Hi! I’m new to Greek Mythology and wanted to ask where should I start like chronologically? I think it’s the Iliad, then Odyssey, Aeniad, and then Oedipus. But I’ve heard that these are epics based on the myths themselves and that the myths of the Greek Gods were derived from the Minoan Civilization so I’m a bit confused on where to start. Thank you!!
Hi, I would read in the order of the authors so you can see their influence on one another, so Homer (Iliad and Odyssey) first and Virgil (Aeneid) second. In narrative order you would then read Iliad (Trojan War), Odyssey (after Troy) and Aeneid (after Troy). Then read Greek tragedy afterwards as many stories (not all) follow events during and after the Trojan war. classictales.co.uk/ Is a good place for audio versions of the stories. Happy reading!
@@MillennialClassicist Oh ok that makes sense! Thank you!! Also do you know how Ovid’s Metamorphosis falls into this? I’ve heard that it was influenced by Greek Mythology too?
Your videos are great. Do you intend doing 'How many kisses? ' and 'Conflicting Emotions' by Catullus?
Oh how I wish you were still posting. Intelligent, measured and without silly gimmicks and makeup!!!
