Always remember: Jirai Gumo costs less then 100 starchips, and other great monsters like Dark Elf and Labyrinth wall are pretty cheap twoo because of their one sided stats. They are a great way of suplementing your grindingnij free duel mode!
I only played FM for the first time a couple years ago so i have no nostalgia for it, but i will say i enjoyed it quite a lot. While the grinding and RNG are easily the games biggest flaws, FM does several things better than the actual card game itself, primarily its fusion system. Being able to contact fuse straight from the hand and fusions having more generic materials is something i wish early yugioh implemented.
I love this game. Sure, it's mostly unga bunga beatdown focused, but it's unique among Yu-Gi-Oh! games and the advantage system is an interesting idea. Now, the grind is absolutely atrocious; if not going for a "purist run" I endorse playing the 5, 10 or 15 card drop mods.
Was interesting to hear some of the background information for this game, definitely learned a thing or two I'm actually playing the Mod 15 version of the game at the moment. The key difference is that every single card in the game is dropped by at least one of the duelists. Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon, Gate Guardian, Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth, B. Skull Dragon, Cosmo Queen, Tri-Horned Dragon and Magician of Black Chaos all drop at 1/2048 (~0.0005%) I play the game on fast forward and it's still an absolute slog aha. They certainly could have done a better job at making the game more balanced.
I made the comment about it right when you talked about Izishu 😭. Actually I looked it up really quick, apparently this game came out in American around the time the Batte City season started in the dub, so that must of confused some fans of the dub seeing one character with two different personality between two different medias.
Seeing how the manga storyline wasn’t even solidified yet alone released to the public while this game was being made…it sounds like it shouldn’t even exist/count💀 wow I never knew this. Ty!
I had some neighbors and classmates who had this. I never got to play this or any of the big console Yugioh games. I had just about all of them for game boy advance tho
i remember playing this game for several months and hearing about rumors of what cards could be obtained but only to find out years later that some were impossible to get without pocket station or grinding for 1 million minus 1 star chips which would take a couple years to achieve. still never won a blue eyes because it was only obtainable from the hardest duel in the game.
@@JanjoZone these were on gamefaqs lol. i remember grinding a lot for meteor black dragon's however. tbh, getting one megamorph was worse because of forcing pegasus to deck out who could see your cards. also recently i learned some opponents have at least 10 cards in their hands.
I've wanted to try out this game, but the amount of grinding you need to do has been a turn-off for me. I hope Konami makes a modern game in the style of forbidden memories with QoL features. Maybe it can be based on the actual final arc of the manga.
Two things that annoy me about this game: 1. Despite coming out after Dark Duels stories (the Japanese one) it doesn’t include any of the monsters from the Yugi vs Pegasus and most of the monsters from Bandit Kieth vs Joey but rather the exact same card roster as DDS 2. The star sign system. They should’ve made it elements that astrology stuff is so unintuitive yet I do like the idea of some cards having type advantages.
One of my most hated games ever. It was a pain to play. You explained it in this review perfectly why. Duelist of the Roses was way better (despite its flaws).
The high meadow mage is easily the hardest mage not one of the easiest. The Desert and ocean are by fair easier. Mountain mage and forest mage have max monsters that hit 3500 boasted to 4000. I do think the card trade in feature was absolutely useless and the card drops were feature feels like game padding but I can't say I don't have a soft spot for this game beat it 3 times
Tried playing a couple of years ago. And grew bored quite quickly. Game is very one dimensional with little strategy besides learning the weird "type chart" of the star system or whatever is called, and having the strongest monsters and spell/traps. Fusions are cool early game, but the moment the npcs start playing things stronger than the twin head thunder dragon, the game stopped being fun. I very much prefer playing Duelist of the Roses, even if that game is very easy past the rough learning curve

Well, it's difficult, but it has a kick-ass OST.
Raw with no 15-card mod you are genuinely signing up to be tortured (can confirm) but its fun.
Hard game. Terrible grind. Kick ass music and early Yu-Gi-Oh! duel logic that can't be found in other games.
They forgot to give us a means to get more cards like the Japanese version can. So I say use the all cards game shark code if you're going to play.
