    Super job Boyd as always. I've had a filament printer for years. lve been eyeing the resin printers for some time now but I know if I pull the trigger my life will never be the same again. Haha. Keep building bud.

    Oh this is awesome! I haven't seen the movies in a long time. Makes me want to see them again. Those craft acrylic paints are great and so much more affordable than the often ridiculously priced model paints these days. Excellent tribute to Chris. You did him proud with this and he would have loved it.

    • @TrekWorks
      @TrekWorks  Год назад +1

      Thanks, I do think he would have got a kick out of the build. Not only the craft paints save money, after the upfront cost of buying a printer, there's cost saving there too. For example, the resin Nautilus kit's similar in size to the one I printed are all in the $300-$400 range and need a lot of cleanup of the parts. Besides print time, I had $150 total in the model including paint, electronics, glue and the resin and filament I used to print the parts. The parts fit perfectly with no major work needed which is also a big plus. The Cain Statue figure from Chronicle is close to $2K. This kit cost me $25 for the files and about $10 worth of resin and some craft paints.
      So I'd say if you print several models in a year as I plan to, the printer definitely pays for itself and them some.

      @@TrekWorks Wow! I had no idea. I've bought several 3D printed models lately and they were a bit pricey and I've wondered how much they actually cost the sellers to make. I live in a small townhouse with no garage so I wish I could have the room and ventilation to have a printer to make my own. A person could make decent money selling these models if they had several printers. I bought all five "Batteries Not Included" robots recently and they probably cost me around $560. But I'm just glad I could get them. Maybe one day you could make some sales printing kits for people if you could get another printer or two.

    I have a tip for you by the way Bro.,... get a 5" coffee cup warmer so you can mushroom the end of parts, this way your're safe from actually burning the tips of what you're melting, saves the life of your lighters and you can still use it to keep your coffee hot lol but seriously it works I use mine like that all the time when need to, you'll get flat tips doing it that way but they work unless you want a slight rounded end then have your lighter at the ready.

      Printing is opening up a whole new world for this hobby. There are so many subjects out there that just aren't available anywhere else. Contemporary model kit's will still be around a long time but 3D printing will no doubt continue to grow.

    I'm going to echo what Big Charlie's Model Garage said.. That's pretty freaking cool. Without a doubt...😊
    Now just 10,000 more hours and you can have the city he was standing in when we first say him... 🤣
    I'm 4 years out of date model building. What was the glue and light thing you were using? (Please & Thank You)
    Awesome build, I just don't have the minds eye to see the layering. I have tried on a couple cars and it was not a pretty sight.
    They ended up back in "Awesome degreeser"... :-(

      If you use the link above to see the website, they list a printing service there. I'm not sure what they charge but other printing services I've seen are around $1.50-$2.00 per hour. This model takes a little over 200 hours to print all the parts.
