@@mdz_jimmy it doesn’t exactly bother me as much but I can see why it would tick people off. I do admit the UI a cluster fk to use and getting locked out of the menu when loading is annoying. It depends whether the little loading globe logo is on the screen. I think they can implement a shortcut button to queue within training mode. So if you want to lab something specific you can “Quit Ranked Mode” lab it out then use a button to immediately requeue again without having to interact with the menu. I do think these issues need to be vocalized more and I just now realize how little to none these complaints are made in the internet. Hope they can make some of these changes sometime soon.
I remember when i first went into rank and my character had modern controls default and it took me some time to learn how to switch it, whenever you're not playing the actual game you really don't want to press any button in this shitty UI
Sorry about the wall of text but just had some thoughts and some tips for helping. It's quite mixed but the main issue that I agree on is that it's bad menus for sure. I agree about it being "cryptic" or basically you have to explore to find out. That's a shorter time needed for adjustment but still it could be better. Even though it's not easy to navigate even then. But the bgm list setting is when you are a higher up level in the gui. It makes total sense it's just there. Bgm specific menu under a bgm menu? How is that strange? It's hard to discover, that I can agree on. Thank consoles for shitty menu, 100% it's the #1 reason it is this way. I've always found that games that are cross-platform has a big impact and it is probably the worst menu system of games in my experience. Then there are the reasons why it's like it is. The training mode + search on is the effective way for being a default. The filter is obvious in replay. Why would you need to stop the search while killing time between matches? Rhetorical question. If you are playing ranked I'm very confident to say most people don't just do one and turning off for training mode no queue. If you are gonna play more ranked but want to have longer time to be in training before it, you can dismiss accepting the match. There are solutions for making it impossible to find a new ranked while training mode search is on, for PC at least, you'd need to be able to press a button on it if you play on console but depending on setups it's different in difficulty of writing the search off with just one binding in a script. A little something that blocks via firewall is an example. Not recommending and just mentioned it. Honestly you call bad efficiency or something else bad for what you personally like when you were on the ranked stuff.
Actually , if you set a function button short cut for online match making in training mode, you can instantly pause the rank search , then play with your menu. Then you’ll bypass the menu button freeze when searching for match.
Watching replays directly from match history (or on someones profile), accepting custom room invites is extremely unintuitive , sometimes not being able to say no to a match in Battle Hub when someone steals the cab. To name a few extra.
Training mode doesn’t automatically search for a match unless you specifically tell it to. You absolutely can enter training mode without searching for a match.
When you said you had to optimize the UI, it reminded me of a comment I saw on Angrybird’s video saying “he’s doing combos to the menu.” 🤣🤣 it’s accurate. Since I play on xbox, I can bring up the xbox menu to cancel match making so I can actually pause. Super annoying
This is just the tip of the iceberg too, there are SOOO many issues with the UI and a clean user experience. I truly believe that menu systems today are being designed by people with severe ADHD, or one group is just not talking to the other. BUT you only need ONE freaking menu with a few shortcut keys for matchmaking and other frequently used options. I don't think it's intentional, I just don't know what it was...
yeah i agree that replay options part just drive me up the wall and the menu get on my nerves too. its so strange that capcom has this weird mix of for a good thing they have/do there's this other annoying/bad thing and its like what weird balance is this lol
This is why Japan’s tech dominance hit a wall in the ‘90s. They could build the best hardware, create iconic games, lead the world in gadgets but their Achilles’ heel was the software. All those little quirks and limitations that just didn’t translate to the West. It wasn’t just language; it was culture embedded in the code. Incompatible with anyone outside the bubble.
My favourite is having to leave ranked on tilt, have to go all the way back to the first screen to load up, then you can access the 'leave to desktop'. Does it on purpose so you cant escape the game 😂
i only recently realised that they added a shortcut to enter training mode from the main menu, which ironically makes it quicker to exit out of fighting grounds and use the shortcut than to go into training from the fighting grounds menu. Just be glad you don't use battle hub jimmy, you'd probably have had an aneurysm by now.
To this day, I still have no idea how to change the "Move Name Display" language. It's always greyed out so it's like it's there for no reason. (Edit: just found it's only available when the language is set to Chinese, very weird restriction) Also, World Tour's training mode is so bare-bones that there's not even an option to change health so that means it's nearly impossible to test certain perks and CA's
I can sense that the menu configuration in SF6 was deliberately designed to trigger users like jimmy as a form of Satsui no Hado since they were never going to main Akuma.
I play on series x, if I press menu button first, I can access training mode options. Not sure if this is a glitch or just limited to console. Try pressing menu button first, the search prompt says paused, press it again, kinda curious if this works for pc as well.
