  • This would be the fourth and final day of trains from our "Altoona Weekend" trip at the beginning of April. Having taken the day off of work we'd drag things out and follow the NS Pittsburgh Line east as we slowly made our way back towards home.
Starting our day we'd find ourselves at Union Furnace which brought us quite a bit of a morning rush of trains, including the NS C42 local and the eastbound Amtrak "Pennsylvanian." It was then off to Huntingdon for a little while as the traffic that was out and about would all seem to converge at HUNT Tower.
We'd then end up making "hit and run" stops at Mapleton and Mattawana before spending a little time at the fairly scenic "countryside" spot of Horningford. Realizing we still had some ground to trek to make it closer to home we'd push on and stop in at Duncannon for a short dinner break while our last few road freights rolled by.
Now roughly about 2 ish hours from home, we decided to cool our jets and spend the remainder of the day in and around the Marysville / Enola area, with the goal of seeing what was hanging around (including the hopeful sighting of 9-1-1). We'd first stop by the Rockville Bridge for a couple pictures before heading down to Enola Yard to photograph the many engines sitting down below, including some ECO engines, a plethora of Geeps and even a few stored SD70M-2s.
To close things out, naturally, as the daylight began to fade, we'd hang around the west end of Enola Yard and shoot a couple trains crawling by, including the 9-1-1 which made a timely appearance and stopped right below us! With darkness falling upon us, it was time to hit the road and began the last leg of our journey home on what ended up being a successful day in itself and an overall awesome weekend trip!
Train and location information is included in the video.
