    Part 3 - At the end of the talk Nima discusses some interesting things and stories about Master Chu Shong Tin's abilities.
    *A note about this channel the lineage:
    Sifu Nima King is the owner and team leader of Mindful Wing Chun, a CST Wing Chun school in Hong Kong with affiliations around the world. Mindful Wing Chun is wholeheartedly dedicated to passing on the internal wing chun method as passed down by Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin who was the longest serving student of Grandmaster Ip Man. Chu Shong Tin lived with Ip Man for 5 years (1950-1955) and was coined the title ' the king of siu nim tao' by his master Ip Man.
    He was a legend in the world of Wing Chun (in particular the internal method of wing chun) and spent 64years passing it on full-time before he passed away in 2014. Nim King practiced under hin in Hong Kong for 9 years and established Mindful Wing Chun under CST's guidance. Nima is also on the board of Directors for the 'Chu Shong Tin Alumni' which is a group of senior students of CST that were hand picked by him to establish the Alumni and to uphold and continue his teachings and Wing Chun legacy after he passed away.
    Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin was a very humble and low-key Wing Chun Master therefore its only after we began putting his videos online, that people started to hear about him. In fact, majority of the main Wing CHun teachers (of the Ip Man lineage) who began practice in the 50s and early 60s (apart of Leung Sheung and Lok Yiu) were trained by CST even-though they were Ip Man's students. This is due to CST being the most snr and main teacher of Ip Man's school in those days.
    Nima was lucky to start his practice under CST in 2005 because that's when CST decided to change his teaching to all internal practice so that he can pass on "Nim Tao' and 'Nim Lik' (the mind power/energy cultivated through internal Wing Chun practice) to his students.
    Nima, even though a non-chinese and much younger than the other students of CST, attained a high level of these final teachings. He now mainly teaches the seniors within this lineage and also travels around giving workshops and is working on an online program so that master CST's teaching can have a greater reach.

    Maaaan I love you Nima! I love everything you're doing for us and HOLY SHIT thank you so much for sharing all these great feats of Master Chu as well as his legacy, I almost shed a tear. It is my dream.. no.. my desitiny to one day be able to work hand in hand with science and explain all this, but more importantly reveal this to the world. Together we can all continue his legacy... Master Chu lives through us all. I am blessed to have a great Sifu whose teaching me this gift now and mark my words, the Western world WILL know about this.

    Interesting listening to you and Chu Shong Tin’s talks about Nim Tao. I believe a similar concept is found in Chi Gung. I recall a book by a Master Lam Kam Chuen which used a set of exercises focused on visualising baloons between the fingers, knees, and every other joint around the whole body. These intentional or visualised baloons help to not only give a measurement of space between the joints, but also that they act as imaginary cushions, helping one to relax whilst holding difficult positions. The joints while bent in a natural position (not forced), and by visualising the baloons to expand allow one to ‘grow’ outwards without muscular commitment and without straightening, giving a feeling of outward intention between all of the joints, as well as the limbs in their relation to the body. Some call this energy chi, though many mistakenly relate it to a ‘force’ such as is in the Star Wars movies... Some interpretations liken it to the air. In fact Chi Gung is mostly focused on the breath (of the air) and the natural ‘control’ of breathing. Wing Chun does this too with breathing correctly. Though this energy of intent could also be interpreted as the space in which air or the breath fills, which could also be applied to that of the expansion of the joints Chu Shong Tin has mentioned in relation to the outward expansion or the rising intent of Taigong and Seng via Nim Lik.
    I have been finding your videos very interesting and informative. Thank you for your great efforts in keeping Grandmaster Chu’s legacy alive~

    Thanks alot Sifu Nima, 3 course meal of food for thought, again you have astounded me, i think as practice with meditation gets bettter, and as the quality of meditation improves, then so does calmness of mind chatter decrease, and i think once its gone totaly then u can use all of your mind with certianty and without doubt and question, because the part of our mind that gives us duality is also the part of our mind that gives us doubt and tell us we cant do things, once we can silence this bit, then there is no question to our abiliity to move along that fine line, i think this has something to do with what u say, doing it with openess and with love ralther than with GRRRR removes many doubts and obsticals

      Yeah man it certainly is something very real. Having said that there is a lot of BS out there and there are plenty who claim they are teaching it but actually its just a marketing tool for them. The only way is to actually experience it for yourself by either feeling it from a genuine practitioner or feel it within your own body and mind by following a genuine practice that will get you there. For our method you can check out www.mindfulwingchun.online if interested. Best of luck!

    Sifu Nima, I have practiced siu nim tao in different ways now, ALOT over last week, both with linking breath, and doing it with no feeling of movement, moving very very slowly, i think after study of this, ive noticed that when i change my breathing my focus changes... so ive had different perspectives when my breathing changed, when i did it extreamly slowly, i started to notice tensions in posture, and i also noticed start end end points of tendons and i see there is a window between those tendon motions, the other thing is that i only physicaly moved when i was totaly relaxed, changed everything quite a bit. I think linking to breath had the effect of rounding off movements so the movments become syndronised and fluid... so two very big and different perspectives from changing speed and syndronous/async breathing.. I also applied this to chum kiu and i can start to feel the second axis.. everything seems to be activating and changing. Thank you so much Sifu Nima, Would never have been able to see this without your videos of Sigong and Yourself, Thank you for sharing

    There a couple of things that come up here, there's this other guy called dynamo jack who could do all kind of weird stuff as well. Than there's Mantak chia who goes into details about how these things work on an energy level. Personally, I think it all has to do with becoming more subtle, the more subtle you become the easier it becomes to move energies within the body. At not as much wowo energies, I mean actual energy of external force. We always start with like basic redistribution of energy, eventually moving it to the ground. But if we have access to much more subtle framework we could transform energy into anything else, even just body vibration on a very subtle level. It's interesting to see how all of these things naturally intertwine with natural functions. Like we trauma, animals (including humans) release their body through body vibrations (TRE). In vipassana they teach you clearly feel these vibrations and any other form of tension you experience is a gross force. After some time you can transform these gross forces within the body to a subtle vibration on an atomic level.

