actually he is right these little 2wd cars do not have a gearbox. they have an open ball differential sitting on a drive shaft to both rear wheels, they are direct drive cars which means the motor pinion goes right to the spur gear which is also the differential, which is why they are so fast. to Adrian the commentator probably meant to say rear pod issue, as this is a huge key factor in traction with these cars, if its not built or setup right it just wont work how u want it too.
I cant believe how entertained I am watching a bunch of toy cars racing around lol. (Dont get butthurt about the word "Toy". I know these are serious builds and people. Take a joke)
You have one gear, and it's used to tell the car the top speed/acceleration ratio. It's only one, but you can switch it to what you want. And guess what the gear is put inside? Yes, a box.
They don't!, you can use gears on the dirveshaft but as an easier way to vary speed you just need to vary the Frequency or Current depending if its a AC or DC motor. All what a electic motor is some copper coils and a 'core' which is really just a metal block.
What else would they do? Strap the motor directly to the differential? Electric motors may be torque monsters but not enough for direct drive, at least not on a twisty track like this.
Marius You shouldn't talk about things you know nothing of.. The cars in this vid are 1:12th electric rwd pan cars. The rear wheels are mounted on a shaft with a spur-gear one side that all so works as a diff. The gearing on these are "open" (motor-pinion-spur-read wheel) and NOT in-closed in a box.
Unless u own 1, drive 1, or have direct knowledge of 1, why comment, seriously, try google 1st u would get more "correct" info, these are ONROAD 1:12th REAR WHEEL DRIVE ELECTRIC PAN CARS,-- they have ONE SPEED, NO SHIFTING NO CLUTCH, NO CLOSED BOX, you use a ESC "elec speed control" on the car to adj power and other power settings and they use ONE pinion on the solid rear shaft and same "1 PINION on the motor shaft to make drive, diff tooth pinions change top speed etc, they are nothing like the "touring" type 1:10th scale 2 speed gear box 4WD driven "nitro" cars, that are belt driven with 2 gears a trans & clutch etc..I race both and speak frm experience.. Dunno how to make it any clearer, go to a track and have a look, or use google/images if need be "then u can delete Ur comments" Lol.... Rant ova!
Ian Bett haha same.. i drove alot of practice laps with my serpents b4 racing them.. but... i wanted to start racing and decided 2 throw myself in the deep end "racing" 12th scale mod class 1st.. then when i raced my serpent 1:10 & 1:8 onroad it was a very very diff feel.. maybe I just had more confidence afta running mod 12th scale.. but 110% agree with your comment.. I have the 977 and 747 but have come to prefer my 120LTX and 12th scale pan racing as a whole now..
Me too! :-) I started 1/12th mod first, then ended up winning state titles and even a national title in other classes. Even came seventh at the world TCS championships in Japan in Lemans class. But 12th scale died off here years ago unfortunately. 1:8 offroad is all the go these days, not a huge offroad guy. I like the precision and close racing in on road.
Awesome! U did well ;-) 1:10 and 1:8th onroad has full fields here but since we had 1 of the rounds of the AOC "asian onroad championship" here last yr 1:12th just exploded, most the 1:10/1:8 onroad tracks are a decent coup hrs drive for ev.. we just had a new indoor world class facility open up round the corner from me, (adrenaline arena) mylaps timing etc, this yrs AOC will b held there in july, so ill run my 12th this yr against ronald volker etc, its a huge turn out.. off road is huge here as well but im def a onroad guy liking the same aspects as you..

