Keeping both eyes open for aiming is actually a valid (and in some cases superior) shooting method. It allows better depth perception and can help with retaining better focus on the situation. It can also help prevent you from aiming too low or too high. Shooting with one eye on the other hand, can prevent distractions, make it easier to make out distant details and prevent double vision. Typically single eye shooting is used by snipers, novice to intermediate shooters or hobbyists. Professionals, SWAT teams and many soldiers in the military tend to employ shooting with both eyes. My guess on why Arthur uses both eyes is because he was taught how to shoot by older members of the posse. Some of which were former military (like Bill Williamson). Arthur's father was also an outlaw, so it would make sense that Arthur probably had better teachers. John may use one eye for his shooting because he'd formerly been an orphan, and was probably mostly self taught before he had been adopted into the gang. Of course, both methods have their advantages and disadvantages, are both valid and sustainable, and at the end of the day whoever shoots straightest won't typically depend on how many eyes you use.

I have another theory that the reason for Arthurs ticking sound when deadeye is activated is because of the small amount of time he has to react quickly and draw his gun out on his opponent, whilst Johns sound of a heartbeat means that he must keep his composure during a draw.
One thing I noticed on the walking animation is that Arthur doesn’t put his right forward too much. He keeps his right close to his holster whenever he walks.
The fact that Arthur doesn't close one of his eyes while aiming proves that he has at least two decades worth of practice. Canonically I think he was 36 when he passed away.
I love john, i like the man he comes right after he witnesses how his friend died helping him, he made sure Arthur died for a reason by chasing every last one of them but most importantly imo was the fact that he started taking his father duties seriously and raised his family.
hell geah bro everytime you stop playing rdr2 arthur will slowly come out of his grave and he will come to your house at night while you're sleeping and he will eat your ahh.
I think the reason John closes that eye is either a detail he had in RDR1 (I’ve never played it so tell me if he closes his eye) because the swimming thing transferred to RDR2 because in RDR1 they didn’t want the player to explore outside the map closed off by water, but another reason he closes his eye might be because he’s blind in it, because when I’m the mission with Javier when you rescue John, his eye is bloody and looks like it’s badly injured to even missing, so it’s probably just that scar
I feel like the deadeye sound is a testament to their skills in deadeye. Arthur's is slow and quiet enough that you could hear his watch ticking while John's is significantly slower and quieter causing him to hear his own heartbeat.
The Ticking sound on Arthur's dead eye speeds up after he finds out he has TB, it only happened for me once I did the mission where you see the doctor in Saint Denis

One thing I noticed on the walking animation is that Arthur doesn’t put his right forward too much. He keeps his right close to his holster whenever he walks.
by the way the dead eye is the same for both, it only changes because of Honor. Low Honor and High Honor has different Dead Eye noises.
Wrong, JM's deadeye use RDR1's deadeye sound effect.
wrong, J hon marsfon

Bro causally roasted John on that second one and thought we didn’t notice.
That of the dead eye..
Actually has differences depending of the honor you have
If its low, no heartbeat
The fact that Arthur doesn't close one of his eyes while aiming proves that he has at least two decades worth of practice. Canonically I think he was 36 when he passed away.
Don’t worry John, I can’t swim well neither. 😂
YOU COULDN'T SHOOT A FART OUT OF YOU'RE OWN ASS!!!!
Dude the music is so cool how can l get it?
I love john's deadeye sound more, cus when i hear the ticking as arthur it is so uncomfortable😭
Yhea to me John's just sounds better
actually Arthur's dead eye varies depending on honor, you can hear a heartbeat in high honor but only the clock on low honor
Looks like arthur keeps both eyes closed 😂😂😂
*12 years later*
John's Dead Eye sounds are exactly the same as in the first game
Ya
Keeping both eyes open during aiming is often practiced in military to keep same sight range.
I am comment number 1000 :D - I wish John had his own set of animations and such
Me too
Naw, that last one. Sent a shiver down my spine. It all makes sense now
I enjoyed playing as John more
W
Ya same here even tho it ain’t rdr1 John
I love john, i like the man he comes right after he witnesses how his friend died helping him, he made sure Arthur died for a reason by chasing every last one of them but most importantly imo was the fact that he started taking his father duties seriously and raised his family.
ah shit guess i am playing it once more
you should never stop playing
hell geah bro everytime you stop playing rdr2 arthur will slowly come out of his grave and he will come to your house at night while you're sleeping and he will eat your ahh.
@@William11987 bro WHAT
Bro you forgot to compare their drawing/painting skills
sounds at dead eye different depends on your honor
عالییی😂😂❤❤❤ولی یوسف دیگه rust نمیزاری😓
Erm yeah I can't swim...
@Rip_van_winkle-rdr2 John Marston you're finally here I've been waiting for ya you damn fool
@@VRimpressions oh um abijail was yapping again..

@@NateS917 yuh huh
I think the reason John closes that eye is either a detail he had in RDR1 (I’ve never played it so tell me if he closes his eye) because the swimming thing transferred to RDR2 because in RDR1 they didn’t want the player to explore outside the map closed off by water, but another reason he closes his eye might be because he’s blind in it, because when I’m the mission with Javier when you rescue John, his eye is bloody and looks like it’s badly injured to even missing, so it’s probably just that scar
Arthur best ❌
John best ❌
RDR2 best ✅
BEAUTIFUL VÍDEO 😍😍
Hi
Hello
Good afternoon
@@BlaZe92Damn.... Didn't know you were chill like that
I feel like the deadeye sound is a testament to their skills in deadeye. Arthur's is slow and quiet enough that you could hear his watch ticking while John's is significantly slower and quieter causing him to hear his own heartbeat.
Hello
Hey bro!
The Ticking sound on Arthur's dead eye speeds up after he finds out he has TB, it only happened for me once I did the mission where you see the doctor in Saint Denis
I always like John better. RDR2 doesn’t compare to RDR1 in my opinion.
LOL
If you play as Arthur you would know it
@@balajik2681 elaborate?
That's why you are a blind fanboii in my opinion 😂
@@c_y_b_e_r_b_o_ii maybe I just have opinions that differ from yours. Try not to let that blow your mind.
Dead eye in the red dead universe is the state of pure focus
John marston in rdr1 ☠️🥶
I didn't know Arthur and John had different Dead Eye sounds till now.
Arthur is a real sniper, they close the eye the aren’t aiming with when they sight in, then open it up again for peripheral vision.
