This is 100% how it works, I thankfully only had 3 total losses so far but this is how the process works when Turo pays out the ACV to you. The people telling you this isn't how it works, probably aren't Turo Hosts (or they didn't follow the Turo TOS and weren't paid out due to their violation of Turo's policies)
been debating on trying turo for years. im a car dealer so i basically get the cars at auction price. but only thing is knowing people never take care of other peoples property with care. ive gotten cars totalled before sale and the insurance always has paid me out more than what i bought it for
A problem I ran into when figuring the depreciation bottom especially on newer more expensive cars were DEALERS advertising the vehicle for cheap with hidden fees. I expected a standard $599 doc fee but found upwards of $4,800 in add-ons to that cheap price especially in the Florida market.
Thank you for another really great video! This is something I’ve been wanting to look into and learn about to make sure I’m getting the best deal possible.
Aubrey I can't stress enough how high quality this content is but I'm left asking how do I correctly write this "loss" off annually to avoid losing if I bought above market value? I know this is likely one for the tax expert and one you've touched on in the past to an extent but it is one that keeps bugging me
I wonder what her financials would look like if her husband didn't do the maintenance. Also, the curve resets. If a car goes from $4k to $3k, the depreciation may be $1,000... But that's the same as going from $35k to $26,500.
What are thoughts on BMW's? I'm seeing alot of 4 and 5 series 2012-2014 between $12k-$15k. Seems like they depreciate alot but are still very nice as a luxury vehicles. I know maintenence is more expensive and reliability is iffy. Are these worth it at those prices?
Just get gap insurance if you want a new car ......if there is a will there is a way. This method works and is safe, but its not the only way to keep yourself from losing money.
Do you ever buy cars with a loan? I want to get into Turo with a foundation series cybertruck that I can buy for $100k. However i don't have 100k and I don't know how to know if I'll get approved for a $95k loan or not. My credit score is 760+, but i don't know if my annual income is high enough to get approved. Should I tell them that I plan to use the truck for a rental business to make money to pay off the loan?
Whatever you do, do not mention that it is for a rental business.. Banks hate that.. Increase your income or you know state a higher income.. I want a Cybertruck too but I will wait out for some time to get a regular truck.. I have a reservation which is in the 700k's but I assume a lot of people will not go through with their reservations so I might be able to get it sooner though before 2025 does not seem plausible..
@@revaddict Thanks for the warning. I'm seeing a lot of people on Reddit now saying not to mention Turo. I'm trying to get the truck ASAP to rent it while the market isn't crowded. I'm pretty sure they usually want to verify your income so I probably can't overstate it, right? Maybe someone else could sign the loan with me like my parents so that we could combine our income to get approved?
@@JackOLanternBob You can state your income as Uber, the only way to verify that is through your tax returns. Most likely will not be asked for that.. And you definitely will need a Cosigner..
Hope you did not buy that Cybertruck. You would be extremely upside down in that car right now. Tesla already slashed the prices for brand new ones for in the 70 thousand price range
On the used car you buy. What's the mileage you usually look for. Hyunday you buy them under 100k miles for warranty and sell them once they are out of warranty?
One question: Doesn't Turo have a MAX of 130k mileage before listing it?? But if you pass the 130k miles during your rentals, then you can keep it on??
One can’t list a car over 12 year old. I am genuinely curious why you will say your 2011 Mazda can listed for 3-5 yrs. I like your content, don’t want to assume anything, hope to see your reply.
I would like to start, only thing I’m hung up on is where to keep the vehicle for the remote pickups. Running a business out of my driveway seems unsound. Any suggestions? What have you done in the past to now?
This is high quality value information that applies not only to Turo but buying used car in general. This is phenomenal content. Thank you!

Great deep dive! Thank you.

Skip those years, ideally look for 2016-2016.. Huge improvement in reliability..
As someone that owns BMWs. My f10 5 series ran me $12,000 in the past 15 months. Do not, BUY ONE FOR TURO.

If my car gets totaled on turo, does my gap insurance kick in to cover the rest of the money?

Please do NOT do this. Start with a cash car or a vehicle you already own. Do NOT dive in with a $100,000 vehicle.

Thinking about to use my 2017 Toyota Avalon hybrid in Turo. From your experience how many days in year it might sit in parking lot?

Yes
I dont even use turo and I know you cant list a car over 12 years old on it.. wtf lol why would you search to 2008?
Probably just examples of her fleet
Is there a site where u can see the depreciation of a particular car ???!
What’s your thoughts on a Mitsubishi mirage 2021?
Like the Tesla Model 3

If you put the car up before the 12 year mark, even just a month before the 12 year mark, it can stay on Turo for however long after that
I love you.
I need a woman like you in my life ❤

Pick your own drop-off and pick up location
Great video!
You’re wearing the winter cap again😂😂
My only question. What is up with the beanie Hun? 😂😂😂
Is the 3 to 5 percent turo overpays the tax and license?
Does Turrex still exist?
The best way to make money on Turo is to peddle stupid course about making money on Turo 😂
