  • Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes takes us to a very familiar Fodlan that quickly goes out of control once Shez is introduced to the story. While these new changes and additions may be obvious to many who played the original game, Fire Emblem Three Hopes, a few are better hidden than others while others are sure to confuse many. Let's go over each route: Edelgard's Scarlet Blaze, Dimitri's Azure Gleam and Claude's Golden Wildfire!
    This video is an analysis on the biggest story changes so far. And I will be leaving my personal opinion on whether they were executed well or not in a separate video. This video does not focus on new character introductions, though. As all new characters dropped will be for the video after this one.
    Of course, this video will contain spoilers for of the free demo.
    Fire Emblem (Warriors 2): Three Hopes is a spin-off title based on Fire Emblem Three Houses. Its an alternate universe that also introduces new characters into the world of Fodlan. This analysis contains story spoilers for Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

      For me, it's the cutting short of the Academy Phase and Edelgard's scaled back ambitions. I'm honestly mad about the former.
      Also, I don't think the flashback is even of the Battle of the Tailtean Plains. It's at night/early morning, for one, and Nemesis is also nowhere to be seen.

    From dialogues from the first exploration in Three Houses and the changes in the Pre-Skip Three Hopes ... we can safely assume that one of the goals of the bandit attack aside from killing students that could pose an obstacle to the Empire and TWSD Claude and Dimitry especially was to allow Jeritza to lead one of the houses preferably the BE giving them more influence in the Academy ...
    Meaning Byleth in the original timeline, not just foils the bandit scheme, but also unexpectedly obstructs another of their schemes, drawing more attention from TWSD especially with Rhea taking such inexplicable actions, add to that the reemergence of a famed former captain of the Knights and that would definitely make them pay more attention which at the same time would limit Edelgards ability to move as she wants or even to oppose them
    In addition because of Rheas character, she takes time to evaluate Byleth in an safe environment by holding a mock battle, "wasting" time and so loosing the opportunity to rescue the real Monica ...
    Shez from the perspective of TWSD only foils the bandit attack but does not obstruct any of their other schemes immediately as Jeritza becomes a leader of a house, nor is the addition of one student enough to warrant that as much scrutiny, which is a lapse that give Edelgard an unexpected opportunity, with the later revelation I would not be surprised if it was her that orchestrated both the bandit remnants being intercepted and their rescue ... since TWSD dont have any reason to save disposable bandits on their own ... she also makes sure that Jeritza leads the overlooked wild card that is Shez into a conflict with TWSD ... and rescue someone who is loyal to her primarily ...
    In addition without Byleth Present Rhea does not focus on reawakening her mother and acts in a more as a proper leader originally

    People have always been on and on about "Edelgard should have gone for TWSITD first" and now we got it. Thanks to Shez cockblocking Byleth, Jeritza got in, and Kostas was dead. That gave Edelgard the chance to cleanly get rid of them from the Empire. That gave so much new potential for making a clear declaration of war.
    As you mentioned, she no longer has any guilt by association. She also prevented the Remire massacre and also prevented students from being experimented on by the Agarthans to become Crest Beasts. The scariest part of the game wasn't facing the Ashen Demon in the prologue, it was the game using our save data to name this version's Byleth.
    Given the stories of 3H felt far from cohesive and at times unbalanced, there seems to be a focus on political intrigue. And it very much called my attention.
    * The difficult political decisions in Dimitri's route, during the empire's invasion
    * Edelgard turning against the TWSITD as soon as Monica was rescued
    * Claude's route incorporating his heritage, likely going to create family drama with his brother.

There are still characters, i'd like to meet like Mariannes father or Raphaels sister, but even if we don't get to meet them, i can't complain anymore in the slightest, since we got so much in that regard already.
    In terms of changes to the story... since it is a warriors game i expected big changes but so far there is no dealbreaker for me. They didn't pull any unacceptable shenanigans.... YET. I'm still cautious

    One thing I really respect and appreciate is they put the critical point of divergence right at the beginning. They change and event from six months prior to the start of Three Houses, and use that to completely avert the first event of that plot proper. This leaves them wide open to do this, completely changing the political landscape to open up new plots, rather than trying to crowbar the new character and outcomes into an established cause and effect. It takes balls to go "Let's change EVERYTHING" and brains to have it make sense.

  • @nicodalusong149

    The biggest change I think is who we're following this time. In Three Houses we follow Byleth and what happens in each of the houses he chooses to teach. In Three Hopes, we follow the house leaders. The switch essentially lets us go from "if you pick this route, this will happen" to "all of these things are happening, we just happen to be present for different things based on who we choose to go with". As Shez, we're essentially just going along for a ride until we get to our next chance to fight Byleth. While I like it, I also worry that our insert character's own story becomes inconsequential. Hopefully Shez fighting Byleth becomes important in some way aside from forcing Sothis to awaken.

