It’s so noticeable that Simon is happier and funnier when Gemma is around. Bless you both and I’m looking forward to all your wonderful work next year. All the best to you and yours.
Simon and Gemma, I’ve followed your journey since the first episode. If anyone has earned the title of Captain, it’s both of you, you have literally put your blood sweat and tears into every inch of Sarinda. Keep your heads up and remember when things get hard to hold onto each other that much more tightly. Much love from across the pond. A fan in Kentucky!
Leaving a gap between floor and hull is not just about ventilation! It is needed to allow dirt, dust and junk to fall into the bilge. This ensures future Gemma’s favourite pastime of Bilge cleaning. 😂
Ahhhhhhh yes, I got my Ship Happens fix for the day. Balance has returned to the universe! You're both due a long soak in a hot tub while sipping champagne for all your achievements in 2023. With Sarinda, you're not only rebuilding a ship, you're preserving history. All the best!
Wow, another great episode of your boat restoration journey! It's amazing how Sarinda is coming together. Simon, your humor and happiness definitely shine through when Gemma is around. Wishing you both the best for the upcoming year and all the wonderful work ahead. You're all amazing!
Just ordered "The 1944 Diaries" of Curly Capstick. Really looking forward to learning more about Sarinda, and very happy to support you both in your restoration efforts.
Simon, that was so loving and caring of you, to offer to make Gemma a peg leg! Edit: You'll have to invite friends over now, to watch the 80s fish finder. They'll all want one!
Simon is very skilled at measuring and fitting. The more I see you both work on Sarinda, the more I see how well suited you are to taking on such a large project.
My Boy like lightnin' with that jig saw! lol Gemma's more than help, she's what the old-timers used to call a "working supervisor". Lookin' over things, but not afraid to get dirty. Lol.
Belated Happy Birthday, Sarinda - - and Happy New Year to her new crew, Gemma and Simon. - - - Simon's face when he pulled that 12v wire, and found it was dangling in free space, just connected to a sticky tape label!
Geez Gem, go easy m8, 20:06 in sounds weird but deep heat that bruising, not a lot, just the bruise. Tomorr ow, you wont feel it. 🙏 Happy Birthday Sarinda! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Gem, Simon and family, P/O Robbo and the rest of the crew!
Thanks for the interesting and fun entertainment. You’re my favorite couple/team on RUclips. Well worth my time watching. Sorry for the injury. As a fellow boat restorer I feel your pain. We put money, blood, sweat and occasionally tears into these projects.
Gemma I can sympathise with you , I was unloading a 2400 x1200 sheet of marine ply off a truck , lost my grip and the edge of it slid down my leg peeling skin off from thigh to ankle , it felt like it was on fire for weeks , always get someone to help me after that , the pair of you are doing a fantastic job Have a safe and prosperous New Year. All the best from Tasmania
What a big amount of work you did this year, always a pleasure to look at your video. Wish you all the best for next year with great improvements in the boat. Cheers from France
Glad to see you guys seem to be keeping your enthusiasm for the project. I never thought in the beginning that y'all would see this through. Looks like I was wrong. Great work guys,, Happy New Year!
Oh my. I know that raking of that thick plywood on your knee must have smarted. I could see you were in pain. I hope it’s heals up soon. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎊🎈🎆
Simon or Gemma!! Here is an idea for ya, Get one or two pieces of the wood you took off the wall and clean them and strip off paint and glue them together for making a candy dish for the pilot house. However if you never torned a hunk of wood I recond taking it to a wood turner and just tell him to make it food safe, Also you need to put the dates of origanal contruction and date of reastoration.!! A fine momento to pass down to who ever gets it or just keep it for yourself
Dripping paint could be the least of your worries Simon, Soon you, the house, the van, all us viewers, even the estuary will all be painted battleship gray by Gemma. Hope that the bruise isn't too bad.
I was very concerned when I saw Gemma collapsed on the floor. I worry about possible injuries when you two are working on the boat. I did however like the spy thriller music at 26:10 adding a bit of drama to secret agent Simon's constructions.
Too funny, that the gage was not powered. Simon's expression, was priceless. Warning may be depth warning too close to pre-existing settings. E.G. less than 1 meter/ft to the bottom, where the sensivity limits may be -1/2 meter(foot). Should stop as the water below the boat rises. Starboard sole boards install progressing.
Have read the book with great interest. I know the area where the boat operated from very well as I was born and brought up in Gosport. When I was a child there was an old wooden craft Maybe a fast gun boat on blocks in Haslar creek outside HMS Hornet. The boat carried nameplates with Hornet on them. Not sure if this was to denote the name of the base or the boat. Frank talks of crossing the arched foot bridge to get to the Gosport/Portsmouth ferry. This was known locally as Pneumonia bridge as it was so high and the wind whipped through you as you crossed. There is now a road bridge connecting Haslar and Clayhall to the town centre where this once stood. The site of Vernon on the Portsmouth side is now GunWharfe Quays. A major shopping destination for those that do that sort of thing. and the site of the Millenium Tower. Sarinda as she is now was a very busy Lady during that time. You are restoring a precious piece of this countries history and doing a fine job. Well done for putting this book out there. I loved it. It makes the Anorak in me very happy to read this sort of thing. Best wishes. Heather
Ooooo that's gonna leave a mark. Ouch. Damit lass that were a corker. I was surprised when Gemma really dropped her kecks lol Younz are fekin Awesome lol yall make my day lol
So good to see you both back ,working so well together. Sorry to hear about Gemma ,hurting herself, I've done similar in the past ,very painful ,I hope you soon heal.
When Gemma hurt her leg you should have made her a brew...tea and sympathy can cure all pain...thanks for the update and have a great new year...can't wait for the next episode...👍👍
I thought about you pair as i drove home from ireland late at night last week....i looked accross at the liverpool lights in the dark from the a55 and wondered...."are they aboard"somewhere down there.,,,,,,,Good luck for the new year.
You guys crack me up when you go all UK accent talking about hoovering the bilges. My southern red neck ears always pick up on it because in the states we just break out the shop vac and vacuum. You guys hoover. There's something about that that I like and I don't know what it is.
You guys are incredible! Love watching your videos. I bought the book. I look forward to reading all about Sarinda's adventures from the viewpoint of the radar operator. I was a radar repair technician the US Navy for 20 years so I can relate somewhat.
Great work. This sole / floor will make the area solid & reliable for use. If it were me, while the weather outside is cold, wet or windy, I'd finish up that old fuel tank compartment. Get the bilge area cleaner, and potentially painted. Plus, the hull and bulkheads painted. Basically finish all the below deck work. Then you can use the port side for storage again without much concern until the deck has to be fixed.
Great video guys love seeing you work together and bonus bit was you dropping your pants on camera lol,,, question are you painting under the hull under the new floor stay safe see you on the next one. Michale notts
You have just discovered the basic principle of electric troubleshoting..."when a electrical device doesn't work it's either a bad contact or a broken wire"...congratulations for your work and Happy New Year...🥳🍾
A book worth getting a little bit of history behind every ship, should I say maritime history, well done both. She would look great for the 80th of DDay 2024.
If that 1980's fishfinder still works, you should leave it in place alongside whatever sexy modern Raymarine tech you chose to run along side it. The 80's CRT display is very cool...
Go and rest that leg Gemma looks nasty, am definitely putting that book on my Amazon gift list for my birthday in March, it will be another addition to my WW2 library. 👍
Happy Birthday Sarinda. Good work you's two. Gemma needed a medical officer, no doubt she will be logged down "under the weather" as injured in action.
Ordered a copy of the 1944 diaries arrived today just read it cover to cover a fascinating look at the day to day life of a royal navy sailor during WW2 and nice to have some background on the service life of Sarinda.
Great steadily progressing through Christmas, The Apelco sounder looks great I used to have a Kelvin Hughes, mine was old enough to have no screen just a roll of special sounder paper that you could buy which was scratched by a electric stylus that whizzed past it repeatedly and drew a picture of the seabed and fish as it rolled through the machine.
Merry Christmas and thanks for my gift of being able to watch all the sterling work you have done on that lovely old boat. Wishing you all a happy, healthy and prosperous New year.

