the a kubaton could become the right choice. If the school teaches knife fighting, then a knife can become the right choice. If I lived where classes were available and I were healthy enough to take the classes, I'd try some classes first and then decide where I might develop comfort. Maybe my first thought is that I'd rather learn kubaton and then carry an old-time Mini-mag flashlight. However, I might find that I get along really well with the teacher at a Filipino martial arts school, so maybe I'll actually end up being more comfortable with a knife because I just like learning from that teacher.
Once I've worked through all of those issues, I think I'd be in a better position to decide what tools are comfortable for me to carry. That would make your first question my third question.
For myself, this works out a couple of ways. I live in a state with Constitutional carry, but I got a permit so that I can carry in other states with reciprocity. I can shoot okay, but I'll never be fast at anything. I don't think I can depend on being able to outdraw a bad situation. Since my health failed, I've found that maintaining my balance takes more energy than it did in the past. I walk with a cane for additional balance aid. That makes a cane a first choice. If I were attacked, my most likely first defense will be a cane strike of some kind. I carry a pocket knife for general utility. I really don't know whether I could draw and cut fast enough for the knife to be a real self-defense tool. If I had a push dagger that was big enough to be effective but could be carried comfortably, that would be my first choice for blade self-defense. I think pepper spray is a great less-than-lethal choice, but I've never found a way to carry pepper spray comfortably.

Cracks me up when people say “a good pair of legs” is the best self defense. For one, some people aren’t in the physical shape/condition for that, whether due to age/disability. For two there’s no guarantee your assailant won’t be faster than you, especially if you’re elderly/a woman. Something that fills the physical gap of strength/speed is necessary for the vast majority of people, as even if you’re trained/physically strong, a self defense situation is distressing/unexpected so you likely won’t be operating to the full of your capabilities and would need something to fill that gap.

  • @DarkNavigator

I carry a knife, a whistle and sometimes a flashlight. Yes, a whistle. Sometimes just drawing attention to yourself is all that is necessary. Sometimes the thing you think is stupid will save your life. Nothing is stupid if it saves your life. Actions speak louder than words. Your ACTIONS can also save your life. Go with instincts. If something feels wrong, leave. Think of your actions. When I was getting pick on by bullies in school as a kid. I would say a joke or a stupid phrase, get them to laughing. Talk about the girls breasts that just walk by. Something to draw attention to something else. Your not a coward if you live to tell about it. Use ANYTHING that is necessary to survive. To fight is go to War. Read book The Art of War. To know your adversary is to know yourself. Think, always remember your actions, your mind set plays a key role in a fight starting in the first place sometimes. Don't let the other person get your head. Stallone in Rambo said, "The mind is the greatest weapon." Well, look at all the weapons we have created with our mind. Yes, Hollywood but it is still true. A smile and laugh is sometimes all you need.
Now if they are stealing from you, breaking into your house, well, that is a direct threat and dictates direct force, of course. These are things a fighter or a person who has fought should already know, but there are some people may not think of, so I put them here. Stay safe.

I only carry what the laws prescribe. I have 5 scenarios:
    1. Nothing, only a rugged mobile like Caterpillar or Blackview for few punches and calling to police. Just hope to predict, avoid and get away. It is always better to run away, than to be involved in unpredictable contact.
    2. Portable micro camera on your clothes. At least you would have evidence.
    3. If crime level is high, then EDC: kubotan tactical pen, pepper gas spray. Well, if your opponent has an allergy for pepper gas, then you can kill him by using it. Or you could be convicted to pay medical allowance for a victim for a life time.
    4. In the case of alien invasion, I get call for military mobilisation. Then I take a combat knife CS Recon tanto, full tang, with myself, and also maybe a folder.
    5. In total Apocalypse, End of days, with no authorities, no radio, or mobile, or Internet connection, I would choose Rambo 4 machete and SOG Tomahawk.
Wish I never used it in contact 🤠
