I used to LOVE the Double Wear, it was one of the only foundations that would hold up to my job. A trick for lighter or more hydrating coverage with it is to wear a light bb cream as your primer. I used to wear a small layer of the Bareminerals complexion rescue as my primer and it would completely balance out my skintone and then I could go in with a much lighter amount of the Estee Lauder and they worked perfectly together. A little bit of a glow would poke through but most importantly I never got cakey because I didn't need to use as much of the Double Wear!
Yes I have been using Lancome Teint Idole for years now and it is my absolute favorite. We have similar skin concerns, I am combo, acne prone, dehydrated and omg what you said was spot on. And another big thing for me is finding a fair shade for me and 090 is PERFECT.
I just bought teint idole online, so it hasn’t even shipped yet, but watching this video has lessened my anxiety over the purchase (I don’t like spending money on expensive products I’ve never tried). We have very similar skin types and three of your foundation reviews perfectly aligned with my experiences. Thank you for this!
I consider myself oily, but since hitting 17, I started noticing dry patches pop up around late fall, winter and some odd spring days. It's only at 21-22 that I've started using a toner and moisturizer regularly and started to look into developing a proper skincare routine. Dehydrated skin routines aren't that helpful for me, but oily skincare routines really help, especially in minimizing acne and excess oil. Cause of this, you'd think the Fenty Matte foundation should be my go-to, but I hate it as much as you do Emily, since it keeps on making patches of my skin look rough, and the foundation literally seems to be sliding off in some parts as well. The Hydrating one however was perfect! Did not experience any of the odd stuff I experienced with the matte one, which is weird since from other brands, I'm always reaching for the matte ones for perfect skin, and needing to avoid dewy or cream-based foundations. Like the consistency of MAC Studio Fix is great on my face, and I really don't get why the Fenty Matte foundation doesn't do the same. I've tried using the Fenty matte foundation with it's primer too, and it barely did much, since the rough patches of skin and pores were still pretty visible to me.
Each day (as your swelling, etc. adjust) you honestly look more beautiful. It's subtle, but evident that everything is settling in and honestly - very pretty.
ADORE the Too Faced Peach Perfect, so I was super glad to see it was one of your go-to foundations 🥰 I have dry skin with an oily t-zone and it just makes my skin look flawless! I don’t even need to blot during the day. Most importantly, it doesn’t make me break out, which many foundations do 😔
Foundations tend to end up looking pretty yellow on me so I look for cool toned versions when I can find it. Lancome's 110C is the first cool toned foundation I've ever tried that actually looks pink on me. It is not messing around, when it says cool toned, it means it. I wear the Neutral shade in that line and it shocks me to do so. It feels lovely and if you prefer a more sheer coverage like I do, even the tiny sample you can get at the store will last you forever.
The hydrating fenty foundation leaves my skin looking scaley and gross. I need to find a better shade and foundation. Every time I go to get a foundation the girls at Sephora make me look orange! And at that time of being in the store I look great but once I leave I look like an oompaloompa.
I really hate the fenty mat foundation and the estee lauder double wear even if i have really oily skin, my holy grail was lancome teint idole until i switch to cruelty free. For the make up for ever i never found my correct shade even if they have 50 shades, for tan skin they don't have a lot of choices!! I also really love the too faced peach perfect foundation!! I really love the video idea :)
Em just a quick question: where would you place the catrice - top drugstore foundation on this list? I'm very tempted by teint idole and the Dior f&b foundations, but I just bought the catrice from your rec and I'm wondering how it compares to your high end faves? Bisou :)
I also love the Dior backstage foundation, I even have the same shade as you! It looks so natural and is so easy to apply! I get compliments on it very often. Now I am very interested in Lancome foundation - I can copy your shade! :D thanks for great review
I love the Dior air flash I also really like the Dior face and body , Lancôme tint idole and the Armani luminous silk and I have try all the foundation you mention except the fenty hydrating foundation
Try mixing double wear with a moisturizer to thin it out and make it a little more hydrating. I find that it still works well without being as dry looking and can make it more everyday appropriate. I often use smashbox primerizer.
