Eater-Sized Catfish, Cursed Fishing Rods, and Crazy Bait at Rend Lake

April 2, 2020: I hope everyone is staying safe and well during this crazy time.
Early last month, I spent a few hours on Rend Lake in Southern Illinois targeting eater-sized channel catfish to fillet and fry. My mother and daughter spent the day on the lake with me, enjoying some of the first springtime weather we've had in our region.
Bait of choice was cut gizzard shad, but my daughter, Caitlin, also talked me into using a white grape as bait. I like grapes. She likes grapes. Do Channel Catfish like grapes too?