Absolutely!
He copes (really well) on his own. He flies when Gemma is there.

i was 3 years old when she was floated, she has lasted a lot better than me, good luck to you both and keep up the good work.
You've lasted pretty well too Laurence, you're still breathing! 👍I'm 73 but don't feel a day over 72.
I turn 81 on December 30, we both are beginning our 81 trip around the sun!! I like to think i am in a little bit better shape!!

😊
The look on Simon's face when Gemma dropped her pants! 😂😂😂😂
Simon is very skilled at measuring and fitting. The more I see you both work on Sarinda, the more I see how well suited you are to taking on such a large project.
If you make a video of this years bloopers then testing that fish finder cable has to be on it, comedy gold😂😂
testament to a quality build, still working after all these years, the fishfinder.
My Boy like lightnin' with that jig saw! lol
Gemma's more than help, she's what the old-timers used to call a "working supervisor". Lookin' over things, but not afraid to get dirty. Lol.

I came here to comment on the music at that part! LOL Amazing how some suspenseful tunes can build the drama. :D

To both Simon and Gemma, your skill of wood working continues to amaze me.

Thx for the vid.

Merry Christmas and thanks for my gift of being able to watch all the sterling work you have done on that lovely old boat.
Wishing you all a happy, healthy and prosperous New year.
Ooh Mrs... Nice legs! Bruises often change colour before fading away. I hope the pain soon passes. Happy New year. ❤
I wish a Very Blessed Happy New Year to Simon and Gemma. 🙏❤
You might want to put some rigid foam insulation under the floorboards in case you ever want to insulate the hull. Your toes will thank you.
Amazon have just dropped the book at my door! So excited.
