I think possible he’s helping them but I think it’s likely that shikamaru anticipated them wanting his help and sending more ninja to his current location to aid yammato and even going so far as to place them inside his hideout to watch his every move and no longer give a shit freedom since before all this his surveillance never went inside of his hideouts but now that there’s the potential of him helping the killer of the hokage and his past with killing kage and aiding sasukes when he went rogue for years then whatever agreement was made after the war for lifetime probation with some freedoms would now be modified. Which is what I’m sure happened since when sasuke and boruto fought code it was on their own with no help from anyone and that includes orochimaru so if he had helped them it’s more likely he did so by offering the bases he’s no longer in which is helping indirectly the same way shikamaru is now helping boruto indirectly as the hokage.

there isn't a sarada one shot. Sarada is the main character of naruto gaiden, which is 10 chapters and Boruto never leaves Konoha.

I think it’s more likely that Sasuke took Boruto to an old abandoned hideout that Orochimaru no longer uses… They might have even used multiple just so they weren’t traced to the same locations.