Great track!! so # 9 M.M. about 20 years ago, In the same class with him. I was a B final :D anyway, Good memory & good luck all rc fans!
That grip tho...
I cant believe how entertained I am watching a bunch of toy cars racing around lol. (Dont get butthurt about the word "Toy". I know these are serious builds and people. Take a joke)
You still need a way to transfer power from the motor to the wheels. Hence gears.
The guy meant a full transmission box. Obviously there is some form of a gear box to transfer power from the motor to the differential to the wheels.
love the helicopter style shots
nice video anbelivebol
thats one hell of a camera man
well actually pancars are direct drive. incase all 45 of you were curious
o my gosh this is awesome
You have one gear, and it's used to tell the car the top speed/acceleration ratio. It's only one, but you can switch it to what you want. And guess what the gear is put inside? Yes, a box.
no shifting, just a pinion on the motor to connect to the drivetrain via a clutch, just like a gas RC
Wow, I actually thought it was speeded up until I seen the guy walking, amazing hand and eye co-ordinating, I struggle with my mardave lol
Epically fast!
ive seen them going round a track in real life! man it seems they go round corners faster than f1 cars, however you crash once, your cars fucked up
They don't!, you can use gears on the dirveshaft but as an easier way to vary speed you just need to vary the Frequency or Current depending if its a AC or DC motor. All what a electic motor is some copper coils and a 'core' which is really just a metal block.
So he said it, plus i own one of these and they definitely have a gearbox. They dont shift but they have a gear box.
Camera man must be very good to keep up with these
I love Radio Le Mans!
Were do you get those cars
naon eta teh?
How fast do these cars go?
What class rc is that is that faster then x0
i love how at around 2:05 the driver was like screw corner marshells and rammed back on the track hahaha ima try that not
Noob question, what class of car are these?
What else would they do? Strap the motor directly to the differential? Electric motors may be torque monsters but not enough for direct drive, at least not on a twisty track like this.
i'm more impressed with the camera man
But electric motors don't use gears ?
Are these guy running brushless?
electric rc?
Im feeling like a cat watching a laser pointer
Actually, they do have gears. Not Many, but they do have.
They must be going at least 50mph in my opinion, maybe faster.
Prince Jamie The 7th what car it is?
Of course they use gears! They aren't direct drive... They have a spur and pinion. They are single speed.
Marius You shouldn't talk about things you know nothing of.. The cars in this vid are 1:12th electric rwd pan cars. The rear wheels are mounted on a shaft with a spur-gear one side that all so works as a diff.

Normaly they are without transmission, but even all of the 1/14 Tamiya Trucks have 3 gears ;). So i think RC Cars with transmission isnt impossible.
They have a transmission
These cars only have one gear and no actual gearbox, just a pinion gear and differential, but he had to make the commentary accessible to the layman.
They are direct drive, no transmission.
I don't want to dissapoint you but automatic cars also have gear boxes..
Makes my off-road cars look slow and I'm running a 6.5
@adriandecater You would be surprised what these cars have. They have pretty much the same adjustments as real cars.
this is so entertaining lol
Very fast. I want one
what did the commentator said at 3:57 gear box issue ...i didnt know these cars have gear box ...lol
that is true
I'm BACK !!!
wtf these are pretty much the fastest class in all of rc round a track
i think for what that is its actually quite impressive, was getting into it too at 2:10 i almost yelled hoooly shit
holy shit they are so fast :o
some rc cars do racing ones depends your avrage rc car will not have it but racing ones will and gasoline ones will
Yall got the points backwards
SoundWave0320 Ty grth rvf tenqueu pr brasil re
@fpetergriffin1 They are chuck norris'es sons. ;D
i bet this is soo hard to do...
Did anyone else get dizzy as fuck watching this?
RELEASE THE KITTENS!
They got some rediculous acceleration :-[
And the crowd goes wi-....oh wait.
*Co-ordination
They're not really that fast are they? How do....how?!! lol
Christ they look like slot cars!

12th scale is the best test of a drivers skill in my opinion. I started in 12th scale and everything seemed easier after that :-)
Ian Bett haha same.. i drove alot of practice laps with my serpents b4 racing them.. but...

@fpetergriffin1 ikr. i dont understand lmao
niggah wtf do you think it runs on a god damn hamster with a car body?
@fpetergriffin1 Chuck Norris pilots all of them
shit there quick
WTF AM I WATCHING
3:57 ?!! when did 1/12 have gear boxes?!! WHAT
