Just throwing this out there -- If you get rid of that little 2 foot wing wall that's remaining of the furnace closet and you replace the door to the bedroom where it was before, then you have room for a 4-5 foot entry closet between the living room and the boys bedroom. And you get rid of that annoying jog in the hall way. You don't need that vent on the upper wall in the living room side anymore and that will get cleaned up at the same time. If you don't use it for coats, you could always use it as a linen closet. Maybe half linens and half coats. Just my idea for what it's worth

I bet the boys will be happy to get back in their room!
I was reading an article about lumber prices and the contributing factors for the increase.
It stated that the average lumber cost for a new home is increasing in cost by about 24k.
It's sad when plywood almost breaks the budget!

    • @sam-and-angela

They're excited, but not near as much as we are! :) We'll probably push to finish the boys room first, then the bathroom on things we have choices over. We can live with one bathroom longer than just one bedroom. We shutter to think how much more everything is going to increase in price just because of lumber prices... it's surely got to have some kind of butterfly effect on things overall. Especially after this long! The spike is turning into a plateau. :(

Hi, I love how Angela took a nice 'long rest' there, not!!! Can't stop a good woman!!! You two work so good together, I'm amazed how well you just see what needs to be done and do it without asking the other for help. Ever thought about tracing outlines of the boys on the bathroom dry wall before you put the walls back up? We remodeled our bathroom once and had the boys stand at each end of the tub and we traced their outlines just for fun. We dated it and often wonder what other people might have thought when they redid it again. If you're still living there in another 10 years, and remodel again, I bet the boys will laugh at how 'big' they were during the last remodel!!! Memories, right? Loved your expert hole cutting and loved your happiness at doing it so well, lol. Great job all around!!! Take care, stay safe & healthy. Hugs!!!

Thank you for using actual plywood for the bathroom floor! I see so many people using osb (particle board) in bathroom and kitchen areas and when osb or particle board gets wet it's falls apart or atleast loses strength!! We did a full remodel on a double wide we owned and I replaced the entire floor and exterior walls with real plywood. We also rebuilt exterior walls with 2x6 instead of 2x4s as it gave more strength as well as more room for insulation. It wasn't cheap but our utility bills were reduced by half when we were done. It also really quiet inside now. That was a pleasant bonus we didn't consider. You guys are doing great!! You've also saved yourself a huge amount of money by doing it yourself!

Your right about those blades. I bought myself an oscillating saw because of you guys. Love that dang thing, but it eats blades like crazy 🤷

It looks like the boys will have a much bigger room. I am sure that they will enjoy that.

You make some of this stuff look pretty easy. Of course, EVERYTHING is easy for the one who isn't going to do it...

AT 10.51 where Angela had explained about the small hallway , I wondered if you had considered moving the door opening to the boys bedroom over a bit further to the wall on the right . (where that wooden hat rack is )the space that the door took up could be used to place a door to the bathroom making the bathroom slightly bigger because you have removed the furnace.
