I was playing solos and i was one of the last three remaining. I had a clear shot on one guy, just when i was about to shoot him, ps4 too hot appeared and it turned off.
If you ask me I would recommend opening the whole ps4 , cleaning all the dust in at and apply compressed air on everything , and lot it sit out for about 30 mins with a fan on full speed cooling it down . Try and let me know if it works
There are basically 2 scenarios 1st :- If your ps4 gives u an error right after the startup within 5 mins "Ps4 is too hot turn off the ps4" and it completely shutdown by itself in seconds it means you have a faulty fan and have to replace it with a new one 2nd :- If the ps4 gives an error of overheating after an hour it means you need to change the thermal paste and some cleaning Thank me later

Probably dust in other places, or you may also have a loose screw holding the heatsink down. Thats not very likely, but its an option anyway. How do you know its overheating? is it slowing down and stuttering? (thermal throttle) or are you feeling the console and its warm? you could try to replace thermal paste
I talked to tech support so another option for this is to just wait that’s it just wait for a day and your ps4 might have cooled and make sure you just set it on a empty desk so that is easier to cool down

If this will help somebody, rebuilding the ps4 database (doesn’t delete anything) helps with loud ass sounds. Also changing the thermal paste, but that requires removing the motherboard even. So at your own risk I suppose but it’s worth it
Also guys try to elevate your playstation get it off any wood surface that it could generate heat i say mine up sideways and put a lil tiny speaker underneath it and the jet engine sound goes away
I solved mine my trowing some right hooks at the part where the fan is and just to make sure one in the left and it worked .(I’m not joking I did it and it worked maybe there was something stuck in the fan or too much dirt and when I smash the shit out of it either something got unstuck or the dirt came out
yeah, my ps4 (original) came up with that message today and it never has before since I got it 8 years ago. I think the reason why it came up though is that my room temperature was 30 degrees celsius and the max temperature the ps4 can run at is 35 degrees celsius. The ps4 was probably 3-5 degrees hotter than my room temperature which is why it probably said It was too hot. I cleaned the fan in January not too long ago so I don't know if that's an issue where I need to keep constantly cleaning it. Anyway, after I turned it off I quickly went and turned my aircon on in my room and put my fan on facing towards the ps4 so that it would cool down. I even took the little side casing off to feel the metal and it was pretty hot to touch. anyway, it cooled down and it was ready to use again within 30 minutes and it's been fine since then. like I would just get a new fan and shit or take all the parts out to clean it but I don't wanna risk breaking something while I'm taking it apart or putting it back together. I managed to unscrew the casing to clean the fan and that proved a bit of a challenge. Also had my disk drive randomly breaking and then had to fix it. something wrong with the motor and sensor but I've got no clue what. sometimes it will just eject the disk out while I'm turning the ps4 on or while it's powered off which means now every night I turn it off at the wall so it doesn't do the eject thing. Like honestly I don't think it's gonna last much longer since all the parts are probably starting to break even more. Like my power supply is even fucking up sometimes when I turn the ps4 off it takes forever to load to turn itself off and then beeps 3 times fast so Idk what that means. long story short a console isn't really reliable after 8 years of use. If I had the money and was able to buy the ps5 without it being sold out I would but for now, I'm stuck with the ps4 until it breaks and I'm dreading the day when that comes.
I don’t think a old ps4 has a reason to do with it or the dust I bought my ps4 brand new a year ago it has no dust no problems and it says overheating I barely use it I think they send out a kill switch signal to kill all ps4s that’s just my opinion.
This only happens to me when I play modern warfare on my PlayStation 4 pro I have the 2016 chu-7000 model. And my pro is clean, I have yet to fully take it apart apply thermal paste I need to do it.

You just blew all that dust into your ps4 bad i dea best way to fix it is to completely take it apart to clean out the heat synce replace thermo paste with new thermo and now your ps4 is silent like when first bought

My PS4 Slim has been overheated for 8 hours now. I used compressed air, cleaned the fan, cleaned the entire ps4, put it in rest mode, and played the waiting game. Last year, throughout the whole of Summer i literally could not use my Playstation 4 system at ALL however come winter the exact same year i could play perfectly, the hot air and hot atmosphere around the console alone messes with it.
I flip the PS4 and I try to play Red Dead Redemption 2 and after I play 10 minutes I think this method works but after 15 minutes my PS4 suddenly issued a message "The PS4 Is too hot Turn off the PS4, and wait until the temperature goes down" Maybe this method is just to slow down my PS4 so it doesn't get hot, usually I've only been playing 1 minute and then My PS4 is too hot, So I think this method kinda worked.

None of those things will help reduce the noise. What will help are the two actual steps: 1. Change the thermal paste with something good like Arctic or Grizzly 2. Dremel a hole where the fan would be to make the fan intake directly from below it instead of to the sides Guides exist on youtube for both steps, multiple videos even... It's not hard at all. Just requires patience.

I flip the PS4 and I try to play Red Dead Redemption 2 and after I play 10 minutes I think this method works but after 15 minutes my PS4 suddenly issued a message "The PS4 Is too hot Turn off the PS4, and wait until the temperature goes down" Maybe this method is just to slow down my PS4 so it doesn't get hot, usually I've only been playing 1 minute and then My PS4 is too hot, So I think this method kinda worked.
i turned it upside down and shredded my rdr2 disc...thanks. i got grounded from it for a month and now it does this. i come to this video and cant play red dead anymore

If you hold the can upside down and spray yourself it will freeze your skin and then you can squeeze your skin and it will stay like that
None of those things will help reduce the noise. What will help are the two actual steps:
1. Change the thermal paste with something good like Arctic or Grizzly
2. Dremel a hole where the fan would be to make the fan intake directly from below it instead of to the sides
Guides exist on youtube for both steps, multiple videos even... It's not hard at all. Just requires patience.

I thought my ps4 was broken cuz the loud fan is normal for different ps4 but mine was quiet and when I go to a game 30 seconds later it starts blasting like it doesn’t make its way up it just blasts unexpectedly and it says ps4 is too hot and it turns off while I talking to my friend in a party
