  • @rbjoseph25

    IDK if it would be easier for you. But the way I do keepers is, I put a tiny bit of axle grease on the end of a pocket screw driver, stick the keeper in the correct orientation to the grease, and put it into place

    • @CIPGAS
      @CIPGAS  4 года назад

      Thanks for the advise! I still have the other head to do so I’ll definitely give it a try.

    • @CIPGAS
      @CIPGAS  4 года назад +2

      Btw using grease and the small screw driver made this so much easier.

    I've done that job on a 16 valve kawasaki zxr750 without taking the head off (using the rope trick)
    The easiest way to get these retainers in is using a magnetised screwdriver and a small dab of grease on the retainer. That way it sticks to the valve and makes this nightmare of a job, not too bad.

    Quick question if you can, do you just use the oil the car uses? Seems like a dumb question but also one that could be make or break in my mind so I wanted to know

    • @CIPGAS
      @CIPGAS  Год назад

      Yes. Any oil will work really but ideally use what the car will end up using.

    Not sure if I remember correctly or not, but the drivers side head # of links between the the two cam shaft marks is 15 1/2 links, the Bentley manual is incorrect, I found out the hard way, fortunately fixed it, runs good now...

    Did you replace your cam cap bolts? Someone on the Zine is telling me they’re stretch bolts and I should replace them. Just curious what your approach was. I’ve reused stretch bolts in the past for certain things, but I know some are 100% replace and other you can send it. Thanks!

    • @CIPGAS
      @CIPGAS  4 года назад

      I don’t think those are stretch bolts man. They’re only supposed to be torqued to about 10NM and I doubt it would stretch that easily. In my opinion you’re good to re use them. I always do.

    Do recall what tensioners you used ? OEM or aftermarket?

    • @CIPGAS
      @CIPGAS  3 года назад +1

      They were aftermarket Bremmen

    What made you not go with the 2.8 heads or 2.8 cams?

    • @CIPGAS
      @CIPGAS  4 года назад

      Wasn’t going to be a big benefit with the setup I had. I did do a single turbo build now and that has 2.8 heads with a port matched manifold

    You forgot to mention the head must be put back to the bottom block before bolting the valve cover, you don't do this on the bench. The plugs are also easier (less damageable) before bolting the cap

      @CIPGAS  3 года назад +1

      Mentioned at 11:34 in the video.

    Hello brother, can you help me, I need to know how is the sequence to mount the camshafts and the torque of the bridge screws that hold the camshafts please.

    • @CIPGAS
      @CIPGAS  4 года назад

      Hey man. You should start with the intake camshaft and tighten from the center outwards. It will take about 3 sequences to get the cams down all the way