I feel like an absolute god among men when I see people complaining about even slightly wonky UI lol. The only trouble I have with the menus is when checking replays, aside from that it's not that bad.
I personally find the game to be not that fun. Win or lose I'm usually frustrated with it and feels like I'm forcing myself to play (cause everyone else is) especially compared to the amount of fun i get playing fighters such as MVC2, Guilty Gear, Blazblue, DBFZ, Third Strike, Alpha 3, USF4, Tekken Tag...the list goes on 😺
If you turn on casters for a replay and then go back to ranked, the game will keep the casters on until you back all the way out to the main menu where you are allowed to disable them again.
Love this game but the menus are overall split terribly and interact with each other terribly, and don't get me started on region based matchmaking instead of ping based.
There was literally a patch for region based matchmaking. I'm in Europe and constantly coming up against people in Asia and the Middle East. Its an easy setting to change
The fact that this are all "nit picking" qol that for example me with 700 hours and patience and simply not caring much I didn't even notice is really good Especially since they can only improve in the future
@@MTMXBL That was the same situation I was in before. Gave up for several days until I decided to take the time to find out. Still can't tell you how to do it right now from memory though. It's similar to changing BGM I believe.
Badly designed and programmed anything also drive me insane. For SF6, I guess I’m used to it now, but for my work? I will forever be the guy who rants about it forever and ever (though yes that’s an entirely different case lol).
It feels like the vast majority of game for the past 4-6 years all have hostile UI design. It's the same shit in Tekken 8. Try looking for a replay or joining a player lobby that your friend is hosting and it's like being locked in a fucking escape room. You didn't even mention the part where those stupid fucking popups appear when you're trying to do something like combo trials and they block all of the inputs on the screen so you literally have to sit there and wait for them to stop going.
Dude, the "Exit to Desktop" option not being on the Fighting Grounds menu kills me. Like, why?? Why remove that option from the menu? You get salty after a loss and you end up pressing circle one too many times and it takes you all the way back to the title screen, where you have to press a button to have it reconnect to the server and load back to the main menu.... why???
Anyone else remember xbox 360 SF4, chat, messaging without having to hack into the dark web, what about going in training mode, simply recording something, then play it back. Training mode since SFV is about as intuitive as microsoft Excel.
I remember when I first got the game, I had to watch your video on how to change the language. Capcom was on Crackcom when designing this menu. I'm solving a rubix cube trying to find everything LMAO
You can turn it off. If you don't turn it off, the menu usually locks when you're queuing and locks the game entirely when a match is found. I get it, it's really annoying. 😅😅

This whole cannibalization and contradiction thing is true not only for the UI but also other parts of the game. This is why the single player content in SF6 is bad, ESPCIALLY World Tour, which is full of stuff that cannibalize and contradict each other. From the mechanics in WT, to the story, to the exploration, everything. This is what happens when you make a game with TOO MANY features. SF6 sucks.

I seriously tried to resist the temptation of just sitting there in training mode and not actually try stuff but I always end up trying things and getting pissed off because of the menu lock 😅
Honestly you call bad efficiency or something else bad for what you personally like when you were on the ranked stuff.
as someone who just started playing SF6, I agree with Jimmy, the menu system is stupid. They must've hired the guy who designed the Xbox menu.
The exit option hideen in that specific layer is what irks me the most. Oh, and the block options, also super hidden.
Capcom should let you watch the replay of the ranked match/set after it's over
These problems are magnified 10 fold after having a bad match or session.
I didn't expect to see Rocky Balboa ranting about SF 6 😆.
Actually , if you set a function button short cut for online match making in training mode, you can instantly pause the rank search , then play with your menu. Then you’ll bypass the menu button freeze when searching for match.
need a patch where you can put guioles theme on when at 5 percent health left
AND I have to SAVE A REPLAY then go back to my replay list to play it. Instead of the option to just play it RIGHT THERE 😆
i only recently realised that they added a shortcut to enter training mode from the main menu, which ironically makes it quicker to exit out of fighting grounds and use the shortcut than to go into training from the fighting grounds menu. Just be glad you don't use battle hub jimmy, you'd probably have had an aneurysm by now.
Jimmy was not happy. Jimmy was having a bad day
To this day, I still have no idea how to change the "Move Name Display" language. It's always greyed out so it's like it's there for no reason. (Edit: just found it's only available when the language is set to Chinese, very weird restriction)
Also, World Tour's training mode is so bare-bones that there's not even an option to change health so that means it's nearly impossible to test certain perks and CA's
UI matchup is unwinnable
I can sense that the menu configuration in SF6 was deliberately designed to trigger users like jimmy as a form of Satsui no Hado since they were never going to main Akuma.
