Used my new Macro Air today for the first time. I love it!!! With the direction of the wind I needed to launch from the other side of our peninsula, and I was able to ride my bike there with the Macro Air backpack and the rest of my gear in a baby trailer behind my bike. The 110 liter board only took 45 strokes of the included pump to reach 15 psi, so that only added two minutes to my setup time. Board did great on the water. No issues getting up on foil.
Yeah I'm looking for a wing foil setup that can fit in my bike trailer. . . Not a car owner. The foil wing looks like the biggest hard component of the whole kit.
I learned on inflatable and still use it for travel and tricky locations where I need more volume. It is much lighter than hard board. I only pumped it to 8 PSI when learning to get up from my knees for less pain and foiling was still a dream. For air travel my kiteboard is well protected while wrapped by inflatable wingboard.
My condolences for your loss, guys. Great review! I had the Cab Air 4’7” and agree with all your points on the transportability, no dings, soft surface yet firm board, and it being something you can use forever. I have a Cab Code 5’ and it feels lighter in weight than the 4’7” inflatable. I think the rubber, plastic, and reenforcing structure adds up to making it kind of heavy. You mentioned that the board is “sticky” and I agree with that-giving it some pump action helps break the water tension. I had issues with minor touchdowns sucking the board back into the water and I think it’s because of the flat curved bottom. I’m sure that the effect is even more noticeable on the shorter board. Having said that, I think the size you demo’d is ideal for beginners and any rider who wants all the pluses you mentioned. 🙌🔥
I have an inflatable and I like it so far. I'm still a kook but I'm sure I'll use it for at least a year. Also, it's good to have around for teaching others after I "out grow" it. Thanks for the positive vibes and reminders to appreciate the important people in our lives. Gonna call my Mom tomorrow!
Thanks for the review. After much internal deliberation I ordered the 110 liter. (I'm 6'3" and 190 pounds.) This is my second board and my first inflatable. I can't wait for it to arrive and then to try it on the water.
Wow what a beautiful start to my day! Your positive message is far more important than imaginable and I hope it gets to many young people. Thank you so much ❤. As for the review, I already have an inflatable having bought the wrong hard board at the beginning. Still a beginner I was refreshed with your review. I’ve come to Barbados for 4 weeks to finally nail the basics. My only challenge is there is no handle on the underside so getting through ( and back) the shore break is tricky. Can you do a video on this? Keep up the good work. You may have heard that Melanie died last month. Check out her song Beautiful People’.
I have a 140L inflatable, not Cabrinha. Its good, I'm sure I would have destroyed a glass board by now and I do leave it inflated mostly. Just make sure to deflate them in transport or around glass I have heard of them overheating in the sun.
Damien, thanks for the review. Looking at North and Fanatic Inflatable vs. Cab (I like the Cabrinha because the rail box is integrated, does not stick out on the bottom - North and Fanatic stick out). The question I have is on the bag for travel, does the bag allow any room for wing and foils for travel (the way the North and Fanatic do)?
Does the displacement translate directly from a hardboard to an inflatable? I read on some site to add 25-40L for an inflatable. We love your videos and enthusiasm.
Not sure I understand the question? If you are looking to go performance, your better off with a hardboard. I feel you have more stability in an inflatable for sure in the larger sizes and great for someone looking into the sport for simplicity and user friendliness. Not sure about an additional 25-40L. Usually someone new can learn on a 140L inflatable but if you are over 210 pounds a little more volume will not hurt on the stability and ease of learning.
@@DamienLeroyRUclips Thanks for your quick reply. Maybe a more specific example will help. I am 165#. I am a capable windsurfer and have tried foiling a few times. Still not flying but that should be soon if I get my own gear and get out there. What range of hard board would you recommend? Does the size change if we go with an inflatable? I don't see why it would be some gear website suggested to add 25-40L if going with an inflatable.
@@HarryLevinson Harry from what I read at 165 lbs a good size to start with would be a 5' 4" x 27" x 4.7" x 98L. Something like wingfoilprocenter.com/products/code-wing-board?variant=45088422035760 . You for sure can go a little more volume for ease but 98L should float you for sure. As for Inflatable would be the same I don't think you need to go more in Volume just for inflatable. My thoughts....
Hey Damien thanks. Two questions: How would you compare this to Starboard's inflatable? Second, what size foil would you recommend for the inflatable vs the same size fiberglass or carbon board? I'm considering either the 4'7 or 5/3 (ive been using the latter in fiberglass boards but considering going smaller). Thanks
Friend, I have not used the Starboard so I can not comment there. As for foils it always comes down to ability and skill of the person. I would tend to go a little more slow speed lift (larger foil) or a higher lift on the inflatable boards as there is always a little more drag than a fiberglass or Carbon board. I hope that helps.
Thanks for the feedback. Doing a few travels with a pizza box too. Gwen is an outstanding rider! Makes it look super easy…fast too. unusual floppy handle sticky” for touchdowns perhaps
@@DamienLeroyRUclips thank you! I heard that you do have to deflate to get out the foam block thou to then access taking on or off the mast. Wonder how much that would be factor in real life. I hope that they make a lower Ltr. Promo videos shows a much smaller board than what they are currently selling to the public. I hope that the set up is also with not to far back/forward as that would perhaps require pitch adjustment spacing or maybe feel better either a different aspect foil. I remember hearing this somewhere but I don’t remember where I read/watched the video. Thanks again for the great content
@@koejoe I have not heard that, but we where able to pump it up, inflate and take the mast off as well. Not sure lots of progression here in the future I think! Thank you!
My F-one inflatable was so much better after I designed and fitted 3D printed TPU rail strips. Less sticky on touchdowns and a lower speed to start planing. It surprises me that manufacturers can still design new inflatable boards without rails. Surely it's common knowlege among the pros now?
Привет из России. Посмотрел Ваш обзор и заказал Cabrinha macro air 5'3" 110 l. Мой вес 80 килограмм (176 фунтов). Может надо было брать 5'9" 140 l? Что скажете?

does it differ from any other similar board? E.g. Gong HIPE?

I am not sure its designed like that but I feel I could fit a wing or two in it no problem. 100%

What’s your opinion on using this inflatable for possible open sea downwinder wingfoil runs?
It will work but it will be a little stickier on the touch downs! I would say it will work but a carbon/fiberglass board will perform much better.

We agree 100% shaper rails will make all inflatables much better with a clean release from the water and less drag!
