Def prefer the looks of this V over the others shown, never been a fan of the pickguards, so this minimalistic look is perfect for me, and ofc its red so you can play faster
I have a 1983 Gibson V that I got for my 15th birthday. Great guitar was my number 1 thru my teenage metal band years. Been pretty much in the case for the last 30 years
A friend of mine owned one of these red ones and loaned it to me for an extended period of time. I loved how light it was but he bought it used and it had an Invader type pickup in the neck and a covered pup in the bridge that I could never get along with. Wish I could find a good example for myself these days.
Good to see you cover some more of these models, I like the explorers and have had maybe 5 or 6 of them. One interesting thing I heard you mention is that the body/neck construction is alder/maple but they actually vary greatly. Most seem to be alder/maple, but I've had some with all mahogany as well as mahogany/maple within the years '84 and '85. By '86 they all seem to be mahogany. Thanks for posting.
Very nice clean tones from these models.I believe Fagan used these in studio a lot for their cleaner tones.sweet example.I think the df pups are perfect and great demo here today.thanks for the info and the show.great job Austin.
Man, Trogly, you really took my earlier comment about daily uploads seriously :) I like the many episodes by the way. But I also like the rarer, longer, more added value ones. They are all good.
I've got a white (now cream) '84 all original but it has the ugly Grover's on it, I didn't know they also came with tulips. Great video, thanks for the info.
The 84 greenburst v in michigan was mine i sold it an jose is correct they are aqua burst but the aging yellowing turns its green i found that guitar in a rundown pawn shop laying against the wall in a pile of other guitars was painted white took me 2 months to get the white paint off i got it with the case for 300 dollars lol not saying what i sold it for
Very cool gibson flying V !! My uncle just recently purchased a 2016 limited edition flying V in the vintage amber finish. It came with the dirty finger plus pickups i think? Said dirty finger in gold letters right on the Pick ups. Has the big gibson logo truss rod cover too which looks kinda neat. Just 2 knobs though one volume one tone. Looks kinda like the one you have here though overall. He likes it. Prices are up and down lately on his model though. But anything limited edition seems to hold a good value in the long run. I think they only made it in the one color too. Its got a nice natural looking wood color with nice wood grain to it. Thanks for the sharing the V's
Love the show!! Happy you got Mike.. He does do a bit better demo on what an axe sounds like.. PLEASE add what size the frets are to your check list. Go TROG!!!
That wasn't Greenburst. It was actually called Aquaburst because it was a fine metallic aqua blue color, but the clear finish that Gibson has always used turns a yellowish tint over the years. Thus, yellow and blue combined making it look a green color. I know, I own one and have researched it. Mine is a 1984 re-issue of a 1967. Excellent playing guitar. I thought of selling it when I saw one sell about a year ago for $5,800.00. It was all beat up. Mine is immaculate compared to that one. Anyways, great video! Peace.
So I just purchased an 84 candy red with the Kahler. All original with the case and no checking or cracks. It has one very small ding on the underside. Original bill of sale from 1984, warranty card and the “Gibson Super Tune Vibrola” setup and adjustment book. Paid $800. Did I over pay? Be honest with me please........
The pic of that cream V with the Kahler was exactly like mine, except I had a Seymour Duncan with a coil split switch. I couldn’t get it back from my best man. Bad choice on a best man and to leave it at his house.
I sexually identify as an oven mitt I identify as a black female but everyone keeps telling me I’m a white male I sure do hate those discriminating jerks
A pawn shop in town is asking 1500 for a red w kahler I was gonna talk him down what r they worth seems to be in great condition with only a few small dings on the body.
I own an 92, I bought brand new. Totally stock, players grade. How much? It's on my channel if you wanna see it? It's the last guitar on my collection video.
Same dam case... plus the cracking with the paint. Honestly... I dislike playing it. Too muddy in sound. I was MSG then had to have one... you know... to be cool.
$800-$1600 is what they will actually sell for.- Not to be confused with 'asking' prices reverb.com/item/13646225-gibson-flying-v-designer-series-black-1984-s535
This thumbnail didnt do you any favors... I think a picture of a candied apple would be better to compare to the candy apple red finish (instead of dirty hands)
I have to say I do not like your new Rob Chapmen demo guy. I really don’t think solos and licks are all the V is good for. It’s an outstanding riff guitar! I really enjoy listening to you play the demos. Just my opinion.

