One of my favorite RUclips adventure video series. I love being able to watch it in its entirety. I really appreciate the time and effort it took to put together the original segments and now this final cut. Great job Donald.
Donald, your reactions as you entered the ranch area brought a smile to my face as I remember making some of the same noises you did upon first seeing that area 😆. I also commented in my video how this had to be the most spectacular place in Oregon that I'd ever seen and I stand by that. Thanks for bringing back such good memories. I'll have to get back down there someday.
Beautiful scenery! I rafted the Owyhee River May of 1980. When we got to our vehicles after the trip the sky was dark and ash was falling. Mt St. Helen’s erupted on our last day on the river.
That little desert oasis that you guys stopped at is a choice spot. We were there September a year later and unfortunately the spring had dried up but you could tell there was still water underground as the cattle tended to congregate in the bottom of the empty pond and stir up a bit of mud. We hope to get by there another time when it looks more like it does in your video than in mine 😒
Great video, Donald, really stunning shots and love the narration. Maybe next time we run into each other in Oregon, it will be in a neat place like this (hint, hint.)
As always Donald, thank you for the fantastic film making. The beautiful footage and great editing make for a very inviting and welcoming atmosphere. The foggy morning at the edge of the canyon, the lava flow (who knew), the Birch Creek Ranch area with the old buildings and the river, just fantastic to experience with you and Jason.
One of my goals for next year is to recreate this trip. I haven't been able to locate the first or last night's camping locations, but I know where the middle four nights, from Rome onward to the Jasper mine, were and they were the best ones of the trip.
Regarding the mud on the playa, another youtuber was filming somewhere else and the surface appeared dry. But as he was driving fairly quickly, went several car lengths into a soft spot before coming to a stop and then had to wait hours to get pulled out.
Awsome trip! Had to comment about something an old timer told me years ago. Don't wrap thumbs around the steering wheel, could hurt if you hit something or something hits you.
Yep, at the time I was under the impression there was nothing but a landing at the bottom and it felt pointless to keep burning gas without knowing how much worse the road might get. On a separate visit the following year, Jason actually hiked up from below and found the cabin. I love this area so much, I will certainly return one day...third time's a charm! :-)
Oh my God the both of you guys so maybe next time that you decide to go on these trips you have your vehicles set up better all the videoing and the music and everything is great it just seems as though you guys need a little extra vehicle performance before you go on trips like this thank you for the great video though
This trip resulted in one of my most-loved collections of outtakes ever:

Enjoyed every minute of this. But those deep cracks in the road you were driving next to!!! Wow!!! Thanks again!!
Stunning. Fantastic. Loved having all the pieces in one epic video. Thank you. This is a treasure, for sure! 😎
What an awesome trip. I think I'm 75% through your videos now. Just been binging every day while working. Amazing content.

All I can say is WOW!
I would absolutely love watching a Mercedes Revel go through that rock garden . .
This was so good! ❤
Nothing quite like Owyhee mud!!!
Outstanding!
Great content as always!

Hi Brother! Debbie and I have binge watched your awesome videos all afternoon. I hope I get to buy you a #6 sometime this week!
Thanks for (binge) watching! :-)
Cool traveling
You missed the moose! At 45:53. Standing behind Jason on the door of Sasquatch his van!

What is the piece of music starting at 47:18?

You missed the biggest of the three cabins at the jasper mine by not following the road down the switchbacks.

Why is this road even here? Because we can. 😊
