- The Swift Show Wagon starring Horace Heidt and his Musical Knights toured the United States in 1955 saluting a state each week with guest stars from the state and discovering talent throughout the country. This show starring Lionel Hampton, Buddy DeFranco, Keith Thibodeaux, and the Heidt Steppers saluted the great state of New Jersey. From 1932 to 1953, he was one of the more popular radio bandleaders, heard on both NBC and CBS in a variety of different formats over the years. Buddy DeFranco began his professional career just as swing music and big bands-many of which were led by clarinetists like Artie Shaw, and Benny Goodman-were in decline. While most jazz clarinet players did not adapt to this change, DeFranco successfully continued to play clarinet exclusively, and was one of the few bebop clarinetists.
Very rare and amazing!
