Much appreciated. I myself find a beautiful simplicity to Ramana Maharshi's teaching known as "self-inquiry". When thoughts arise, the spiritual aspirant is asked: "To whom or to what do they arise?" One sees that the ego (mind) doesn't actually exist and thoughts do not appear during the inquiry. The analogy Ramana uses is the following: suppose that from a distance, during the night, you see something stirring in your room. If you don't look closely, you may be frightened, thinking that a thief has entered your home. But taking a closer look you see just the play of shadows. The ego (mind) is just like that.
A passage from Ramana's teachings is well worth pondering:
He who instructs an ardent seeker to do this or that is not a true master. The seeker is already afflicted by his activities and wants peace and rest. In other words he wants cessation of his activities. If a teacher tells him to do something in addition to, or in place of, his other activities, can that be of help to the seeker?
Activity is creation. Activity is the destruction of one's inherent happiness. If activity is advocated the advisor is not a master but a killer. In such circumstances either the creator (Brahma) or death (Yama) may be said to have come in the guise of a master. Such a person cannot liberate the aspirant, he can only strengthen his fetters.
A striking and surprising passage from Ramana....
Ramana mentions elsewhere that while a Guru is necessary, the Guru is within. The Guru is the Self. The only reason that someone would seek a Guru in the flesh is because he/she still identifies with the body and therefore sees the Guru as outside, with a body. But strictly speaking, the Guru is formless - and the Guru needn't even have a human form. It wears the forms of inanimate objects. You can celebrate the elements such as fire, wind, and water: they, too, can be your Guru. What works best for me, personally, is a creative and flexible approach whereby I don't follow a system or strict regimen. I have tried the latter and soon discovered that it doesn't work; the approach is stiff, artificial, and rather imitative.

These teachings, so well articulated are so needed by people today. It turns out that yoga is the most sophisticated system for managing the mind and emotions yet invented. Thank you!
The tree is a tree thought. The river is a river thought. The mountain is a mountain thought and I am the I thought - Aham Vritti. When you cling to the Aham Vritti, it will vanish and so will the tree, the river and the mountain, that is, illusion of separateness comes to an end.

I think the essence of spirituality lies in the mind management which we conceive as a new phenomena but it is there in our culture since thousands of years ago. Swamiji Vivekananda has a pivotal role in reinstalling this thorough his teachings which is essentially becoming aware of self which was furthered by Sri Aurobindo in the later days .Thank you once again .

This is a very good lecture. Organized, clear, and concise with a well-defined objective. The symbolism of samudra manthan is very much appreciated. The wisdom of Patanjali enhances the lecture. Couple of issues though. One is that it is somewhat intellectual, meaning one can appreciate the points made but not know how to put them into practice. The other is of intellectual arrogance. It slips out, as as example, wickedness is to be met with indifference. Is it? Seems to normalize this viewpoint. But I had say these are minor criticisms. The lecture overall is just very well done overflowing with wisdom. I really enjoyed listening. Thank you!
First point : yes it is hard to implement for some set of people's

And easy for some set of peoples ( satvaic)
Here the teacher has no access to to someones character quality
Example : a teacher taught mathematics
Some have grasped the concept
And are implementing those concepts to solve math problems
While are not successful in that
The teacher is nowhere to be Critisised
There fore your fist criticism is very baseless

1. Maitri: The practice of extending kindness and goodwill to all beings, fostering a sense of connection and compassion. Promotes connection, compassion, and a sense of community.
2. Karuna: Deep empathy for the suffering of others, coupled with a desire to alleviate that suffering. Enhances empathy, reduces suffering, and fosters supportive relationships.
3. Mudita: The ability to take joy in the happiness and success of others, celebrating their achievements without envy. Encourages positive interactions, reduces envy, and increases personal joy.
4. Upeksha: Maintaining a balanced and impartial attitude, especially towards negative or toxic individuals, allowing one to distance oneself from negativity while still cultivating compassion. Promotes emotional balance, reduces stress, and helps maintain compassion in challenging situations.