It is mindblowing how trash training is when searching for matches
I play on series x, if I press menu button first, I can access training mode options. Not sure if this is a glitch or just limited to console.
Try pressing menu button first, the search prompt says paused, press it again, kinda curious if this works for pc as well.
100% agree the ui is so disjointed and messily put together its a little embarrassing
What about the tournament option? Never has a tournament available! How do i jump into a tournament?
It's funny how the balance and systems in sf6 are OK. But the UI is really terrible...
Street Fighter 6: now you fight the menus
dude for real and they're charging all these DLC prices yet they don't wanna invest any time making the menus more intuitive. actually absurd.
Love this game but the menus are overall split terribly and interact with each other terribly, and don't get me started on region based matchmaking instead of ping based.
There was literally a patch for region based matchmaking. I'm in Europe and constantly coming up against people in Asia and the Middle East. Its an easy setting to change
The fact that this are all "nit picking" qol that for example me with 700 hours and patience and simply not caring much I didn't even notice is really good
Especially since they can only improve in the future
Its a fighting game bro, the menu is an opponent too. Lol
I... I didnt know that you can change the music in the menu for your fight...
Training mode Ranked/Casual is cool but your right it really isn't as good as it could be
Jimmy "CLEARY he's not looking to fight"
Clearly Jimmy looking to fight capcom lol
Changing your character banners and titles is annoying and unintuitive too.
Thankfully I never change those... I probably started dodging interactions with the UI unconsciously 😅
honestly, i found this once, but i have no idea how to get back to it. i've given up now
@@MTMXBL
That was the same situation I was in before. Gave up for several days until I decided to take the time to find out.
Still can't tell you how to do it right now from memory though. It's similar to changing BGM I believe.
I thought I was the only one that thought this UI is confusing AF.
Totally agree. The UI is the worst part of the game. It's been months and I still forget how to find shit I've been to a ton of times.
Jimmy's fight against UI continues! ( as a final fuck you ) had me😂😂
Badly designed and programmed anything also drive me insane. For SF6, I guess I’m used to it now, but for my work? I will forever be the guy who rants about it forever and ever (though yes that’s an entirely different case lol).
The training mode menu problem during ranked queue is so true, Capcom fix ur shit ffs
I thought it was just me!! Im so glad im not alone
You want some cheese with all this whining? I thought this was gonna be a quality rant
Whining*
On Playstation you just press the ps button and you get control again cause it pauses the match que
Dude, the "Exit to Desktop" option not being on the Fighting Grounds menu kills me. Like, why?? Why remove that option from the menu?
You get salty after a loss and you end up pressing circle one too many times and it takes you all the way back to the title screen, where you have to press a button to have it reconnect to the server and load back to the main menu.... why???
Everytime I want to change my title in SF6 I have to search how to do it 😅
Anyone else remember xbox 360 SF4, chat, messaging without having to hack into the dark web, what about going in training mode, simply recording something, then play it back. Training mode since SFV is about as intuitive as microsoft Excel.
Bro I literally launch this game, press one button and I'm in training mode, wtf are you talking about?
When I first got the game, I had to look up how to queue up for ranked. I initially thought you had to go to battlegrounds first.
I remember when I first got the game, I had to watch your video on how to change the language. Capcom was on Crackcom when designing this menu. I'm solving a rubix cube trying to find everything LMAO
Bro are you stupid 😂
You can turn it off. If you don't turn it off, the menu usually locks when you're queuing and locks the game entirely when a match is found. I get it, it's really annoying. 😅😅
Simple fix... press ps button and it'll cancel the searching queue
There is no PS button on PC...
Dont ever play fighter Z Jimbo, if sf6 UI pisses you off, then UI Goku will really make you mad.
100% this needs to be fixed in a future QoL
Capcom is just insane when it comes to UI. Monster Hunter is WORSE than this! Every menu sucks. Every. Single. One.
I have no idea what they are thinking and why they do this shit, I had to look up a guide on how to invert my Y axis on the controller for monster hunter rise. I'm not kidding.
Bro this guy is hilarious he said the dude got fired and implemented a messed up UI version😂😂
SF6 sucks.
let's hear the long rant jimmy 👍👍
Anger Jimmy I love it 😂
I really don’t think these are huge problems, more like inconveniences. Not to diminish anything you said because some of them can be annoying, but guess I just wasn’t losing my shit over it though.
Played for over 1200 hours and at some point you will start losing your mind when the start button stops working while you're in training mode. It's a minor problem but when it pops up 20 times per day at some point you'll just snap.
i didn't know it went this deep for a lot of people
Wait is that why that happens!?
The more I play, the more I dislike the game. There are so many bugs in the game.
They put the intern to create this UI. 😂
