- The WYCE Live at Wealthy Concert Series helps benefit Grand Rapids area non-profit organizations, and brings in some musical performances you won't find anywhere else in town. Proceeds from this concert went to benefit Ebony Road Players - a local theatre troupe presenting performances that focus on the Black experience.

Known as the "Hendrix of the Sahara," Mali-born Boureima “Vieux” Farka Touré is the son of legendary guitar player Ali Farka Touré. His live performances are highly energized and Vieux is known for dazzling crowds with his speed and dexterity on the guitar, as well as his palpable charisma and luminous smile, both of which captivate audiences in spite of any language barriers, though Vieux speaks eight languages. While remaining true to the roots of his father's music, he uses elements of rock, Latin music, and other African influences to create a sound all his own.

This mans father was the most influential guitarist in recent African history, and he and his father knew and played with the legendary Boubacar Traoré. Dude had an incredible amount of amazing talent to influence him

This wonderful music carried me back to my country Ethiopia which I left 41 years ago. It provoked in me a nostalgic hankering for reconnection with the cultural world, society I knew that is no more there, for dear families and friends that are no more there.
It is a powerful music that connects humanity. Finally I say long live Vieu & his group in my language. ለሁላችሁም ረጅም እድሜና ጤና እመኛለሁ።

Quels musiciens d'exception ! Quelle qualité de jeu, quelle synchronicité entre eux et quelle richesse dans les nombreux rythmes imbriqués les uns dans les autres, on s'y perd avec bonheur ! Saw himm last Friday night in Bristol UK. it was a small seated arena, but he had everyone up and dancing. Exceptional musician, great bass and percussion alongside. I saw a film called Timbuctu a year ago, , about what happened in Mali a few years ago, which was tragic, This performance, for me, was life affirming, for Mali, Africa and the world. William
I love the traditional way Vieux Farka and his band sit to play. The white percussionist dude is totally in the mood! This music makes me so homesick; the sound of Sahel calling.
I set my music to play fatoumata diawara while I slept through the night..this tune woke me up with a smile on my face..new favorite
