How can Sky be penalized for the lag? His opponent was down stroking the cue ball so how can Sky predict when his opponent is going to pull the trigger? This is truly mind blowing.
I believe the pros only played in this tournament to showcase how poorly these are run compared to matchroom events. This tournament is beyond ridiculous and unprofessional.
I been playing pool for 50 years and never heard of the lag issue here before?? Woodward has no control over his opponent pausing and making this problem.
Payne failed to start rolling before Skyler's ball hit the end rail. That's the rule. Bustamante once lost a lag for allowing his cue ball to cross the midline at the near rail. Rules are rules.
Once your opponent is down and stroking for the lag, how the fuck am I supposed to determine if he strokes it 2 times or twenty. Aside from the fact that I'm nowhere near as good as these pros, I also know I don't have the patience to deal with stupid, so I would've certainly lost my shit.😂
A satisfying outcome for me: Sky won this match without the need for a shoot-out. Whatever McBride's 'honor' rating was, he reduced it by 50% with that scam lag attempt. Great kudos to the referee for calling him on it, and i'm _elated_ that Sky got a *perfect* result on the re-lag, as he did on the lag that was made null and void by McBride. No reason Sky should get penalized for his opponent's underhandedness. (Maybe someday, WPA will fine-tune its lag rule to see that that can never happen.) On the other hand, there's getting to be a _surfeit_ of reasons to like Skyler, with a short waiting period before he provides another one.
I can see relating if that other guy would Hage won that lag. Skylar isn't the one that waited so long to hit. He shouldn't be penalized for that. But hey, that's the rule. A stupid one.
This lag is B.S.! The rule used to be that one or the other opponent couldn't shoot their lag ball AFTER their opponents lag ball hit the short rail. They should have an audio timer to where the players have to shoot their lag balls at the same time. That way the other opponent can't judge their opponents lag speed to determine theirs.
Your 'audio cue' idea is a good one. Maybe, though, not even a count-down timer (that could allow players to 'jump the gun'). Let the (single) audio cue come as a complete surprise to both of them.
Not Expert opinion: That pause in Skylar's stroke is throwing him off. Not everyone needs a pause in their stroke, looks robotic when he does it. Great player, made some great shots, but he just looks off.

sky waving at the crowd after the second lag lol

whats wrong with a re lag

Efren was robbed of two racks once for not calling the pocket for the last ball.
9 ball is the most exciting but I'm glad to watch these titans controlling the cue ball in any game. Mesmerizing.
If you search payne mcbride on youtube. You can literally watch how fast he is improving.
What happened with the lag?

sky won the lag flat out

excting match.......Major Payne took Sky to the limits but Sky came up with the huge shots when he needed them
good
Camera sucks
Does this referee have money on Payne McBride or something?!?!?
I don’t care for some of the matchroom refs but damn these are the worst refs I’ve seen in my life
Why?
Dc
Why do you think like that?
It's like a nightmare
Never bodes well to argue with the ref or the regs. Pointless actually.
Sky is going to win
this kids better than styler and woodward lol
Not yet but give him a couple more years and he will be. Should have a promising future.
Leave it to the WPA to continue to make pool stupid at the highest level

thanks internet 9 ball champion.
i see zero difference in his stroke, he has always played like this afaik
Horrendous rule
I’m confused why some matches at this tournament did “winner breaks at most two racks” and some did “winner breaks”. 🫤 🤔
