Kanami wrote this song after losing someone close to her. SAIKI wrote the lyrics not knowing that fact but the words mesh well together
This someone close to her was Kanami's grandmother...
The more I’ve listened to Magie, the more I like it. It just has one note in the chorus that kind of sours the song. The studio version specifically had Miku mixed in much better and the harmonies really help the rest of the song to shine.
Now, Forbidden Tale is just in a class of its own. It’s my favorite track on the album right now.
The songs already released earlier in the year are just Band-Maid awesomesauce! The six new songs are so tightly integrated and complex, it's going to take a Tokyo minute to assimilate. But I already love Forbidden Tale, and especially The One. 😉🤘 btw - We should all wish a "Good Luck" to Band-Maid's new self-run management company: Maidit, Co., LTD! Will they managing other bands, boost Cluppo and Maiko projects, or tour more internationally? Or maybe they will expand their business interest to other sectors of the music biz outside of Band-Maid. I believe Kanami wants to get more into composing, scoring and production. And as for Miku and Saiki, the sky's the limit for what they'll want to do in merch, fashion and art, etc.. Thx, Beth!
Their albums always get better and better as you relisten, and often just keep getting better even after listen #1,000. This album I loved from the start, so DAMN am I gonna love this in a couple of years!

Glad to see you again Beth. I believe Kanami may have lost her Grandmother and it made her think about life and what is it really all about. The hand and shadow, ghost as I see it, separating in absolute death, then come together after the acceptance of death.
Agreed about several listens to come to grips both lyrically and musically. This is such strong song writing.....plain and simple.
Best rock band on the planet.
And honestly it's not even close.
Oddly, the studio version of Magie is better than the live. Many fans lukewarm on the live enjoyed the studio version.
The One from the new album is many people's favorite.

The mix on the studio version is perfect. Made me appreciate the music, which I loved live, even more.
In my experience, even if I like the live version of a B❤M song better, it's partly because the studio version has helped me better understand what's going on.

You really can't give your friends one Band-Maid song to listen to and expect them to understand the band. You'd have to get them to listen to one entire album or drag them to bandmaid live. 😂
BTW, forbidden tale had the same effect of a powerful ballad on me.
The older you get, the more the song resonates with you. We all were young and fearless at one point, we've through a romantic relationship or two, times when we needed someone or something to get through hard times and get back on our feet. It's a very emotional song.

Hi Beth! Totally agree with your comments. They are so awesome but it's so hard to describe. I usually say something like "hard rock mostly, but sometimes not and it can be literally anything. But listen closely enough and you'll understand. And important - give them 10 to 20 songs before you make up your mind. Big ask, but they're toast if they do that.
