The question is, after you have done this modeling part, how is this going to be a game ready model topologically? u have used maya's smooth preview, and especially the opening in the belt is not ideal if you are going to turn the preview off and take it as a 3d model. And the question 2 is: lets say that you have modeled a good looking glock-18 and you dont have to have normal maps, there isnt any minor details. But its low poly and in some areas you can see some troubles, would you bake high poly to low poly anyways? just to make model understand how it is going to behave for shadows? Thank you from now on.
