What's up with that part with the log above a drop? Was that a dam or a bridge? What did you do?

I hiked the Narrows when the water was much lower, but from what I can remember, that is a small waterfall with a fallen tree that has lodged in front of it. There’s a way to walk around, so I imagine they carried their kayaks around the side path.

WONDERFUL video! How were you able to do this? Are there special dates or permits for this?

You need to catch the virgin river when it's flowing. On a good year you'll have 3-4 weeks between April and May. You show up the day before to zion np backcountry permit desk, inform them what you're doing and send it. You'll want to be pretty comfortable in class IV because rescue is unlikely when the river is running.

Nice edit. Is there much whitewater around SLC?

Utah has a decent amount of whitewater but short season for most the good kayaking. May-June is peak runoff. This river in particular runs the last 2 weeks of april first 2 of may on a good year.

@@devinsreeker where is the best whitewater in Utah? I love kayaking and I’m probably going to college in Utah.
