    You have a great voice - good explanation of the difference b/w Yaman and Yaman Kalyan. Essentially, by flattening the 4th on Lydian, Yaman Kalyan becomes a regular major scale on a given key (sa).

    Sir, i have been trying to find something on this topic since a long long time and today finally i found your channel. Thank you so much for these. And please if possible make more content on indian classical music and how to harmonize it in western style. There is close to zero content on the internet for this.

    • @KarthikSekaran
      @KarthikSekaran  2 года назад +1

      Thank you so much. Happy to do this. Will make more content on harmonizing.

    • @abdullahshahzad6387
      @abdullahshahzad6387 2 года назад

      @@KarthikSekaran yes pls do. Especially how western harmonization work in context of indian ragas. I never found much on this topic.
      One quick question if you can answer. Do chords function the same way in ragas as they do in major/minor? Meaning - tonic,sub dominant and dominant etc.?

    Karthik Sir,
    I'm a Composer (beginner), But I don't know any instrument, I can just make melodies in my head and write them on my DAW, I hv just started learning Raags, so is it a good approach to learn a raga and then compose a piece in it in my DAW only?? I want to buy an instrument, and also saving for it, but due to lack of family support I was never allowed to learn or practice music at home, but I want to learn whatever I can in this situation too, is it okay to study as much theory as I can and later practice it on an instrument, please guide me.

      Hi Pramod. So I play F major when I start singing in Yamuna Kalyani. Yamuna Kalyani is derived from Kalyani and has both the Ma in it. Thats why F major will fit i places where the regular Ma comes in. Hope this helps.

    Why not use the ledger lines and show the notes as in western musical notation. It is the most scientific method to write music. Please show Indian ragas and songs using western musical notation.

    • @KarthikSekaran
      @KarthikSekaran  2 года назад

      Hey that’s a great suggestion! I didn’t know my audience had people who would need that. Will certainly incorporate that going forward. 🙏🙏

      Thank you. It is not difficult, use a key board play the scale and musical phrase and transfer the notes from it to the music sheet.
