    I can't thank you enough for the amount I have learned from your two videos taking apart slick magnetos!! As an owner who does my preventive maintenance (as far as the FAA will allow) it's always great watching these vids so I can speak more intelligently to my maintenance shop about the work they do on my aircraft. Totally appreciate your style Bill!!

    A good half an hour spent watching this vid, Thanks! I work at a 30 fleet flight school and have been doing 500hr insp.s frequently. The quality of slicks is sub par but they do work. Some things to watch for are the loose rivets on impulse, even the new mags 2022 and newer still have this problem ( they have not fixed this problem and continue to put crap impulse couplings on these mags!! $683.00!) The first 500 hr is the most crucial as the ones I have taken apart are dry as a bone and haven't been lubed per the manual. Kelly Aerospace was a good alternative on parts but Hartzell bought them and jacked the prices big time. Keep em flying :)

      Yeah, Hartzell/Kelly have really jacked their prices...🤨 Thanks for watching!

    A very well produced and informative video about a technology that has had its day, I have never looked back following fitting the Electroair electronic ignition system.

      As long as you keep the spinny things spinning they work great. Thanks for watching!

    Slick mags tends to get a bad rap, however I have over 4000 hours behind them and many 500hr inspections on our fleet of 3 aircraft with 6310's. They have been reliable and serviceable. In recent years the parts from Kelly, although less expensive, have been of lower quality. Perhaps Hartzell will fix this, however I hear they are raising prices as well. When I started a complete mag was $600, now just to replace the distributor block is $300.

    Great video Bill! My slick 6367's have put me through the wringer with popping coils. I think it was all heat related. I can't wait for a better option.

    When my mags reach 500 hr I will go with modern tech and get Electro air. No 500 inspection, hotter spark, variable timing, better fuel economy, and less carbon in the combustion chamber. Looking at the old 70 year tech of the legacy mags is interesting but painful.

    • @HangaRatz
      @HangaRatz  27 дней назад

      Believe it or not if most folks would inspect at 500 hour or 10 years they would be trouble free. Most of the "dead" mags that come in are terribly neglected. Thanks for watching!
