My family & I have encountered James Cawley 3 times, once during the Star Trek Missions 50th anniversary con in NYC, then twice at his Trek set museum in Ticonderoga. He is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. He's approachable, funny, gracious, and--if he overhears you talking about lunch like he did with us---gives directions to local restaurants. One time we visited in our Trek shirts for a family tour and wedding anniversary treat. James congratulated us and remarked, "The family that treks together stays together." Then this past May we visited for another family set tour (and a family portrait on the bridge set at the tour's end), and he joked with my dad since he's joining his grandkids here, visiting the set will become a family tradition. We agreed and said we looked forward to bringing 'the next generation' to visit the set. Indeed.
Always enjoy seeing James talk about Star Trek, you can really tell how much he loves it and especially the Original Enterprise. It is definitely a ship (and a show) which can unite people through years no matter when you were born! I also love that all of the recent photos I have seen of him he is wearing Batman t-shirts!
James is one of my hero's, great interview ( not only am I a trek fanatic but I'm an Elvis super fan ) you guys make great vids , thank you very much 💖🖖
I would love to see reproductions of every STAR TREK series set made to be museums for the fans. And put all of them in a central location of the US, so that everybody can get to them more easily than having to go to one coast or another. And then, I want to see all of the sets built again, but built to be used for fan productions. So they would have to be more sturdy and robust than the sets that are built as museum pieces. And, we do not want to forget sets for smaller ships like the Shuttlecraft Galileo, the Enterprise D Shuttlecraft, the Runabout USS Rio Grande forward section to back section, the Delta Flyer front and back sections, the Klingon bird of prey bridge, the Enterprise refit bridge, the Enterprise A bridge, the Excelsior Bridge, the Enterprise B bridge, the Enterprise C bridge, the Enterprise E bridge, The Reliant bridge, The Grissom bridge, a Romulan bridge, Re-dressable starbase and Starfleet sets, planet Hell sets.
James Cawley seems like a wonderful guy. I'd love to meet him someday and thank him for all he's done for Star Trek fandom.
Fun interview! James seems like a great guy.

I wish someone would build the D sets because that is MY Enterprise. But I'd still love to go visit those sets, they look amazing!
The D bridge has been built and will be on display in the hollywood scifi museum
Oh nice! I guess I'll have to figure out how to get there some time.
Cawley is building those sets in Ticonderoga, too!
James Cawley makes a superb James T. Kirk.
James sounds like he's a funny guy.

Rock on James. \V/,
Great interview. I have not heard if they are able to continue with the new CBS regs. Do you know if they will be?
The sets that Cawley built are an official licensed tour attraction by CBS now. Cawley will no longer be producing New Voyages/Phase II.
that is sad
Now that guy's got some fearsome hair. :D
envious of you guys getting to hang out with James.