Sephora’s new rules made me pick a horrible foundation that I have to use a TON of to make look decent. I’m so happy to find this video as I’m almost out of said foundation. The fact that I still can’t touch the makeup once they swatch it on their pallet is inane.
I LOVE Dior Backstage face and body!! I’m so oily and this is the only foundation that stays on all day and feels lightweight. As the day goes on it looks so good and even after I blot it looks fresh still. I HATE the fragrance but I haven’t found anything close to it so I’ll keep putting perfume on my face for now I guess. 🤷🏻♀️
Thanks for the great insights on each foundation! Adding that lancome to my wish list! 😅 Just goes to show that foundations will work differently, depending on each skin type and what kind of finish you are aiming for. 👍🏻 I love Luminous Silk and the Dior Airflash and I have acne marks and blemish-prone skin, so I was surprised when you mentioned that they work better for people with perfect skin to begin with. The most enjoyable thing about them is that my imperfections still peek through making it look truly natural, and they photograph really well! I feel like I have the nicest skin without looking too makeup-y whenever I look at photos of me wearing them, especially Luminous Silk. And they don’t emphasize texture which is more important for me than hiding redness or acne. So I’m not sure if what you’re looking for is full coverage, and if yes then I agree, you won’t get it from these 2. Great video as usual! 🌟
I tired Estée Lauder double wear and it was too drying for my dry skin. So, I’m looking for a dewy foundation that is high end but available at ulta. I was thinking about the urban decay glowy hydrator foundation.
I use Dior backstage on a daily basis and double wear when I’m performing. To all the dancers out there: that foundation doesn’t move at all even at your sweatiest
Lancome teint idole has different shade names/systems in every region.. In Korea and Japan I saw different ones, and here in Europe they have the most illogical numbers ever that don't say the undertone. I did do the shade finder on the France lancome website, so I'll have to swatch those. My current fave is the Nars radiant longwear foundation, but it's slightly too drying in winter so I'm hoping the Lancome will help with that.
It’s funny you love the Lancome one so much because I also have combination skin and on me this foundation starts fading and melting off, by the time I get home from work my for head is super shiny.
I love the mix of Luminous Silk and the Glossier Skin Tint. I found LS a bit too drying, I could see it on my skin and shade 3 was a tad too light, so I mixed it with a few drops of the PST in Medium and the combo is amazing for me. If you own these foundations and they don't totally work for you (one too dry, the other too sheer), I highly suggest trying this combination ;)
Something I was looking so much yesterday I have purchased anastasia s Foundation from Sephora and they gave me the wrong shade with a wrong undertone... I am gonna Watch this and purchase 💜💜💜
Hello there! I am a sheer/ natural look type girl. With that being said do you think the Dior backstage foundation would go on more sheer with a fluffy brush?
Mine is Nars sheerglow. I used to love dior star but they got rid of it. I tried laura mercier forever wear but the shade is way too dark and oxidises...pity as im sure the lighter shade would have been better.
I have the MUFE foundation in Y225. It’s good on my dry skin but I don’t like how there’s not much coverage. I also have their stick foundation in that line in the same shade and I use that for extra coverage but I don’t use it where I have fine lines bc it really exaggerates them. I use them together like that just to try and use them up. I won’t repurchase either one. I hated the too faced born this way. It looked awful on my dry skin and even though I don’t have pore problems this made them look huge.
Armani foundation is 100 Australian dollars here, which works out to be about 70 dollars with current bad exchange rates. I still can’t believe how expensive makeup here and how cheap in US.🙂loved this video, may I ask what do you think of Mac Studio fix foundation? Thank you. 💕
Have you ever mixed the Double Wear foundation with another more dewy foundation? I feel like that could possibly help the texture and stuff while still keeping the full coverage.