  • @astillero711
    @astillero711 8 лет назад +1

    The energy isn't being dissipated it's being rerouted back into the aggressor. That's why a person can feel immovable. It really is all about the wrist and the point of contact if you're palm to palm. Have a partner push you similar to the illustration you showed. If you both project correctly you'll feel a repelling force similar to a magnet. The trick is sending the energy back by balancing out force while maintaining neutrality. Dont add or subtract power just match his output.

    • @MindfulWingChun
      @MindfulWingChun  8 лет назад +1

      Thanks for the kind comment. It might be interesting to know that Chu Shong tin could do that to incoming force not just at the wrist. he could do it when you pushes on his chest, on his forearm (in chisau) etc. It was rather mind-blowing and hard to believe even though I was there and feeling it from him day in day out!
      Cheers,
      Nima

    • @astillero711

      I agree 100% it can be applied using any part of the body. In my old school, we called this skill projection. Wrist projection is mainly used for attacking/defending with hands, forearms and elbows. Conversely the ankles assume the same function for the legs. At higher levels it can be applied in any situation whether grappling or striking. Thanks for the response

    When you stand on the scale and someone pushes you. Your weight should increase or decrease? When I stand on the scale and someone pushes me - my weight lowers on 4-5 kg (my own weight is 70 kg). When I see videos with CST his weight was
    increasing. I tried to avoid leaning forward because when you leaning forward your weight will lessens. So I stand upright without leaning back/forward and just move my hand straight into assistant’s hand and my weight is decreasing on 4-5 kg.

    • @MindfulWingChun
      @MindfulWingChun  8 лет назад +1

      Yes the key is not to lean forward because when we lean we obviousely get lighter. It's not too difficult to get lighter by a couple of KGs; but CST has 2 people trying to push him over and he was significantly lighter on the scales (I'm not sure exactly how much weight was decreased and transferred into the opponents but). cool stuff!!

    • @johnrogers4983
      @johnrogers4983 8 лет назад +1

      The only way he could get lighter according to physics is if he could transfer some energy/weight back to the pusher. There is no other way, energy can't be lost according to the Conservation of energy.

    that was brilliant, I did enjoy that. so are you saying, keep your mind intent on the target or imaginary when engaging the body in ffwd movement. and is there a little tension in the abs like yoga keeping core engaged
    at all times. Anyway, wish you guyz all the best.

    • @MindfulWingChun
      @MindfulWingChun  7 лет назад +2

      Yes, Keep your mind on the target (where your arm will stop moving finally) but also mentally visualize the path that the arm must take to get to the target (i.e. straight line).
      And the abs shouldn't be tense. the feeling can be described as: imagine you are trying to stop yourself from going to the bathroom (#2) but do not use tension of muscular force. the intention will have a very slight lift at the anus area. this helps to relax the abs, lower back, hips and the entire mid section, therefor connecting the upper and lower half in a mindfully relaxed way.
      hope that makes sense.

    Hi Nima, I'm a Sifu under the Ip Chun linage (based in Sweden), I'm the founder of our soft internal WingChun based on WingChun internal energy development pattern that we called BioEnergy. The secret of the WingChun internal energy is based on the TeiGang (hip raising position in triangle structure),, the development are based on the 3 force theory of 1. Mindfullness, 2. Mind-power (NimLik) and then 3. BioEnergy. This are the 3 level of the sk. internal development from WingChun. BioEnergy is a energy form that can use not only for martial art application but also for healing that I also doing demo on my students. In WingChun this is mainly develop the negative energy form that has soft
    characteristics, comparing to hard martial arts. The common question are how WingChun internal energy differ from QiGong, and the common answers are that WingChun internal does not store energy in DanTian due to may reasons, the WingChun energy are on demand from the ground. Hi Peter, nice meeting you here and thanks for sharing. So Taigung actually shouldn't raise the hip with what we do in our method, it is just a simple activation of the very deep core muscles with results in the interconnection of the upper and lower halves of the body. The pelvis and lower spine must stay in neutral position at all times.
      Also, the power of the CST method of Wing Chun comes from the center of mass and at higher levels we dont absorb nor bounce the force from the ground. Actually just today I finished editing a 3part video on this subject with CST explaining and demonstrating it, so stay tuned :)
      Let me know if the above makes sense and is similar to what you do please? Cheers from Hong Kong Peter.

      Not sure about what Jesus could do to be honest :) And yeah I did watch the videos on John Chang. Very interesting and mind blowing stuff if its all true

      hahaha, thanks my friend! I'm going to try and be the best I can be for myself. There will always be someone better because no matter how could someone is they will still get old and frail eventually. Thanks for the kind words though!