      @freshlymemed5680 2 года назад +6

      Maybe in the end Shez will realize that their revenge quest against Byleth was pointless and there are more important things to fight for. Similar to how Byleth sort of becomes more human through out the 3 houses routes since the early chapters imply they're pretty quiet and emotionless and Dmitri even says Byleth initially seemed like an emotionless machine of war.

    • @l.n.3372
      @l.n.3372 2 года назад +5

      Tbh in AM and VW, Byleth feels the most like he's just along for the ride too. AM is primarily about Dimitri's arc and Byleth is only there to support him thru it. But that route is the least about Byleth and his own background. While VW is more about Fodlan lore and not about Byleth lore. In VW, Claude is mainly driving the plot to uncover the truth and Byleth is tagging along for the ride. The only routes driven by Byleth are SS (obviously) and CF. Because Byleth makes the huge choice of Rhea vs Edelgard: the church vs the Empire. So Byleth drives both plots more and on SS, we learn about Byleth and his mother the most.

    I personally think pacing wise, this game does a good job with it's story and gameplay. Just like 3Houses, it threw you into things, jumped along very quickly the first few months, and then got to a point where it started to have a steady progression once prologue is out of the way. That and the fact, that's majority of the complaints I see about the game is weird, cause after prologue, only a single chapter is playable after timeskip, so it might seem weird compared to 3Houses in some ways, but in others, it's the same, if not done slightly different for the sake of not repeating all of the monastery majority of us have put hundreds of hours into before.
    For that, I appreciate it, cause obviously alot of stuff was still reused from 3Houses, and a good bit of 3Houses was touched on to pay homage(I guess?) To 3Houses, but in a way to make this game not just a repeat of it. I didn't even play the first FE Warriors game, but I'm excited for this one, and am still enjoying the demo.
    Sidenote, it makes no sense to say it's confusing(they explain nicely IMO), and technically if you played 3Houses before this game and vice versa, they both would spoil atleast some stuff for each other, as a sequel/prequel probably would do in almost all cases.

So whether you played 3Houses or not, as s long as you pay attention to in game info, dialogue, and read things thoroughly, everything up til that point is almost all explained, if not just some minor things here and there. As they were in 3Houses, and only the first non prologue chapter is even available, so we have no idea when/which questions will be answered and how. It's not any different than if you played this game first, then went and tried 3Houses after(as a decent amount of people probably will), you'd pretty much be getting all the same tools, world, and lore, just a different piece/perspective of it, with a slightly altered timeline. That, and it's obviously a game aiming for replayability, so obviously, they probably expect you to miss a few pieces you'll pick up on your following playthrough.

      It's fine to be brief with the academy stuff that isn't needed. But this demo has pacing issues. I think Ghast spoke to this well during his streams. Black Eagles goes from like 0 to 50 to 500 insanely fast. It's unrealistic to expect a bunch of newly trained students to be able to infiltrate Enbarr and arrest Duke Aegir and Arundel that soon - not to mention that half the Black Eagles didn't even attend this mission. It's a mission of very unrealistic proportions for such an early stage in the game. I mean think about it. It probably took place less than 3/chapters months into the academy phase. Most units wouldn't even be in their advance classes yet at that point in the story, yet somehow they can arrested Duke Aegir and chase away Arundel by now?

    • @1ViivviiXMusic1
      @1ViivviiXMusic1 2 года назад +1

      @L.N. I agree to an extent, I haven't played or seen the Black Eagles route, so can't speak for that one. But is it really more realistic they wouldn't defeat people like Arundel/Rufus/Ect? As far as I'm aware, they might be experienced but in the end, aren't they just normal people? And I don't mean status/position wise, I mean as in power(supernatural or not)/capabilities in combat, with an army facing an army? They might have the crown/fancy armor, but they are just a better than average person as in power? I might be wrong, so my bad if so, but also just I guess another way to look at it.
      And they added more veteran characters during the "big chapters" of the prologue(holst, rodrigue, shamir, ect) to atleast give them an even better chance/ability to win said fights, and the battle itself would sound absurd if it was literally just some academy students busting in a capital city alone, and taking over, but with veteran characters on the field, and a whole army, and above average capability academy students sounds a bit more reasonable as a whole.
      One thing I don't understand and didn't know for lack of knowledge on BlackEagles, is that a good bit of that house wasn't in their big last Paralogue battle, that sounds stupid tbh, so I see the complaint there.
      Plus in all seriousness, it gives me hope that those are early bosses/figures, gets me excited that there will be even crazier/powerful antagonists, but that's just me.
      But it does sound like the Black Eagles might of been slightly overdone with the jumping points, but we can't really say in the grand scheme if it's "too early" for those people to die, cause we don't know everything that is come after them I guess. I would say IMO, what I saw in Blue Lions and Golden Deer, seemed perfectly fine atleast. But I'll hold my thoughts on Black Eagles, cause I honestly don't know, other than what you listed in your comment.