I generally don't like humbuckers for clean tones, but those pickups sounded great without any gain!

Sadly, that's all of them for now!
I have a 1984 designer series (tornado swirls) signed by artist SS…bought it new in Texas…man I’m old..😬
I have owned my V-83 since '92 and have loved every moment this ax has been played. My friends know they can play any of my guitars, except the "V."
Wow really nice smooth jam in there. Great playing man! Love the spacey editing too
As usual, great video Austin. Thank You
love the "dirty fingers" , back in '86, I put them in my bc rich and kramer- wish I hadn't sold those guitars

I like the V-s with the UNstupid trussrod covers.
Had one just like it. Wish I still had it..

Great sounding pickups...

Yeaah I have those pickups, they sound so crunchy 😎 🔥 I sooo want that Black V though
I own a red pickguardless V! Nice jam!

I have the Explorer in red from that era. It's my favorite thing on Earth .
What are the Kahler bridge Vs worth?
Candy red W/original case?
I really enjoy your show. I have quite a collection of guitars I find your show informative and interesting to watch. Thanks. Reb Floyd
Thanks for watching!
That Green Burst is Mint!

I also wanted to add it’s also fun to watch. Reb Floyd
I gotta admit that I never really liked the flying V design but after wathcing your videos I'd like to get my hands on one!
Nice sounding axe
Oh that's went quick
That sounds amazing
I have a white 86 with an ebony board, grover tuners, and the dirty fingers. Are you sure they are alder. Mine looks like mahogany in the cavity area.
The majority are alder - but that doesn't mean there aren't some made out of mahogany
i have one of these.. early custom shop... very rare...
The pic of that cream V with the Kahler was exactly like mine, except I had a Seymour Duncan with a coil split switch. I couldn’t get it back from my best man. Bad choice on a best man and to leave it at his house.

*YEE* (And i cant express this enough) *HAW*
I have this guitar with a floyd rose... same color
I get a Eric Johnson vibe from Mike’s playing
what amp did you use and what pedal?
Kk downings madalion v from the breaking the law video recently went up for sale
Beautiful sounds. There also should be a complete reissue of every Gibson in a Purpleburst again. Outtasite.
I have the same red one. But with kahler. Why is it worth less?
Collectors generally aren't interested in the versions with Kahlers so they sell for less
Love dirty fingers
A pawn shop in town is asking 1500 for a red w kahler I was gonna talk him down what r they worth seems to be in great condition with only a few small dings on the body.
With a Kahler, about $800-$1100
No dirty rhythm sound in the playthrough? That's what it's made for!
You said $800, but i couldn't find one on reverb for under $1200
5:50 Ah I see you enjoy Mr. Adam Neely as well. Remember kids, repetition legitimizes
those special effects XD
8:00 lol
Had same exact guitar traded a guitar I had 300 into sold it to Guitar center same day for 800.

I own an 92, I bought brand new. Totally stock, players grade. How much? It's on my channel if you wanna see it? It's the last guitar on my collection video.
Great condition sounds great but I really wouldn’t one.
Everything you said... i have. LOL
"Kayler"? "Karler"?
Sounds Metal as hell, but it looks like a lower end model.
Same dam case... plus the cracking with the paint. Honestly... I dislike playing it. Too muddy in sound. I was MSG then had to have one... you know... to be cool.
Man gas level is over 9000 on these
It sounds very 80's.
Great pickups. But on them doesnt exist the name dirty fingers
Review an explorer plz
I've got a new 2019 on the way!
YESS

I have to say I do not like your new Rob Chapmen demo guy. I really don’t think solos and licks are all the V is good for. It’s an outstanding riff guitar! I really enjoy listening to you play the demos. Just my opinion.
Yeah, i like listening to Trogg too... Not to say this guy's bad, hes really good.. But i like listening to trogg better
Wesley alan I’m not saying the guy is a bad player. Just solos and licks don’t help hearing tone repeatedly.
