If they can't make ceramic Pepsi bezels they need to go back to aluminum. I prefer aluminum anyway. And they can thin out the hideously thick lugs too.
i spend time backpacking and looking at gear. when i see someone on mount mckinley wearing the same gear i have in my pack it makes me retrospectively feel good about my purchase and the decisions i made leading up to doing so.
One major error that you have repeated here without doing your due diligence: Rolex did NOT invent the GMT watch: Glycine invented it a year before them, but the pretty boys at Pan Am wanted a Rolex version of that watch. Like Toyota, Rolex took somebody else's idea and made it better (in this case, terms of esthetics, not quality--albeit Toyota makes a reliable copy of German cars).
Like the steel Daytonas, I think Rolex will reduce the production numbers of the Pepsi massively, thus giving ADs another near unobtainable watch for buyers to try and obtain by spending more. Either that, or they discontinue and bring the Coke out in white gold. There are production issues with the ceramic Pepsi dial. Only black can perfectly cover the lighter color on the lower half of the bezel.
I don’t know if they’ll discontinue the Pepsi or not, but if they do, at least I’ll have a final answer to my waitlist (albeit, a disappointing answer…)
It won't be discontinued. Also, when you get one you'll love it. Easily the most favourite Rolex I own. Proportions, history, colouration. Hits on every level.
@@james6846 Because I much prefer the Sea Dweller over the Pepsi. The 43mm 50th Anniversary Sea Dweller is an incredible watch, and in my opinion, is underrated and undervalued at the present moment. It doesn't hurt that the profit from the sale of the Pepsi means I only have several thousand dollars invested in the Sea Dweller. It was a no brainer.
I purchased mine (on an oyster) last year. It's my favourite watch. It's uplifting to look at, has great proportions, and of course, a fabulous history.
It’s amazing that I have a seiko modded Pepsi with a ceramic bezel that looks great. I cannot believe Rolex cannot get it correct. That’s madness. It must be something else. It has to be.
Hello and thanks for this video. This watch is surrely one of the 10th most overhyped watches of all times (and overpriced on grey market also). Nothing interesting about it. All have been said and viewed before.
I owned one for 14 years (GMT I not II) and liked it. It was easy to read at a glance, and yes, I needed the GMT function. Mine was on the oyster bracelet. I don't think that the Pepsi bezel should be on the current bracelet.
The blurple/maroon colors are a joke. The aluminum bezel has much more vibrancy and pop, but the bracelet is 1950s technology - stamped clasp, mostly hollow links
@@meatthenole5601 Your comment is non-responsive. My question was whether you could review other Rolex models, not whether there were other videos available on the Internet. Five years from now, do you suspect you will still be carrying on so zealously about the Rolex Pepsi? It's a $20,000 stainless steel watch.
@@jamesmoninger1982 fair point. However, it’s only a $20k watch on the gray market. Which is bananas. Not worth it. But it’s a beautiful, historic watch.

T4YC. I can see how much you like it, and it must be good for you to share things with your Dad. I am quite large, and even i would struggle with the weight. If only Rolex made things in Titanium? Oh, they do, but there's only 3 so far.
Omega releases a new Speedy and breaks the internet. Theo and Harris: "This same old fucking Rolex that hasnt changed in forever."
The Speedy doesn’t appeal enough to trust fund kids like Christian
No one cares about Omega. It will be discounted in no time😂
Omega is ass
The Rolex GMT-Master II "Pepsi" is the most iconic GMT watch ever produced. Would love to see a video with the meteorite dial
Christian about to pop a vein at the end of the video 😂😂
😂😂😂 man that association with Clymer and Mayer got his blood pumping. Good thing this is shot chest up 👀🤣🤣
“Trust me, I didn’t pay attention to Ben Clymer and John Mayer when making this purchase.”
Oh yeah?
I enjoyed how you used Coke as an analogy for how crazy it is to not manufacturer a Pepsi bezel. Nice work there.
Give me the smaller vintage aluminium any day. I feel there's more charm and utility to it
“Rolex discontinuing the Pepsi is like Coke discontinuing coke.” 🤣
True. 😂 Guessing whom ever made that decision is no longer with Rolex. They may even be buried in a desert somewhere. 😮
We need more of these videos !

Good info. Great connection to have the same watch as your dad. Mike, Michael?, behind the camera?
Like these videos you do that discuss some of the history of the brands/models ⌚️❤️💙
The lighting is good...
What I have found with generic ceremic Pepsi inserts is that the red portion is never solid. The top side is coated in red ceramic or something.
Pepsi GMT is my favorite Rolex .... with the holy grail version being the Meteorite dial version .. I've yet to see one in person tho

Love the story of this icon. Thanks!
I love the bright red and blue. That watch is sharp
Nobody apart from Rolex themselves really care if the color is off by a little bit
Great Graham Stephan impression
Master original, not 2, what’s your take on, ? Mines a 1966
Would you ever replace the black dial with the blue?
Prefer the Rootbeer thanks.

Maybe they allocated those bezels to the white gold GMT.

Raymond Reddington's watch!
Loved the deep dive into the Rolex GMT "Pepsi"! 👌🕰️
Hated? It's the most sought after watch in the world, aside from a daytona. People would kill for a ceramic pepsi

I think he meant hated in the past, sorta like Daytona.
If Steinhart can make the same colour bezel, why can’t Rolex? 😂
Cos their standards are "so high".. Probably high on the coke
But are all their dials perfect?
Steinhart bezels are made of two pieces and glued together. Rolex does them in one piece. Apparently more difficult to produce.

Where is Harris?
Can’t regularly produce the ceramic bezel? Revert to aluminum. Problem solved.
And it looks a damn site better. The color of the 16710 Pepsi with the aluminium shine is perfection.