    I've heard that many characters will be route locked this time around. I'm both very happy yet simultaneously torn on this concept. It's what I had always wanted for the main game too. But based on data mining, some of the choices seem very random. Not enough characters are route locked for my tastes: I say go big or go home. And I'm very confused as to why a few specific characters are now route locked when they have little reason to be.

      Groan
      It's a monkey's paw wish. We'll get characters that are route specific, but according to you some of the choices of characters are random, and that makes it pretty obnoxious.
      Unless the game can give a perfect reason why people would defect to Edelgards army, it's just silly for anyone to fight for her. It just makes me think less of the characters. If i were to explain myself why I think each character shouldn't be present in her route we would be here all day.
      All I will say is that there a couple of characters that never should be able to defect to her army, period.
      Ingrid and Annette. That's jumping the shark to a ludicrous extreme. I even think Ashe and Caspar fighting on her behalf to be absurd. Especially Ashe.
      As for other armies? I can buy them wanting to support them if for no other reason then to stop Edelgard. Which was for all intents and purposes the reason in other routes in 3 Houses. But Edelgard? It was a reach then and its especially a reach now.

      Do you want spoilers from the data mining? If so, see below:
      In the data mine, these Black Eagles are route locked (Edelgard, Hubert, Ferdinand, and Caspar). Any other Black Eagles can go anywhere. I'm confused as to why Bernadetta and Linhardt aren't route locked too, given their fathers.
      For the Blue Lions, all are route locked except for Mercedes and Ashe. Mercedes can join the Black Eagles, which makes sense given Jeritza. Ashe can go anywhere. This is fine.
      In the Golden Deer, only Claude and Hilda are route locked. But Lysithea and Leonie can join the Empire. I could understand Lysithea maybe. But why would Leonie join Edelgard? And why can't Leonie join the Kingdom? Seems very strange re: Leonie here.
      As for the other units, this makes more sense. Jeritza seems to be able to join the Blue Lions, probably for Mercedes. Catherine is locked to the Blue Lions, again pretty self explanatory. Shamir is available on all but seems to be Golden Deer only in the demo. Seteth and Flayn don't appear route locked which makes no sense: why would they join the Black Eagles unless it's a church route?

      Could Leonie possibly be joining BE if Jeralt joins Edelgard as a merc given what Golden Wildfire said about the Alliance being too peaceful for work, and that the coming war has every merc scrambling to join a side? I mean we never see where Byleth and Jeralt are after the tutorial, but maybe they always join one side of the war to make the routes stand out (like Scarlet Blaze being the only route to interact with them in a non-hostile way [Probably as a shock], while the other routes are a "Surprise! They fight for the enemy." kind of deal).

      Monica is literal simp, why would she defect? Ashe and Mercedes? I can kinda accept Mercie, but again I think Ashe leaving is silly.
      Really I'm more shocked at any of the eagles leaving. Their chance was the beginning of the route. They accepted going to war, now they will suddenly defect...that's silly.
      Jeritza defecting?! Okay that is something even more absurd. Sure he's not the DK in this timeline, but I find it hard to believe he would leave Edelgard after all he's been through. He didnt do that even when Mercedes requested him to join her side. Again he was the DK and killed quite a number of people, so perhaps that's a valid reason. But him leaving when they just waged war is too silly as well.

It also wouldn't make sense for Leonie to abandon everything to join Edelgard - especially when Edelgard was complicit with Jeralt death. That was my issue with her in CF in the base game too. Jeralt also may or may not die in this game too, so I really don't know. We saw him in the trailers and Sothis says that Byleth still wants revenge.

