It was like the 1st of July. And one of the interviewers said, Well, what do you want from the fans for your birthday? And I thought -- I don't know where it came from -- there's a thought bubble up and it said: at noon, if they could go, 'Peace and love.' And look what's turned into! It's great."

CELEBRATING HIS 82ND BIRTHDAY, RINGO STARR WISHES BORIS JOHNSON 'PEACE AND LOVE'
At his 82nd birthday celebration Thursday (7 JULY), Ringo Starr wished resigning British Prime Minister Boris Johnson "peace and love."
"Oh, God bless Boris. Peace and love, Boris. I'm sure you'll find another job," the former Beatle said when asked about Johnson's announcement that he'd step down as leader of the Conservative party.
Starr was joined by celebrity guests, bandmates and friends at a park in Beverly Hills, California, where he reflected on aging, joking that 80-year-old Paul McCartney was "a baby."
Starr said he stays healthy by working out and eating plenty of broccoli. He counted down to exactly noon Pacific to lead the crowd in a shout of his signature phrase "Peace and love."
The crowd sang "Happy Birthday" to Starr and he led a singalong of his song "Let's Change the World."
