Spoken too soon...my Octatrack mk2 arrived today and it's faulty. Gotta send it back. This makes me think thought, what do you think about the mk2 vs mk1 in terms of sound/headroom? Do you notice a difference? Lately the look of the mk1 has grown on me + it doesn't have rubber coating on the buttons that will turn to goo in my climate...could save me some money by getting that one.
100 percent theres better converters in the mk 2. I did a thing where I used two Octatracks with a mixer one being a mk I and the other a mk 2 and the difference in sound quality was enormous.
I remember watching the twitch streams over and over a few years ago! I had just gotten the 404sx and learning it. Have you checked out the sp404mk2? Currently rocking it. Got really lucky and recieved it december last year. Please come to Oslo if you are touring, I got to see you in München in 2016, would love to experience it again! Much love tobby.
You do the coolest slicing I've heard yet... I picked up an OT to remix my old groups' songs, and by observing your workflow I've finally started getting 'somewhere' with it! Thank ye godz that the OT timestretches, because, we played waaaaaay off time back then. I guess if you have difficulty finding one whole bar in perfect time, best skip the whole section, right? Or... maybe waste a lifetime and try to nudge the microtiming to make everything fit in time? Why do I hate myself so much? 😬