      @@l.n.3372 Betraying Arundel became a possibility because of a number of small butterfly effects caused by the presence of Shez. For example, Monica was saved because the bandits were stopped by Shez and the lords before they reached Remire village. So the lords never meet Byleth, and Byleth is never brought to The Officers Academy, with Jeritza being named an instructor instead. Jeritza answers directly to Edelgard, meaning he can pull strings to get his class any assignment that Edelgard wants his class to have. She couldn't do this with Byleth since she hadn't earned Byleth's full support yet, meaning Byleth would just take any assignment given by Rhea without fuss. The entire first month after Byleth's arrival was spent getting used to the academy, and a mock battle designed to test the students skills, and the skills of Byleth as an instructor. This waste of time meant that the opportunity to save Monica in that first month was lost. In Three Hopes, Jeritza bypasses the mock battle and arranges it so that his class is put on bandit duty at just the right time to make a rescue possible. Both the remaining bandits and Monica would be at the same place, making this a perfect opportunity. Edelgard was able to rescue Monica under the pretense of just stopping the bandits, where she "conveniently" happens to discover Monica being held captive there. Good thing instructor Jeritza had the good sense to have us check the basement. Nice job professor. *wink* The key is that she could mount a rescue without actually making it look like she was mounting a rescue.
      In Three Houses, Byleth and his class were given a completely different assignment for their first job together. Edelgard would have to completely disobey orders and convince Rhea to send them on an entirely different assignment. Rhea would have to ask why Edelgard wanted to change the mission objective, and Edelgard wouldn't have an answer that didn't make her look suspicious as hell. If she mentioned wanting to examine the bandits main base, Rhea would say that the investigation wasn't a priority right now and that Byleth still needed more time to get accustomed to the academy, the students, and the responsibilities of a teacher. If Edelgard mentioned wanting to look for Monica, Rhea would ask why exactly Edelgard was so sure she could track her down and what exactly all this had to do with the bandits. Trying to rescue Monica in the main timeline would have raised WAY too many questions and put Edelgard's entire plan at risk.
      In Three Hopes, as Edelgard says, the bandits and Monica just happen to be in the same place at the same time, making mounting a rescue a pretty simple feat to pull off. Monica could then expose "Tomas" as the one who kidnapped her, and Edelgard could easily piggyback off Tomas' recent unmasking to point out how strange her "Uncle's" behavior has been lately and let it slip that maybe they should look into him too. She could do all this without making herself look suspicious in the slightest. The recent situation with Tomas would just make Edelgard's doubts about her uncle seem completely reasonable. This also prevents Flayn from getting captured, since Thales would have no power over Edelgard anymore and would be unable to make use of Jeritza's Death Knight persona to kidnap Flayn.
      As for why she's so ready to cut ties with Thales this time, that's simple. She has Shez, and Shez has already awakened his/her equivalent to Byleth's Godess power mode. Remember that Edelgard was much more willing to distance herself from Thales in Crimson Flower when she had Byleth's full power behind her. She didn't use Thales manufactured monsters in her army and she flat out refused him when he proposed the idea of world conquest. The power of Byleth made Thales mostly unnecessary. If it wasn't for the fact that she had the Church's army to worry about too at the same time, she probably would have tried to eliminate Thales in the main game as well. In Three Hopes, Rhea still has no idea about what Edelgard is planning to do, meaning Edelgard doesn't need to worry about the church mounting an attack against her at this point, and she knows that Rhea will be more than happy to help expose any TWSITD members. All she has to do is put Rhea on Thales scent and the church will readily agree to help remove him from power. Once Thales is gone, Edelgard can then make the preparations to use her own army and Shez' power to take the church down when she's good and ready. None of these options were present in Crimson Flower. By the time Edelgard had Byleth's power at her full disposal, the war was already about to begin. Monica was already dead. The Flame Emperor had been linked to TWSITD. Jeralt was an unintended casualty, and her father wasn't long for this world, meaning Edelgard had no choice but to make the trip to the Imperial Capital, take the throne and make the final preparations for the start of the war. By the time she had the means to oppose Thales in Three Houses, she was already out of time. That isn't the case in Three Hopes. She had both time, and most importantly, opportunity that never presented itself in the original Three Houses.

    • @DevilHunter1994
      @DevilHunter1994 2 года назад

      The butterfly effects created by Shez' presence changed things just enough that it created opportunities for her that weren't present in the original game. Like with Monica for instance, she was only able to be rescued because Jeritza had his class placed on bandit duty one month earlier than Byleth in the original game. This is what created the opportunity to save Monica and that rescue resulted in TWSITD being exposed super early. So Edelgard was able to have them eliminated without making herself look suspicious in the process. It's not that she was stupid in Three Houses. It's just that things never quite fell into place for her in that game so that she could make the moves she is making here. She wasn't on Bandit duty in the first month of Three Houses. Instead, she had to participate in a simple mock battle, which cost her the only chance she would have had to rescue Monica and set all of this in motion.
