    How to inject [28:20] compost extract into the soil?
    All RUclips videos I've found was about spraying compost extract on top of the soil.

      In-furrow injection when you drill seed, air disc drill seeder works quite nicely if its within your budget. You can also use a spike aerator to poke holes in the soil and rig a trailed boom to drip the extract into the holes. The microbes don't seem to do well exposed to UV for long, so best applied into the soil but if budget is tight there are workarounds, if you have irrigation get a good soak in after a foliar application to let it wash deeper into your soil. Don't forget to treat your seed with the compost extract prior to planting.

    Can we expect similar results in clay soils or other less poor soils as you have had success with sandy soils?

    • @DavidfromMichigan
      @DavidfromMichigan Год назад +1

      I would believe so. I imagine the speed would depend on how much you amend the soil.

    • @flatsville9343
      @flatsville9343 Год назад +1

      Sandy soils have little to no CEC so any addition of humus & soil life will improve it. Sandy Soils are slso hard to covercrop. Additions of Johnson Su end product might be the best way to add humus (& soil organisms) over time.

    Why go backwards and put your money into equipment and when you can regenerate the land that was mined with chemicals to get row crops that just made the banks and tractor manufactorers rich and the farmers broke and killed off almost all the wildlife by monoculture? You need to use cattle and livestock to restore the land and after 20 years or so the soils and diversity of the soils will be restored if done correctly. All without chemicals or large equipment. Regenative grazing and constantly moving the cattle without over grazing will allow year round production and lots of fat healthy cattle and sheep.This isn't an easy way to do it but proven to work for centuries if not thousands of years. Buffalo and other grazers did it naturally by constantly moving across the plains allowing the grass to recover before the next herds would move into that area. Think that we humans could't thrive on the meat from 60 million buffalo? Would 100 million cattle not be able to feed our whole population and still maintain the land and its other wildlife? Humans natural diet is meat and the native americans were proof that meat is the only thing we really need to thrive and be healthy. Soil health is important but just think about this fact:88% of adults are metabolically unhealthy eating the modern standard american diet (sad). The FDA,AMA and a lot of other 3 letter agencies are making billions of $'s to poison and shorten our lives with the poisons and toxins that they push in the form of food and drugs. The food guidelines are designed to make us fat and cause all kinds of problems that require drugs to keep us alive. Nice to be concerned for the soil but if the soils is healthy and we aren't,what is the gain?

      i think that farmers everywhere will adapt to their own situations. worldwide there are differing challenges that require different solutions! I want to just comment on your comment about the "native american diet" as well, because its much more complex than that. first of all, many (i speak from turtle island/north america) indigenous cultures would have seasonal diets, where meat was better to consume in the winter when produce was scarce and when the harvest would wither and the animals were fatter and meatier. I read a book from Tyson Yunkaporta from so called australia as well and he talks about this even in a less seasonally diverse place such as there. humans coevolved with plants and our ability to eat plants is largely due to this co-evolution. when many other species do not partake in eating bitter greens but we are healthier when we eat sweet fat and bitter. (lots of this info from a book by guido mase called the wild medicine solution) Im just here to share what ive learned! diversity in solutions and eternal learning xo

      Well said. Small ruminants, like sheep and goats are great on smaller properties, especially goats on weedy / woody plots; sheep on some weeds and more grasses. Sheep and goats also have quicker regeneration of the species. Breed at 7 month and bear young at 12 months. Cattle breed at 13-15 months and bear young at 22-24 months.

    Hey there soil food web people!
    If you don't mind, could you share your opinion on this version of compost tea? Everything Ive read and learned from all your information and webinars and old lectures from Dr. Ingham says that this video is basically a how NOT to make compost tea. But it comes from what seems like a genuine place of trying to improve local eco systems, so I'm hoping this isn't the case.
    Happy Monday!
