  • News about the polar vortex has been flooding social media. A polar vortex is not the only place we find vortices. Vortices occur in nature in many places- from the kitchen sink vortex, to whirpools in the ocean, and even wing tip vortices behind aircraft. In this video we explain what exactly a vortex is and how these different types of vortices are formed. We also explain the common thread between all these types of vortices- the conservation of angular momentum. Another common misconception about vortices is the term vorticity- which actually refers to fluid particles rotating about their own axis and not the general rotational motion of particles about a common center.

    How is the vortex in a draining sink affected at the equator compared to 45° north and south of the equator and what would the vortex look like at or as close to the North and South Poles?

      Your question is pretty interesting. I asked ChatGPT the same and here is its reply:
      The phenomenon of the vortex in a draining sink is known as the Coriolis effect, which is caused by the rotation of the Earth. The Coriolis effect causes moving objects, such as air or water, to be deflected to the right in the Northern Hemisphere and to the left in the Southern Hemisphere. However, the Coriolis effect is relatively weak for small-scale phenomena like a draining sink, and other factors, such as the shape of the basin and the initial conditions of the water, can have a much greater influence on the direction of rotation.
      At the equator, the Coriolis effect is minimal, so the direction of rotation of the vortex in a draining sink is primarily determined by other factors, such as the shape of the basin and the initial conditions of the water. Therefore, the vortex at the equator would likely rotate in a random or chaotic direction.

    From a spiritual perspective. We are inside a vortex. The vortex was created by the first creative thought. In the vortex there are different dimensions or state of consciousness.       You cannot trust any group of people who tell you how you have to live, what you can and cannot do to your own life and that anything else is inferior/illegal. If it is truly free will people can do whatever they want to themselves as long as they are not harming innocent lives. Anything else is less than free and proves that all government who police the lives of their people but claim to be free cannot be trusted
