Awesome Hellgi...I really like your pattern and plan on tying some up for sure!!! When I use biots for legs I heat up my bodkin and lightly rest it against the biot and it makes the biot bend like a real leg, very useful tip I learned from an old salty...tye on and tight lines
Thank you for the great video. Won't the bend in the hook cause this fly to ride upside down? I figured that you were designing the fly to fish hook point up so that there would be fewer bottom snags. After all, a hellgrammite should be fished slowly crawling along the bottom. It's a beautiful fly which I will copy except that mine will have the wing case on the opposite side as yours which should make it face up. Thank you again for the video.
Why did you give your hook a bend? All the live hellgrammites I have seen were pretty much flat, hiding under rocks.Fish love them. Great tying job, good music too. Thanks.
Hi buddy, when they drift stoneflies or hellgrammites tend to curve themselves to get quickly to the botton and hide on the stones again, so when im fishing it in dead drifts i bend the hook a little bit. Kind regards!
Just reviewing a few videos I saved a few years back and came across this one. Great example of a realistic hellgrammite pattern. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome job. I love seeing a good artist make real looking cridders . Hope to see more videos like this. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Untied my 3rd belly using your technique. It was fun, but placement of the boys was pretty tough to learn. Gonna try again. Thanks for video!
