    So we're gonna keep an eye on these 2 locs to see how they differ from the rest of the locs as they mature.

    Thank you for this video. Very easy to understand. I got my locs done back in February by a certified person and they are just not professional, which has made the experience unpleasant. Im not interested in going back to get retighten, so my lovely husband has decided to take it upon himself to learn how to do it. Wish us luck!

      angie royster - how did it go? :)

    • @angieroyster7372
      @angieroyster7372 4 года назад +5

      Space Case - It’s getting better. We had to merge some of the locs together because with my hair type they just weren’t locking. Which is a bit annoying because it took two inexperienced people to come up with that but not the certified person to say “hey we will have to go bigger for them to actually lock up”. He’s done an amazing job at retightening them. My only setback personally, is that I’m dealing with a lot of frizz. Other than that they are finally starting to loc at the root.

      E - Yes they were.

    • @angieroyster7372
      @angieroyster7372 4 года назад +2

      E - Thank you for the tips! I’ve been waiting to wash my hair every 3-4 weeks, but if I can do it every 2 then that would be awesome. It’s so flakey and dry by that 3rd week already. When should I take out my braids after I wash them? Like should I wait 10 mins after I get out of the shower or an hour? I usually just let it air dry, doesn’t take long.

    • @angieroyster7372
      @angieroyster7372 4 года назад +2

      E - You are a life saver!! I usually only use the bottle of sister loc shampoo and dandruff shampoo. I also have their dry/itch spray I use from time to time. My hair is honestly super weird, before getting loc’d I had shrinkage like no tomorrow. Now that I have my hair loc’d I don’t have any issues with shrinkage, but I’ve always had issues with breakage. With this new information I should be on the road to “less” frizz. I don’t mind it a ton, not asking to have them “slick” like they would if they were palm rolled but just a bit better where it doesn’t look like I was rolling around all day. I really appreciate your assistance/help with this. Wish the person who did it gave me this advice.

    I love that my locs have their own personalities as well. They just be doing whatever but I love it. They feel like ME. My loose natural hair felt more like a bad ass kid than some hair strands 🤣. I also wanted to stop trying to "tame" my hair and let it do what it wants naturally... just without looking a mess. My locs being all frizzy, curly and poofy doesnt feel unruly to me though, it just feels authentic. Maybe it's just me. I really love my hair and I've been natural for yearsssss. It feels so good to accept my hair and not feel frustrated every single time I take my bonnet off. I'm not even finish installing (DIYing myself so ofc it's taking so much time) but I'm happy even as it changes by the week

    I wonder if it's worth it to just start your locs with the interlocking method so you don't get issues like these... I'm starting locs soon and this definitely helped, thank you!

    • @SuperKiona123
      @SuperKiona123 4 года назад +8

      Interlock method is much more time consuming and can cause issues *if* you dont know what you're doing. BUT, it was worth it for me. I've had exactly ONE small baby loc near my edges slip (it's been 2 months almost 3 with my locs though, not super long time has passed but I wash weekly due to buildup) which is nothing but my hair texture is coarser so it does make it less likely to slip. The rotations are slow going *at first* but as you get better, it's much easier. Mistakes will most likely be made if you decide to interlock for starter locs but dont sweat it, you're only human. I twist my hair 4 times then slide the twist to almost the end, leaving enough room to grip my hair (if you watch interlock videos you'll see what I mean). After the small knot the twist will make at the end to stop your interlock from unraveling, I braid that hair at the very ends so it definitely will not come out lol. I'm not playing any games. Try a few test locs first to see what size is good for you, locs swell up and get poofy even with finer hair textures so while they may look skinny in the beginning, they will not stay that way. Take that into account. I hope I provided some info you may not have heard already. These are all things I honestly wish someone had told me, even after the extensive research I did before interlocking my hair. What you dont pay for with your money (if you were to choose a loctition) you will certainly pay for with time and energy, just choose a method that works for you boo. Whatever you choose to do, best of luck on your hair journey 💜

    • @schrijfeenboek
      @schrijfeenboek 4 года назад +3

      Some people that start with mini- twists, braid the ends, so it will not unravel easily. The results will be the same whether you start with interlocking, minicoils, minitwists, or minibraids.

When you started your microlocs with the two-strand twist method, did you use any product? How do you retain moisture in your locs? TIA

    I have sisterlocs and my consultant tells me, no moisturizing because that can create buildup and little to no manipulation. I wanted to try something new by getting sisterlocs but I’m having doubts because I’m so restricted to doing anything
    Your hair is so full and alive but mine is flat, dry, and looks so dead

    • @clsmith614
      @clsmith614 4 года назад

      So since your consultant says no moisturizing, how do you keep your hair from drying out and causing breakage? I want sisterlocs but seeing KendraKenshay hair, which I simply adore, I did not know that there was another option called microlocs. So now I need to do a bit of research to see what the difference in the two are and what to do about hair moisture. TIA

      Carla Smith There’s this I guess rule that from the time you install the locs until 6 months is when you cannot put oils or moisture. I personally spritz my hair with water every once in a while per week so my hair can look a little alive. I’ve just started checking out some RUclipsrs who can hopefully help