This is a late comment, but does the Teint Idole have alcohol in it? The Sephora site doesn't mention it, but other youtubers I've watched have said it was reformulated so alcohol is the third ingredient! I'd love to try it, but I don't know if I want to spend $50 on what amounts to a bottle of rubbing alcohol 😆
I have normal to dry skin and the born this way foundation dried out the skin on my nose and looked cakey on my skin. It also settles into pores and fine lines I didn’t know I had before. I have small pores and literally no lines on my face so it’s definitely not for dry skin. It has straight up alcohol as a major ingredient which tends to strip my skin. I should’ve listened to my gut instead of the too faced rep at Sephora and stuck to Laura Mercier’s Lumiere Radiance perfecting foundation, which looks and wears so beautiful on the skin. Lesson learned.
Also, thanks a lot for these extensive reviews, Emily! When I saw the thumbnail I thought that might be your final ranking. Then I saw Lancome Teint Idole in the middle and I instantly knew it wasn't ;)
Giorgio Armani luminous silk not only doesn't come in dark enough shades but doesn't come in light enough shades either.... the lightest shade is way to dark for very fair girls...
I just tried stellar limitless foundation and love it! It’s on sale right now at Sephora so I’m not sure if it’s getting discontinued. If it is not you should try it.
foundation is so personal. I have normal skin with some dehydration on my chin and nose. Fenty Matte version is my holy grail- it does not emphasize anything on me. The dewy version I hate- never sunk in, was oily mess 2 hours later. Also didn't like the lancome. So personal and samples are way to go😊
Even without oil drops, it looks flawless on dry skin and gives off a little luminosity without looking flat. That's what I love about Double Wear; it adjusts to your skin type without you having to compromise its formula. This is why it's a holy grail among all skin types. I currently have dry skin due to winter here and I still love it all year round.
I bought the Dior face and body foundation on a whim after reading reviews. I got the right shade first try and it wears amazingly well. I’m normal to oily and have worn it outside doing yard work and it stayed on all even through my sweat. I’ve never liked a foundation this much. It’s very long wearing which is what I wanted. Definitely my favorite right now.
Such a useful video. Thanks Emily! Knowing several of these, helps me see what these would be like. I’m dry skin but you review them so well it’s easy to see if some are a good fit or a hard pass. You didn’t lisp at all btw- well done!👍
How much Double Wear do people wear on their face that they have this impression? I use it everyday and I use so little and it's always very natural, never full coverage and never moves, it just BECOMES my skin and I adore it. But it is never full coverage, and I have (if I dare say) almost perfect skin.
I don't apply much (you can see it in my wear test!) it just seems to emphasize texture in spots other foundations don't. Overall I prefer it when I mixed it with something more lightweight and moisturizing, I find it less dehydrating that way!
BeautywithEmilyFox totally agree. Thanks for the reply! Sorry if I sounded a bit coarse, I just feel comfortable, like you know me too and we are two friends talking 😂. Love your content 😘
Emily! Thank you for sharing these foundation videos. I know that a lot of times you set your foundation with powder. Can you please provide what that is and also the type of brush you use?
MF HD - did not have a good experience with this in the bottle but the stick form is amazing. It left my skin looking flawless but not so in the bottle.
Maybe Nars Scheer glow or the longwear version? Sheer Glow was pretty popular back in the days , did you ever try it? My skin is similar to yours so I always appreciate those videos about foundations or creams 😅 thank you for your devotion 😁
Thank you so much for your extensive research and review! Your efforts do NOT go unappreciated. 👍🏻

Congratulations on your Invisalign! They seem to work fast. Excited for the foundation wrap up!
I "only" have to wear 18 sets so before the end of next summer I should be all done! :D

Can you review Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Foundation from SHISEIDO?
Je n'aime pas du tout le fond de teint Dior. J'ai la peau grasse et il tient très très mal sur moi et n'est presque pas couvrant 😭
Thank you so much for your effort! I really do enjoy your videos and learn a lot about the actual properties of products 💖
Happy to hear it 💖
when you said the estee lauder double wear is your skinny pete...i felt that so hard ❤️
