  • If we want to become the person that God created us to be, we MUST be congruent in everything we say and do. But what does a life of congruency look like? How do we know if we are incongruent? And what steps can we take to consistently walk out what we are called to do?

    Whew - when you mentioned that the picture of in-congruence is Saul. Whew. Lord, I pray for a soft heart, for all of us.

    I’ve lost countless blessings due to the lack of a fear of God! Thinking that Grace will keep me even though I fall. True repentance is needed and accountability as well. I had neither and I felt kicked out of God’s promise land but I’m working through it and humbly, I accept what the Lord does. I am one of the examples of (what not to do) 😅

      Every moment in His presence where we are reminded we are forgiven and His children is a sweet moment not dictated by who WE are or what WE’VE done but by who HE is and what HE’S done!!!

    Listening to this during my Friday morning workout and had to drop the weights for the ministry moment and repent but ONCE AGAIN, Pastor Pres was all in my business. Thank you for making us better with conviction and intentional obedience. This was 🔥!

      On another note, than you Mr. Morrison for your ministry. You cover all the "old fashioned" stuff and it's always so refreshing and relevant. I'm from the other side of the world 🇧🇼 but you're one of the people I hope to meet in heaven, if it doesn't happen in this life time.🌍

    What a bullseye this was. I never saw it before but yes anxiety can most definitely be tied into living with that tension coming from a lack of congruency because we know it's bringing a lack of peace, yet we choose it. And in my experience just as fear and love don't co-exist, peace and anxiety don't either.

    You know - this makes me think of how the Bible applies in so many ways. The word persecution, for example. For someone in Iraq or China persecution literally means giving up their lives. For someone in the corporate ladder in a worldly marketing company, maybe persecution is going to look like, people may hang out less or filter their conversations around you because they know you won’t cuss or they know you won’t talk about filthy things. Or sometimes you get low-key mocked because you’re doing something different or choose not to go to every event. You may feel persecuted or slightly ostracized or marginalized because of the fact that you won’t compromise your standard. You’re willing to be with them, but you’re not willing to move your perspective for them. And so to anybody reading this, maybe the hardest part of being congruent in the Christian walk will be the fact that you may have to have slightly different dynamics at work from now forward. But if you are a follower of Christ, persecution was guaranteed, he just never said how it would look.. just thought that came to my mind around this convo.

    Good, good Preston and Todd. Pausing to do a repentance prayer was exactly what I needed. Thank you both. Mr. Todd, I can’t wait to check out the Between the Lanes. Thanks for plugging it 🔌. Yall conversation was rich and got me inspired to write ✍🏾 down my values because to be honest, I don’t know what they are. Probably, most likely will play this episode again as usual 😊. Yall have a blessed and wonderful day ❤

      @@prestonmorrison4094 How do you get past the shame? I know that I need to receive and embrace how God views me vs. how I view myself. What else can I do to help get beyond that?

    • @prestonmorrison4094
      @prestonmorrison4094 5 месяцев назад +2

      Ephesians 3:12 helps us see the countenance we can have. Because we can go in boldly, it shows God is holding his head down. Neither should we. The Father receives us based on Jesus’ resume. I am not received because of my good works or rejected because of my bad works. I’m received because of Jesus perfectly finished work. Better behavior doesn’t make me better, so worse behavior doesn’t make it worse.

    My struggle is actually pretty superficial! Like if I am in a spiritual valley and I don’t want church people know, I struggled if I put on my smile to serve to tell how much God loves us while I internally struggle faith in him. I am feeling like a hypocrite. If this ever happen, should I just don’t go church?

    Much appreciation for the message of this conversation. However, might I draw your attention to an aspect of your conversation when speaking of incongruency in athletics. You gentlemen call out Michael Jordan whose reign was from the 80' and 90'. As Leaders you must begin to bring congruency into your speech for future generations. This particular aspect of your conversation made me question how our unconscious or conscious bias is a prime example of incongruency in our lives. Could not you have called out Brett Favre or Aaron Rogers' lack of accountability; their incongruency instead of Michael Jordan's? Come on Leaders, let us take the beam out of our own eye...
