Offshore Fishing “The Peak” Sydney: Using the home made CYCLOPS RIG!

- Finally got to go fishing offshore Sydney so chose to head straight to “The Peak” which is 7 nautical miles north east of Botany Bay, NSW.
The Peak is a 60m bommie surrounded by 80-100m drop offs, well known for pelagic species including kingfish, snapper, flute fish, Teraglin and back in the day you could also encounter tuna and marlin.
It’s not too far for most boaters and even kayaks, and is certainly a place to explore for deep jigging or bottom bashing.
I used my home made cyclops rig: a fixed weight with a uv glow lumo armour coat coating, attached to the ELKAT striker flasher gang hooks.
This rig has never failed me and today is no exception.

Hey Mel, glad you got offshore for the Snapper that I was talking about in an earlier video.
The Cyclops did the trick, but loving the calm seas at the moment so will be offshore myself this weekend.

This was the day I thought I finally caught a snapper and it ended up being a Morwong.😂 I had the cyclops rig out in the water but caught it on the half Pilly rig. Great vid and congrats on the monster snapper. My goal is to catch one this year!

I use Minn Kota to spot lock and sometimes I drift. Sometimes I use both. Never anchor

What if you were fishing from a kayak on anchor and had unclipped it to chase a big fish - may have taken you a couple of hundred metres away and along comes some do gooder and takes off with your anchor thinking they are doing the right thing ? Best thing Mel could’ve done is to ignore all together- seems like a never ending stream of people trying to chip her for minor things on her channel these days - obviously not here for the fishing.

The whole thing was a home made job - the drum was the buoy .
Anyhow frank I would love nothing more than to sit around trading barbs with you but I got a 5hr drive to lake Eucumbene for a week of trout fishing so you will have to stay there in your dark little world . While you wait for my return maybe you can use this time wisely and think of something intelligent to say or heaven forbid- something nice to say .

So why don’t you go launch your boat and go out to that anchor and pull it out of the water yourself if it is worrying you so much ? That is if you even have a boat or even fish .

The only thing I can say is that Mel should think a little more about what she post in the video so people like yourself haven’t got a thing to complain about but the big losers there are the thousands of other subscribers that enjoy the videos for what they are - great fishing videos that are fun to watch .
