  • An unforgettable journey into the heart of West African rhythm and tradition recently unfolded at the residential Djembe workshop held in India from May 9th to 12th, 2024. Led by renowned Grand Master Babara Bangoura, along with Balafon Master Sory Diabate, DjembeFola Bibiche Sambou Fakoly, and DjembeFola Mohamad Camara, this immersive experience brought together 24 passionate students from across the country.
Throughout the workshop, participants delved deep into the rich history and intricate techniques of Djembe, Dunun, and Dance, guided by masters with unparalleled expertise. Grand Master Babara Bangoura shared not only the rhythms but also the stories and cultural significance behind each beat, offering a profound insight into the essence of West African music.
From dawn till dusk, the workshop echoed with the sounds of Djembe, resonating with the dedication and determination of each student to honor the centuries-old tradition. It served as a powerful reminder of the discipline and commitment required to truly master the art of Djembe, contrasting sharply with superficial attempts at imitation.
As the workshop culminated in a mesmerizing 15-minute performance by Grand Master Babara Bangoura, the collective efforts and achievements of the students were showcased in a breathtaking display of skill and passion.
Join us as we celebrate the transformative power of music and culture, and embark on a journey that transcends borders and connects souls through the universal language of rhythm.
